In Bend for a quick stop and had a late lunch, early dinner here with the family. Pros- friendly service. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly and helpful! Food, I had the Bob Burger and really enjoyed it! The rest (3 in total) all had some type of Filly. Also ordered a Cobb salad, sides of both their fries, and a side of their take on Hawaiian mac-salad. Cons- all three (BIL, husband, and son) all felt the Fillys should have been on a roll versus a pita (some kind of wrap, if it wasn't a pita). They felt the wrap was getting too fancy, and why change something that doesn't necessarily need to change. Overall though, they each enjoyed the flavors of their respective Filly. And my burger really was tasty! The restaurant is also in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking, so that was also a nice perk! read more

This is a brief review of a lunch with a friend at That Guy's Bistro in Bend, Oregon. The restaurant is small, clean, and well organized. During our visit, there was only one other customer, which made for a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Service is walk-up style: you place your order at the counter, receive a number, and your food is brought to the table. The staff was friendly, professional, and polite throughout. Our meals arrived promptly and were clearly made to order. I had the Tri-Tip Philly, which is Philly-inspired and served on a flatbread. The meat was tender and flavorful. I enjoyed it and would gladly order it again. My friend went with the TG Burger, his usual choice on previous visits. He considers it a reliably good burger. First time stopping in to That Guy's Bistro for lunch as it's been on my list of places to go. What a great first experience. The place is cozy and comfortable. The service from Alex and everyone there was super nice and friendly. And the food was delicious. My hubby and I split a pastrami sandwich which is served on flatbread. The flatbread was outstanding--fluffy and flavorful. The pastrami was also very tasty and a generous portion. They cut the sandwich for us to split easily, which was very kind. We also ordered the sidewinder fries---and I think we have found our most favorite potato preparation in Bend. Freshly fried with just the right amount of seasonings. It was an excellent lunch. We will certainly return to try other things on their menu, such as the burgers because they look fantastic. Saw one go by to another table! They have daily specials too that will also bring us back. Had lunch with my wife here again and everything was delicious and hot. Server forgot our small order of tots. He immediately apologized and offered to upgrade to a large order of tots. I said we couldn't eat a large order. So, he brought out two small desserts. No question just taking care of their customers. read more

We shared the shoestring fries with their fry sauce. All of it was spot on! Kudos! The server was so attentive! Came in today based on the Yelp reviews about great burgers. We got there about 11:30 and the man behind the counter tells us very politely "we're actually closed right now for changeover to lunch from breakfast but you are welcome to sit down and we can help you in about 15 minutes". I gave him a look and left... Restaurant's... Don't do this... closing for "changeover" is dumb and unnecessary. I don't know if this is an excuse for everybody to take a break at once but it's not a good look. Additionally, if you do insist on closing for "changeover" turn your sign off and lock your door. Gives the whole "changeover" thing some validity. Btw, kid was super polite about it, place looks nice and clean, heard good things about the good. Just a dumb policy.... read more

Stopped by TGB based on the reviews. We don't judge the strip mall location or small footprint at all. We were greeted right as we came in and asked if we'd ever been before, if we had any questions. Then, since it seems they were a smaller crew, they let us to our own devices while we decided what to order to go. Food was ready within 15 minutes. We ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and the chop salad. Appreciated that they put the honey mustard on the side! The sandwich was good though not at all spicy but honestly, I preferred the exact same chicken in the salad better. It was a very good salad, lots of flavor and lots of toppings. This is a little restaurant in an unassuming shopping plaza that should not be overlooked. I felt that everything on the menu was carefully created to have flavors that worked well with each other. The Cowboy Steak salad was quite honestly the best steak salad I have ever had. The ingredients we absolutely perfect. The tri-tip was perfectly seasoned with the crunch of the bacon and the Chipotle Ranch that had some serious kick, along with all the other fresh ingredients, I could eat that for every meal. If asked, I would leave off the croutons as they were not needed and the only thing on the plate that was from a bag. They have daily specials for dine I and I noticed quite a few people getting burgers which look really delicious as well. They have a variety of canned and bottled sodas, beers, and energy drinks as well as a small full bar behind the countertop where you order your food and take the numbered plaquar to your table. The fresh cilantro chicken Philly was hands-down one of the best sandwiches I've had -- perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with fresh flavor that really stands out. The TG Burger was just as impressive: cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and clearly made with quality ingredients. You can tell they actually care about what they're putting on the plate. Then sat again, until they came over and told us to order at the counter lol. Not big deal, but I'm assuming you want customers first experience to be a really good one. My buddy ordered the tri-tip filly. He said it was really good. The tri-tip was cut into pretty decent chunks. He gave me one and it was very tender. I ordered the Turkey Bacon filly and it also was really good! The fillings were plentiful. I feel a lot of sandwiches around town have gotten smaller the past couple of years. Not here! Tons of tender, juicy turkey and smoky bacon. The cherry vinaigrette didn't come through a ton, but there was a nice subtle sweetness to the sandwich. The fries were really good, cooked and seasoned well. The fry sauce was a littel sweet but balaced out by the seasoning on the fries. As I mentioned, the service could have been a little warmer (and the music was so loud), but the food was good enough that it will go in my rotation of go-to lunch spots. read more

Our food was delivered in a reasonable time frame. The burger was good, but very messy, the bun didn't hold up to all the sauce. Would ask for light sauce next time. The fries were awesome. Been here a couple times. The first time the employees weren't very warm/welcoming, the second was the exact opposite and they were great. Their bacon burger is incredible, their spiral fries delicious, and they're not stingy with their sauces. Highly recommend this spot! They have a sign on the door that says outside drinks are not allowed. We had water and asked where we could dispose of it. The first employee asked us to finish it and we were doing that, even before ordering or sitting down (reasonable and understanding). Then few seconds later, someone from the kitchen started yelling at us about the drink. I think it was the manager, bearded rude guy: 1. You should never raised your voice at customers across the kitchen. 2. You shouldn't embarrass customers nor cause a scene. 3. You should approach customers and politely ask them to dispose of their beverage. In that case, we would have explained our first question when we walked into the restaurant. Learn how to treat customers instead of yelling at them. read more

Haven't tried their cocktails yet but they look tasty and if their mixology is as good as their food, stands to reason it'd be awesome too. Highly recommend the tri-tep filly and the shrimp tacos are out of this world. Not so much on ambiance, it's in a strip mall, so it's not exactly a place you want to hang out, but there are a lot of TVs playing sports and surfing and a little bit of something for everybody in that regard. Our first visit to That Guy's Bistro and we'll be back for more. If I don't want to keep eating when the plate is empty, it's not good enough. Here, I wanted to order more from the menu. It's a stretch to call this a Bistro where you expect personal service at your table. This is more of a mini cafeteria where there is no table service and you don't get any more attention once the check is paid, up front, at the counter. I wouldn't say it's comfortable or even cozy or intimate like a Bistro. It has all the comfort of a cafeteria or a food truck. Prices were oddly varied but typical for Bend. Beer selection was not my preference but again, typical for Bend. I'm looking forward to a return visit to try something else on their menu and maybe look at the wine list. read more
