They also have a bunch of other random housewares and household items ranging from tea sets to perfumes, including an "inspired by" Baccarat Rouge that smelled actually believable for a tenth of the price of the real deal. I found them a bit high in price for the silver content but many held beautiful polished stones (Aqiq, Agate,) of which I have no knowledge of their value. The founder is from Nablus, Palestine, where the original pastry shop opened in 1902. My dad knew the original owner. His son moved to Dearborn in the 80's and opened up Masri Sweets, bringing Nablus style Knafeh which is known the world over. It's my favorite thing to eat here. They still carry on in the Palestinian tradition. Samples are handed out generously. You want a piece of pastry which might be $2 or $3 somewhere else, no problem. Take 2. Palestinian culture has historically been very generous with food. Guests never leave without eating, and strangers are always welcomed. What cynical irony that food is currently being used as a weapon of war against these people. I sometimes wonder if their hospitality wasn't their Achilles heel. If you're in Dearborn, head over to Masri sweets to experience not only world class Knafeh, but maybe some of that famous Palestinian hospitality.
