We stopped in on Saturday, June 14th at 3:00pm. We're from OKC so we were looking for a Thai restaurant to go to. The restaurant isn't beautiful inside, but you can tell it's legit Thai food. It's a bit stormy and rainy today so we figured something spicy, warm, and flavorful would be good. We ordered a small Tom Yum soup, Green Curry, and Drunken Noodles. The food came out quickly, and our server as well as all staff were attentive and friendly. The portion size on all our entrees was more than enough. I bodied my drunken noodle, and my girlfriend took half of her Green Curry home. We shared the Tom Yum soup and got the Thai Hot spice level. It is a bit spicy but not unbearable. It makes the flavor much tastier. The small was a perfect size to share if you're looking to try lots of things. The bathrooms are clean and tidy, if you're curious about that kind of thing. We also ordered a Thai Tea to go, which was yummy. I highly recommend this place here in Tulsa! Our total (before the Thai tea) was only $38 for our three items. PLENTY of food. Located at 81st and Lewis in Tge Plaza Shopping Center is this hidden gem. Not many businesses are left in this center, but Thai Village is serving up some great food. I ordered Pad Thai with pork. My order came out in about 10 minutes. This was a dinner portion and was more than enough for dinner tonight and a lunch or di ner tomorrow. The food was served steaming hot and the flavors were amazing. I love Pad Thai and this was some among the best I've had in Tulsa. How are they so fast? Literally, the table next to me placed their order. The waitress went back to give the tab to the kitchen. Took my order, went back to kitchen and brought the spring rolls to the other table. Went back to the kitchen and brought fried rice and pad noodle. How are they faster than McDonald's? The stir fried dishes and fried dishes come out ridiculously quick at this restaurant that my jaw is still on the floor as I am writing this review. My spicy eggplant dish came out as quickly as a Big Mac. Because if this, I feel like the stir fry and fried dishes are not the highlight here. Not enough eggplant in a dish called spicy eggplant, but has a lot of other stuffs. The sauce is not quite there and doesn't make the dish flavorful enough. The salad took almost twice as long for them to make. You could actually see why, more intricate, especially the apple salad. Having "discovered" Thai cuisine in my 20's (I'm turning 70 this year), I've always tried different items on a menu to see how they compare to other places. The 3 items I compare are Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mow, and Yellow Curry. I liked the Pad Kee Mow, but I'm not used to it having broccoli in it. It still tasted just fine. I may get used to it. I like spicy heat and usually order medium to hot, depending on the restaurant. I will give a restaurant at least 5 visits before I give up on them. Thai Village's medium spice is enough to get quenched by a sip of Thai Iced Tea and still let all the flavorful ingredients and spices of the dish to come thru. A little tingle stays for a bit afterward. I was so happy to move to Tulsa, where there are quite a few Thai restaurants. Thai Village is where I would order their Yellow Curry, aka Potato Curry, again. While there's nothing that makes stand out on its own, it hits my Thai comfort food bullseye. When my brain says, "Thai food NOW!", that curry dish pops up. I have to admit that one of the reasons why I order from them is that I can order online for delivery or pickup, as they are close to where I live, in the Tulsa Hills area. While I've never dined in, I have picked up orders there. There's a nice Thai ambiance, and the tables looked clean. The service was moving along between servers and tables. The cooks were busy. My pickup order was ready within 20 minutes, which was how long it took to get there. I'd forgotten to order my Thai Iced Tea, and it only took a couple of minutes to get that filled. For being within walking distance of ORU, Thai Village is a small and comfortable spot. I ate here a couple of times and wish I could do it again. The food is very tasty, and service is quick. Thai Village is one of those places that you know will be good because of how it looks... the interior when I went was very empty and the exterior seemed like maybe it might not be open, but the food was absolutely delicious! Thai Village is now our go to Thai place in South Tulsa / Jenks area. First and foremost, their Thai dishes are pretty decent. Spices and spiciness are balanced. Not overly salty, good news for folks who watch their sodium intake. The cook time varies but they work fast and hard. Many of the patrons seem to be repeated customers. This can tell a lot about a restaurant. The fried rice is 8/10. Seasoning and the cook temperature can be improved. TomKa is 9/10, definitely worth to come back for. Description of the food in order: Tom Yum, Satay, and Gang Keaw Warn (Green Curry) What stood out about the Tom Yum was the spices. I am sure there were some traditional herbs and spices that I have never had before. It was a very flavorful soup loaded with beef. Enjoyable! The Satay was a generous serving of skewered, curry flavored chicken and a delicious peanut-based dipping sauce. Excellent! And finally, the Green Curry. Wow! My wife said she could drink a glass of the broth with a straw! Extraordinary! I'm thinking that the lady working the floor was an owner. She was handling the dining area by herself! She was a no fun, get'r done worker. No lost movement in her effort and no time wasted. I could see how her fast, sufficient, effective service could be misconstrued as less than amiable. Maybe a little terse. Possibly, that accounts for some reviewer's reference to service. It does make you feel a little rushed and hurried when you eat here. Kind of like eat and get out! The Thai Curry Noodle dish had noodles that were mushy and overcooked, and did not have a significant curry flavor. The Tom Ka soup seemed like it had coconut cream instead of coconut milk - very thick and lacking the tang the soup usually has. Paddook Pad Ped $12.99 I love the heat from this dish. The fish was fresh and it went well with the bell peppers and eggplant. Also, just a PSA for everyone. When they say it's spicy, it is really spicy. I eat ornamental peppers casually, so I thought it would be fine for me to order the most spicy level because most Thai/Asian/Buffalo Wing places do not pack much heat in their food. I was wrong. It was the most spicy food I have tasted. My stomach was burning for the rest of the day, so unless you want a "spicy ramen challenge", make sure your spice level is at least one level lower than what you usually order. P.S. The location is very convenient, right off of 81st. Thai village has a great staff that welcomed us when we walked in. We had the dine in experience this time, and they were kind and attentive. This is hands down my favorite place for Thai food in Tulsa!! I have been coming here for close to 8 years and have not had a bad experience. It's part of what's kept me coming back!! This isn't a fancy place by any means but it has what you need, a comfortable place to sit, excellent service and amazing food. My go to dish here is the orange chicken. Nothing fancy or anything that screams Thai but my goodness what a flavorful dish!! Rich and intense flavors that punch me in my taste buds, every time! But back to the review!! This small corner spot is locally owned and operated. I see the same handful of men working every time I come in. I think this helps with consistency and great service. I have always been seated quickly and had drinks brought to our table. This is big deal for me. Also, when ordering an appetizer it comes out fast and before the entrees, another big deal for me! When I do order more traditional Thai faire, I like it hot, like painful hot. This is by far the hottest Thai food I've found in Tulsa. You have to be brave to order it Thai hot here (the hottest on the menu) but they have a 'secret' level of hot that they will make if you ask for it!! I've left in tears with the Thai hot and am not brave enough to try the additional heat. If you're looking for something new and different, I'd recommend this. Stop! Don't go. Go to Thai taste instead. Unfortunately, Thai taste our usual was closed on Sunday so we decided to try something new... bad decision. I'll start by saying our server was awesome which is why they got 2 stars.. everything else was pretty bad. We ordered fresh rolls and shrimp for starters... shrimp is frozen shrimp you'd get from long John silvers, but the menu said it was Thai herb in the breading etc... the fresh rolls were 99% lettuce and the dipping sauce for both was sweet with no flavor. I got pad Thai chicken and my husband drunken noodles. Pad Thai was bland and I couldn't taste even a hint of fish sauce, it was also very sweet. The drunken noodles were sweet also but definitely had better flavor than the pad Thai. Both dishes had a similar underlining sweet/ curry sauce, but overall the flavor was just lacking again. Poor food quality Ordered seafood curry & other seafood stir fry dish. Bag had an odd smell & when it was opened you could smell the pungent smell of seafood way past its date. Wonton & Chicken noodle soup both tasted like watered down cup of noodles. The white rice was the consistency of rice maker rice with too much water.
