Thai Taste appears to be a family owned restaurant. It is small, clean, and nicely decorated to give it a pleasant ambiance. The chairs are comfortable. We received excellent service. There's plenty of parking in back. Their menu was a little confusing. Beside the dishes that are commonly served with rice such as curry, there was a hand written notation of the price of rice. We thought this meant that rice didn't come with the dish and you had to pay extra for it. We ordered a noodle dish so we wouldn't have to pay extra. The owner contacted me and explained that the curries came with rice. The notations of cost of rice was in case someone wanted to order extra rice. Now that we know rice comes with entrees such as curries, we will go back and try some of their other dishes such as Korean. I would recommend adding adding "extra rice" to the notation to avoid confusion. The Pad Thai was okay. It wasn't the best Pad Thai I've had, but it wasn't the worst, either. It was $11.99 and did not come with anything else such as soup, salad, or egg roll. The portion was fairly small. The noodles were a little more done than we like. I imagine if one were to order the noodles al dente, that they would accomodate. I would offer 2 suggestions. First just add the word "extra" to the notations about the cost of rice to let people know the price is only in case someone wants to order an extra serving of rice. Also, there was a hand written note on the door stating that restrooms are only for customers. I don't know if that was done because they've had a problem with non-customers using their restaurant or just preventative measures, but we found that off putting. My husband commented, "cranky owners," when he saw it. If they feel they must have such a notice on their door, perhaps they could make it smaller and more professional. I travel all over the states for work, and I am fairly local to the Tulsa area. This place is a hidden gem, truly! The man who made my food was very friendly when I picked up my order. I ordered the Thai basil fried rice and an order of pad Thai both with chicken, & when you ask for the food to be spicy and tell him you can handle it he takes your word for it. He said spice level goes from 1-6 and I asked for a level 8 or 9. He definitely obliged, the food was absolutely fantastic full or flavor and definitely spicy!!! 5 out of 5 stars! It's a small mom and pop joint with a ton of character. Go and try this out with your friends or take it to go, you will not be disappointed!! read more

Restaurant looks like a 2 story house. Downstairs is the restaurant. Upstairs is unknown but I can see some plants up there from the outside. Part of the ceiling downstairs on that corner looks like may had water damage and repaired. The Thai iced tea is great. I like the pad kee mao. I like mine with thin rice noodle instead of the wide noodle and with extra tomatoes. Because of the extra tomatoes, I like the sauce to be a little sweeter, which is not the case. The kids fried rice is huge. It's really adult portion. I wonder what the adult portion really looks like. The lap na (ground beef with diced green onions, cilantro, and purple onions) is very different. I wouldn't try it if you have never had it before. The green papaya salad looks good but I did not try it. Items to like the Laos papaya salad a little more because it has crabs in it. read more

We have been searching for a good neighborhood Thai restaurant in Tulsa and finally found it! We started off with the spring rolls, and shared the chicken basil and green curry and all were excellent. It's not anything fancy inside or out but it's clean and the staff are friendly. No sriracha boogers! There are numerous good Thai restaurants in Tulsa, and here is another one. The Thai dishes with coconut, basil and curry flavors have me hooked. A disappointing start with the Chicken Satay appetizer. The breast meat chicken was tough and lacking flavor. The dipping sauce did little to improve it. The sauce appeared to be chunks of peanut butter and some type sweet liquid. It was not blended to a smooth consistency. Difficult to use until I took my fork and gave it a vigorous stir. Recommendation; pick another appetizer. The meals improved the experience significantly. My wife went for one of her favorites the Pad Thai. Nice flavors in the meal and not excessively oily as it sometimes can be. Rated as 4 stars by my wife. I had a dish I have not had before, the Pad Ped; chicken with fresh mushrooms, onions, bamboo shoots, bell pepper, jalapeno, a touch of fresh basil and spicy chili paste, served with Jasmine rice. This was a delicious 5-star plate of food. The coconut and basil flavors stood out. Fresh mushrooms, red bell peppers and jalapenos, added a crisp snap to the bite and enhanced the mildly spicy sauce. I ordered a three, but could have easily enjoyed the meal with a four or better in heat level (scale 1-6). And a complement to the staff at Thai Taste. They clean the nozzles on the sriracha bottles! I looked around the restaurant and didn't spot any sriracha bottle boogers! My pet peeve, with many Asian restaurants; filthy condiment bottles on the table. Thank You! There are some really appealing things about Thai Taste: they have a large variety of items on the menu, they are decently priced (seriously so hard to find Thai restaurants that don't charge $15 for a pad thai dish!), and the entrees comes in abundant, filling portions. I tried the spring rolls and pad thai. I was a fan of the spring rolls - they are very full, to the extent that my wrappers were coming apart a little, but offered a wide variety of veggies, pork, and shrimp! The accompanying peanut sauce is delicious. I was pretty disappointed with the pad Thai though. It was a really large portion, and I even paid extra to get the seafood combo for my protein selection. The seafood itself was somewhat lacking, but my main concern was that the pad Thai itself was bland. I personally love my pad Thai very bold in flavor (I often ask for extra sauce in my noodles if possible), and the pad Thai here did not make a big statement unfortunately. For starters let me say my Pad Thai was good. Having said that the place had a strange vibe that sort of turned me off. First thing I see is a hand written sign on the door announcing "restrooms for customers and door dash only". It was taped crookedly to the door. Strange because the 5600 block of South Mingo is not an area rife with pedestrian traffic. I'd be surprised if someone driving down Mingo pulled into their parking lot, parked in their large lot and ran in to use the bathroom. Seemed like a cranky sign. Got our food very quickly and that was good because the temperature inside was HOT. Im guessing high 80s at least. Mid 90s outside. Ate quickly, paid and left with my shirt sticking to my torso. I don't know if their AC was broken or if they just like it hot. Also they had recently upped their prices and rather than have new menus printed they just scratched through the old price and hand wrote the new price to the side. Looked like it was at least the 3rd time they had changed their pricing in that manner. read more

The food is outstanding. This is my second time here and I ordered the same dishes as last time. The pad thai was excellent! I squeezed that lime over the noodles to give it that extra zip and it really didn't need it. The portions were very generous. I'm sad to leave this review and I've been prolonging writing it because I has intended on helping a local business out by eating there. I'm not sure if the wide range of food or bad reviews is due to different chefs or that Tulsans don't know what food Thai food means. I travel for a living, and I try Thai food across several countries, and some of the best I've ever had was in Tulsa, however, this was not the case on this visit. I was going to give four stars after tasting my pad Thai because while it was the perfect level of spicy, however, it had very little flavor until I squeezed a lime over it. Someone else left a review of how great the portion was (mostly noodles, hardly any chicken), but it'd almost is if they used only half the sauce needed. It could've been very good- unfortunate. I'll give them a two star for being friendly. Avoid. Still, I was wanting to give them a good review, so I had ordered a kids portion of pho to try because someone left a review stating it was the best in Tulsa. Nope, just a salty broth. It was okay for a few bites, but they are hiding a lack of marrow flavor with broth. What really did this place in for me wasn't anything I mentioned above; I still wanted to leave a decent review, however, I ordered chicken nuggets for my son (which he was very excited about), and it ended up being basically fried bread, and not chicken at all. Maybe mixed fried bread with chicken. It was disgusting. My two year old had a couple bites, and ran up to me and said "daddy, what's that?". This place was the worst Thai food I've ever had. This place is so overrated! I ordered a medium spicy chicken paid Thai with extra hot pepper on the side to go. Cashier was RUDE when she rang up my order and I politely asked for a receipt please. She snapped at me "wait" and gave me a mean look, so don't talk to her while she's ringing you up! Next, the pad thai noodles were soggy with chicken and peanuts without the extra spice. Where's the veggie? At least bean sprouts and scallions? Where's the tofu and fried eggs? Coming from Houston, maybe my expectation was too high. read more

Pad Kee Maow - I'm back in Bangkok. Something about the flavor here is beyond lemongrass and light fish sauce. Totally authentic. I can't place it. I would eat here based on this dish alone. I've found it usually pairs well with light meat, but today I got the combo - though I was saddened to find just two lone shrimps for the seafood portion. That aside, this and the Tom Kha were the highlights. Phad See Ew - This dish was, sadly, nothing close to the original. The noodles should be *wide flat rice* noodles in a dark sauce. The way it was given to me, it was basically just Pad Kee Maow (drunken noodle). I ordered the two dishes together and, eating them as I type this, I can still find no difference. It's too bad, since this is such a Thai noodle staple that you don't otherwise want to miss. The restaurant 'Lanna Thai' does a great job with this one specific dish, if you are looking to try it in Tulsa. Tom Kha ("Yom Kar"): Incredible. Not as creamy as I've had in the past, but the flavor is all there. It's meant to be ordered very spicy, so don't miss out! The red pepper heat profile complements the dish emmaculately. Larb - The cucumber was old and the dish is not complete without a few beds of fresh greens - iceberg are good. Keeping fresh vegetables in the kitchen is a sign of respect for your customers and will keep them coming back. Cucumber is easy to fit into a business plan. Otherwise, sour, spicy, and absolutely delicious. I'd be happy to recommend this again. Chicken wings - Southeast Asian wings are an art worth celebrating. I suspect these were ordered from another restaurant. Thai Taste: I recommend you look up how to do these the right way, the Southeast Asian way, and give Tulsans a reason to keep coming back. Overall, 4/5 for using authentic ingredients and transporting my palette back to Bang Kachao. Well done. Eat here! read more

Me and my family went to eat there for the first time recommended by their sibling in Arkansas who also sell good thai food. I tried their pad Thai 3 star and oh my god was I blown away, it had much more flavor and taste than any other pad Thai I've tried in Oklahoma! I also got their Panang curry 3 star as well which I mixed with my pad Thai and it hit the spot right away. The service was top notch, wasn't slow pace and my waitress was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We sat up on the second floor where they had a big window and it felt very opened. OK, so this review is a take out review because we are currently under social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. You will either look back at this review and laugh, or it will bring great sadness. So, we ordered from Thai Taste and it was pretty good. Even though my picture of the spring rolls has them wrapped in unappealing plastic wrap, the flavors were fresh and tasty (but I do wish mint and basil were more prominent than they were). The green curry was really good, and perfectly spicy (ordered a level 5 spicy). The portion was so filling, I had the leftovers for a tasty lunch the day after. read more

We have been eating here for a long time. At first the meals and the spicy number have been right on point. However, I don't know if it's a new owner or chef, but the chicken is tough and has no flavor. The spicy number 2 has been a 5 which makes it impossible to eat. So many dishes have had to go in the trash. This has never been an issue in the past. Frankly I am unsure if we will eat here again. If we do, it will be a 1 in spice and add my own, and I will not do the chicken. I really hate having to leave a poor review, but please hire back who you had....I will so miss eating here!
