After touring Volcanoes NP, we stopped at the Thai Thai Bistro for a late lunch. We both had the pad Thai, one with tofu and one with beef. Both of our meals were very tasty. Very roomy, nicely decorated with Thai art, etc. service was outstanding. read more

I've been looking for nice Asian food for my parents while traveling in Big island. I could choose restaurants very limited because they have very picky tastes. They wanted try American or Italian or Chinese or etc but seems like they didn't really like it. I found this place on the Yelp. Looks nice My family was enjoying this place food. I live two hours away; as a lifetime resident I am not in a hurry to grab and go my dining offerings. I love to sit inside; look at the photos of the family history and smell the smells of fresh lemon grass, bayleaf and all of the aromatics used in this scrumptious bowl of Thom Gah Soup. This is a weekly spot for us. It's my comfort food. It's my safe place. This place is pricy! But If you are visiting the park you don't have many options in the area. Dishes are full of flavor. Plenty of food to fill you up. All the meats are ono. Shrimps are huge and they give you a lot of them. Chicken is tender and delicious. Mahi is good as well. Firm white fish. Small hot is quite spicy. some days are hotter than others. Highly recommend the soups. My only complaint is getting 1/3 of the container aromatics. For $25 I would be able to eat all of it. Went there on a recent visit to Volcano. We were seated quickly just after opening and the proceeded to wait 15+ minutes to order. Once we ordered off the tiny limited menu we then waited over 30 minutes for spring rolls and then another 15 or so for sweet and sour chicken. The spring rolls were good. The chicken was a bunch of raw vegetables, some chicken (maybe 3oz) and ketchup. Yes ketchup. It was horrible. Horrible. We will not be visiting here again and don't understand where the good reviews come from. read more

The Pho in this place is good and the woman who owns the place is always friendly. She taught me about mixing Sriracha and Hoisin together. Never going to eat it any other way, now. But the chicken is pressed kind, not shredded or chunks of real chicken, which I don't care for. She used to have real chicken. I think she should return to that. read more

We wanted to love this place! Unfortunately they appeared to be under-staffed and they forgot about the people they seated in the bar. I came in just after 6pm on a week night and asked about placing a take out order. I was informed that the kitchen was running about 20 minutes behind, which I agreed to, expecting for my order to be taken right away. The host asked me to sit in the bar, which I did. A server came and attended to there couple who were already there, taking their order and refreshing their drinks. Assuming best intentions, she may have thought I was already helped, which is why she didn't make eye contact. As several servers came through the bar to get items for their customers, 20+ minutes passed. When someone finally looked at me, she asked, 'you've been helped, right?'. When I said no, she told me she'd be back to take my take out order. She was kind and helpful, offered me water while she took my order. Overall, it took me just over an hour to place my order and get my food. P.s. the food was pretty good! read more

VEGAN's NOT WELCOME!!! After waiting 20 mins for a table on a busy Tuesday night at 8pm. We patiently waited, and when we finally sat down for service I asked the waitress, if they had vegan options because Yelp said they do. After being told everything either has fish oils or some type of oyster sauce. My last resort was the papaya salad, and she said that's made with an oyster dressing. I asked if they could make it just without the dressing and she said the cooks will not alter or accommodate any changes to the menu. The waitress could have at least asked but she didn't even care to try. Also this place is pretty pricey so you would think they would TRY to feed a compassionate family but since they are so busy, their sales probably reflect such a stubborn attitude. read more

We ordered food and later an older female lady came out and started yelling at us about not ordering and drinking her water while we were at the table. What's not to like? The food is fabulous, service is friendly and prompt, and the restaurant is well cared for. We have been here many times over the years and are never disappointed. We were on the Hilo side of the island for several nights and had dinner here twice. For the first time, we had the tapioca pudding. This was amazing and unlike any other tapioca we've had before. They are open for lunch and dinner with an hour break in between. Whether you are staying in Hilo or Kona, this is a great place to go meal. First off they are the only restaurant that's open at night so it was super busy. They were way short staffed (only 2 people working). They did an awesome job though keeping everything together. We wanted to try the pork chops but they didn't have so we got the basil beef and spring rolls. The beef was good but I was disappointed with the spring rolls. It was only spring rolls no lettuce, no noodles, no pickled vegetables, no mint - just spring rolls and the sauce wasn't even the right sauce. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good food, but VERY spendy. After a day hiking around Volcano National Park we were really hungry and Thai food sounded good so we decided to check it out. As we sat down and perused the menu, we experienced sticker shock at the prices--this was some of the most expensive Thai food prices we'd seen anywhere, but considering that this was the only Thai game in the very small and remote town of Volcano, it made some sense. I got the Thai iced coffee and shrimp wonton soup with egg noodles, and hubs got the Thai iced tea and pad Kee mow noodles with tofu. Everything was good, and they had a legit homemade-looking spicy garlic chili oil which threw some welcome heat on the pretty mild dishes, but I can't say it was the best Thai food we've ever had. If you love curry dishes, get the Thai Thai special! During our stay at the Volcano park, we tried this place for dinner. A bit busy on a Sunday night. We waited about 20 mins to be seated and another 10-15 for our food. Granted they are the only Asian restaurant in the area, they provided great service and food. The only down side were the prices. My husband and I shared an entree and appetizer for about $45 (including tip). Overall, great food! I'd come back again if I were visiting the park. read more

This place is some of the best Thai food I've had. You might question the outside but as soon as you walk through the doors you will be greeted with smiles and amazing service. We had the passion fruit margaritas and wow! Amazing! The yellow curry with shrimp was delicious and they didn't skimp on the shrimp. Delightful! Green curry was a bit more spicy but nice. Everything we ordered was excellent (we have actually been looking for good Thai food back home, and this beat everything in our city). The Thai tea was strong & sweet (the way I like it), the pad Thai had a good amount of sauce, and I almost licked the bowl clean for the Thai Thai curry. Servers were very nice and tended to you when you needed, but left you to eat at the perfect cadence.
