Found a thai food gem in the town of Keaau. We ordered several things and they were all delicious: the chicken pad thai, the cashew chicken, the honey walnut shrimp, and fried rice. So much food! And the prices are reasonable. Again, all were delicious. We got it to go, and the food came out in 5 minutes. We were met with very friendly greetings, patience while we looked at the menu, and pleasant conversation while I paid. Lots of seating in the restaurant, very clean and spacious. A worth spot for your attention. Not only do they have good tasting food, they are super clean, I pay attention to the cleanliness of things like under the stem table. Which was spotless, the tables slightly sticky, but of course we just ended the lunch crowd, and perhaps perfect would be like a five star restaurant. Any place that doesn't allow returns on food should be a red flag! Be aware that any mistake they make you'll just have to deal with. This isn't a one star because the food wasn't all bad but service is definitely a one star as there is zero accommodation. I've never been to a restaurant like that and I'll not be returning. If you buy food here get it from the hot bar and stick to Chinese as that's the only thing they know how to make authentically. It's greasy, under seasoned and over salted. Not to mention overpriced. Whenever I go to foodland, I always stop by Lemongrass to see if they have the roast pork. When they have the roast pork, I think it's one of the top plates for the price on the island. Don't get me wrong, there are other good choices too, but the roast pork is just the best. The workers there are always nice to me. Perfect little spot to grab lunch or dinner on the go! Super affordable prices and the staff is super friendly. I normally like to get the Singapore chow funn noodles with no curry sauce and they are always willing to customize it to my liking. This is normally my go-to spot because there a wide variety of different dishes to choose from. In the pics I got Singapore chow funn, charsiu chow funn and roast pork. I'm in the area pretty regularly and stop here to get lunch. The foods you're typical fare of a blend of Asian and local cuisine. It's consistently good can and you can get it fast. I like the orange chicken and the chow fun noodles. Prices seem pretty good and the staff is pretty nice. My daughter ordered takeout of the combination Shrimp & Chicken Pad Thai Noodles, Peking Spareribs (extra spicy), Thai Coconut Shrimp and the Volcano Shrimp. First time trying the Volcano Shrimp and if you haven't tried it yet ... I highly recommend you to try it!! It was "DA BOMB" ... the shrimps were deep fried in batter and the dipping sauce had a mild kick to it. I will definitely order this shrimp dish whenever I go to Lemongrass Restaurant again. Their chicken pad thai and salt & pepper spare ribs used to be excellent. On my last visit on March 12, I was quite disappointed. The chicken pad thai tasted different and not as tasty, and for some reason they cut the noodles into 2" to 3" pieces. The salt & pepper ribs had a lot of batter on them and the amount pork was less in volume and more fatty. I ordered their seafood tom yum soup to be exact with a side of rice. Their seafood tom yum comes with shrimp, scallops, and squid. Let me tell you, I didn't know if i wanted to cry or laugh when the soup came out. Presentation wise was pretty depressing. I could already tell that there wasn't going to be too much going on in the soup. It was definitely watered down tom yum soup. Their servings of the seafood was so minimal. There was probably only 2 pcs of each seafood that was listed and they were small! Not only was that depressing, but i paid over $15 for this tom yum soup! HUH?!? OK, I ordered Pad Thai from the menu and it tasted like no Pad Thai I ever ate before, almost like spaghetti. Next visit I tried the steam table. I got the 2 entrees and fried rice and noodles. The golden chicken was COLD, the chicken with long beans were way too salty, cold and the beans were way over-cooked, limp, disappointing. Noodles were too salty and cold, the fried rice was not salty, yummy, but cold. Is the steam table broken? I was just hoping not to get sick. These guys need help. read more

My group and I decided to dine at Lemon Grass Restaurant. Being one of the few places open at at that time and day, we thought we would give it a try. While we appreciate that every restaurant has their own rendition of certain dishes, we have to say that the food at Lemon Grass was of average quality. Our main concern was that every dish we ordered seemed to be covered in a thick sauce, which was about all you could taste. While we understand that sauce is an important part of many dishes, we felt that the overwhelming amount of sauce used here was too much and masked the flavor of the food. Although the food was not exceptional, the service at Lemon Grass was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The menu offered a variety of dishes, with reasonable prices. Overall, while Lemon Grass Restaurant is not the worst dining experience we've had, it was not memorable either. If you're in the area and looking for a quick bite, Lemon Grass could be an option. However, if you're looking for high-quality food with a more refined taste, this might not be the place for you. read more

Based on reviews I ordered a large container of salt n pepper pork ribs, chow funn ($16.50), eggplant w/tofu ()12.95), fried rice, black bean chicken, beef broccoli and chow mein. The pork rib were battered and gummy. There was no meat, just gristle and fat. The chow funn was without any flavor. The eggplant was so sweet I could barely eat any of it. I was very disappointed. I will stick with Happy Valley in Hilo. They truly have great salt n pepper pork ribs. They are crispy and crunchy and only $13.95 for the same container size. read more

I grew up in Keaau and this has always been one of my favorite restaurants. They have great options for all dietary restrictions. I highly recommend getting a plate lunch from the hot line. My personal favorite is their chow fun and their garlic eggplant. But be sure to check out their regular items as well. They're currently only the hot line and take out is open, but I don't think that has slowed them down at all. If you go anticipate a line because the food is just that good. read more

Great! Family owned and operated. They now is by name and always greet us with smiles. Consistently good food. My family has to have Pho about once a week and this is our go to spot.
