Super nice servers! Took a photo of the pricing for next time. Love the variety of options!

While they were closure over a year because they got fired and remodeling. After reopening they started serving lunch buffet. First time we had lunch buffet there and pretty much enjoyed. Food was I would say "decent" but not terrible like a P- express. Lunch only served buffet and dinner served only from menu. Buffet selection is not big just about 10-12 items. I miss Chinese buffet in Seattle we used to live there. So much selection including oysters, crab and huge dessert section, but this is Hilo so I can't compare with them. Waitress says few things changed everyday but mostly very basic stuff. I loved Ginger Chicken ( chilled ) and Salt & Pepper Shrimp da best. All server are friendly and considerate. If I had to say few things, I'd say would be better if there were more soup and desserts. I really want to try their "Duck" next time when I go to dinner.

They are also open again for lunch and dinner dine-in options as well.

Anti-Climatic. Best way to describe it. Food was average. The Chow Fun we order was better than the last place we went to. The food wasn't overly seasoned. The egg rolls were standard. Bok Choy was good, but not great. The biggest disappointment was the Sizzling beef Platter. When the dish is called 'Sizzling' you expect the dish to come out sizzling. It wasn't. It was the biggest let down, because you're expecting for a show. The beef was chunky. The tendons and fat between the meat was chewy and the vegetables weren't even sizzling. They were pretty much raw. It wasn't a terrible place. The staff was nice, but I don't think I'll go out of my way to drive all the way here again. Parking was crowded, meaning narrow spaces. It was a bit tight driving through the parking lot too.

    General chicken! Mmmmmm

Great place, but from the street it looks like it's empty. Looked at their menu and said I've got to try it. What a surprise! Their general chicken was delicious and appetizers were very pleasing. The staff are friendly family ran and operated. I would have all the employees park on the front so it looks like it's busy during the day. At night the parking lot looks active. It's a surprise and delightful to eat here. Bathrooms are clean and accessible for handicap. My new favorite Chinese food destinations.

I got the Furkaki fish with green salad. If i was basing my rating only on this dish, I'd give it 5 stars. Yum! It was piping hot and it came with a thousand island dressing that i think was home made and it was way better on the fish than the tartar sauce. So i ate the salad and the fish together with that sauce. Amazing! My husband had the chicken with curry on it. This was good, but not great. The Chicken was sliced too thin so there was more breading than chicken. And there wasn't quite enough curry sauce on top of it to really get a good curry flavor. There was a lot of it so my husband didn't even eat all of it. He got the Ube side and it was really interesting for someone not from Hawaii. But I really liked it. More about the place: it's a little market and they sell all kinds of dried fruit and other spices and things. The have a counter in the back you order at. It took a bit to make the food, but it was fresh! The seating area is outside and they have picnic tables with umbrellas. We ended up taking it to eat at the beach. If I'm ever back in Hilo, I would definitely go back for the fish!

Cafe 100 is a casual, local spot with window (staff) or kiosk (automated) ordering and plenty of semi-outdoor seating (i.e., you are technically inside and covered, but you can still feel the heat from outside). I will admit the menu felt a bit overwhelming at first glance because there are so many options available, but we visited on a weekday when it was not busy, so we were able to take our time deciding. Anticipating larger portions, we decided to share a mixed type loco moco plate along with a drink. That turned out to be a great call, as the portion was more than enough for the two of us, especially since we would not easily be able to take leftovers with us. This is casual, familiar comfort food done well. No complaints here, and I have already recommended Cafe 100 to a few friends :)

As a born-and-raised local, rice, gravy, and eggs will win me over every time, and I really wanted to love this place for the history alone. I'll be honest though -- the hype set the bar high, and I left a little let down. The regular loco moco was just okay. The hamburger patty tasted pre-made or frozen, though the gravy was solid (thank goodness). The beef stew also tasted pre-made and was lighter on the tomato flavor than I prefer. I ordered the steak as well (around $30), and it came out very well done. On the positive side, they offer a ton of plate lunch options, the space is extremely well kept for a local diner, and there's plenty of parking. It's covered outdoor seating only, but it's comfortable and clean. What surprised me most was the lack of visible history. I expected to see more storytelling about the loco moco origins -- photos, signage, staff sharing pride in it -- something that really leaned into that legacy. It felt a little missing. Still glad I tried it for the experience, but for me, it didn't quite live up to the legendary reputation.

Located just across the street from the KTA Super Store along Puainako, you can easily find this Minit Stop. The Minit Stop convenience store has your standard stuffs like - drinks, fast food & snacks, toiletries and of course their FAMOUS Frrrrrrried Chicken! The waitress spoke really soft and was cool and collected. I ordered the fried chicken thighs with Lilikoi sauce, brown rice, and a side salad. My husband got the lite bite curry with brown rice and a side salad. Water and coffee were served in custom White Guava tumblers. We each got a Hawaiian roll with a delicious Lilikoi butter. To my surprise, the side salad was a full generous portion, not the tiny side salad that restaurants usually give. It was a proper salad with fresh local greens, sliced cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, and another white shredded vegetable that I think was radish. My chicken was delicious and the portion of that was generous as well. I tasted my husband's curry but didn't really like the flavor. It was different, like a sweeter flavor than other curries I've tried before. Overall, I'd definitely come back. I enjoyed the large salad and all the Lilikoi things - butter, dressing, and sauce.

So then, we get to our food. The buns were with the meat, causing both of our buns to be soggy, like falling apart. I get it. He could have packaged it all differently, but I know those to-go containers are not the greatest for the environment, so that must have been the factor. But the beef patty and chicken... they were large, so we were really looking forward to them. But they were so bland. Not even salt or pepper, no sauce, garlic powder, nothing. I couldn't even chop up the chicken for my salad, as I was only given a singular half ounce container of dressing. They do have Girl Scout cookies for sale, and I'm sure those would be fine.
