While they were closure over a year because they got fired and remodeling. After reopening they started serving lunch buffet. First time we had lunch buffet there and pretty much enjoyed. Food was I would say "decent" but not terrible like a P- express. Lunch only served buffet and dinner served only from menu. Buffet selection is not big just about 10-12 items. I miss Chinese buffet in Seattle we used to live there. So much selection including oysters, crab and huge dessert section, but this is Hilo so I can't compare with them. Waitress says few things changed everyday but mostly very basic stuff. I loved Ginger Chicken ( chilled ) and Salt & Pepper Shrimp da best. All server are friendly and considerate. If I had to say few things, I'd say would be better if there were more soup and desserts. I really want to try their "Duck" next time when I go to dinner.

They are also open again for lunch and dinner dine-in options as well.

Anti-Climatic. Best way to describe it. Food was average. The Chow Fun we order was better than the last place we went to. The food wasn't overly seasoned. The egg rolls were standard. Bok Choy was good, but not great. The biggest disappointment was the Sizzling beef Platter. When the dish is called 'Sizzling' you expect the dish to come out sizzling. It wasn't. It was the biggest let down, because you're expecting for a show. The beef was chunky. The tendons and fat between the meat was chewy and the vegetables weren't even sizzling. They were pretty much raw. It wasn't a terrible place. The staff was nice, but I don't think I'll go out of my way to drive all the way here again. Parking was crowded, meaning narrow spaces. It was a bit tight driving through the parking lot too.

    General chicken! Mmmmmm

Great place, but from the street it looks like it's empty. Looked at their menu and said I've got to try it. What a surprise! Their general chicken was delicious and appetizers were very pleasing. The staff are friendly family ran and operated. I would have all the employees park on the front so it looks like it's busy during the day. At night the parking lot looks active. It's a surprise and delightful to eat here. Bathrooms are clean and accessible for handicap. My new favorite Chinese food destinations.

We showed up right when they opened at 5:30 p.m. without reservations on a Wednesday evening and was luckily able to get seated at the bar. Between the two of us, we ordered a bunch of items off the "small" section of the menu, including the smokey sashimi, sizzling tetsuyaki poke, smoked tonnato caesar, crispy rice, and their special of the day -- agedashi wontons. Of the items we ordered, the crispy rice and the agedashi wontons were my favorite items. The crispy rice is priced per piece, and you'll certainly want to order at least two per person, because one is simply not enough. The rice block is fried a beautiful golden brown -- similar to a hash brown. The crispy rice pairs perfectly with the ono mixture on top of it. With the agedashi wontons, I initially thought the filling was a bit under-seasoned at first, but when enjoyed with the broth, the wonton comes out tasting perfectly seasoned. The broth had so much umami to it and the wonton had the perfect crunch to it I always love a good Caesar salad and the one here is spectacular. With anchovy croutons, shaved cured egg yolk, and smoked ahi dressing, you're getting some creative, premium ingredients in this salad and everything works so well together. Even if you're not a salad person, I would definitely recommend giving this dish a try. On top of delicious food, the service at Moon & Turtle was spectacular. Food was promptly brought out after we placed our order, pacing didn't ever feel rushed, our water cups were never empty, and our server checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. I would definitely stop by Moon & Turtle again if I'm in Hilo.

(I've attended speaker programs there, for example.) Tonight, we were down the few steps right past the restrooms, near the koi pond, and got to help sing happy birthday to someone during dinner! (FYI The staff really do sing well!) Chenoa's service was cheerful and bubbly, thank you so much! And she really tried to help me choose my entree ('cause the Hilo peeps all knew what they wanted, while the townie from Honolulu couldn't make up her mind amongst the many choices). We enjoyed calamari with their yummy sauce (with just a tad of a kick), escargot, salads, cocktails (some peeps), an array of entrees, and of course, desserts! Entrees included bacon wrapped scallops with pasta, shrimp with pasta, miso salmon, tekka maki and salad, and I was so happy with the furukake salmon that I finally chose! Some of us opted in for the $7 addition of soup (last night it was carrot ginger which I also would have loved, or salad (which I chose for the greens), and a warm bread with butter. Desserts included an affogato, mango lychee sorbet, sorbet trio (of mango lychee, raspberry, and pineapple), and a scoop of the kona mud pie ice cream. Everything was delicious and some had leftovers, perfect for lunch the next day! (And of course, Chenoa brought a clean cup of teriyaki sauce for that take out serving!) I also love that they keep a carafe of ice and water on tables with groups-so we could refill our glasses constantly. Oh, and mahalo to the owner who visited us, and helped sing happy birthday to our fellow guest. (Sorry, I didn't catch his name.) Mahalo Seaside, for yet another delightful evening and yummy meal, and Merry Christmas to you all!

The Kalbi ribs were sooo good! They were juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The Kalua pork was pretty good, and both meats paired well with the rice which had an interesting savory haupia sauce drizzled on it. The mango chili slaw and pineapple salsa added a nice tang to balance everything out. - Triple lilikoi pie (5/10): Wayyy too sweet and sugary for our liking, and you can barely taste the lilikoi flavor. We ended up just picking at the graham cracker crust and couldn't finish the rest. It seemed like one of those desserts that are premade unfortunately, and we wish we hadn't ordered this dessert.

Located inside a…read moreseemingly deserted food court inside a strip mall, Hawaiian Shrimp Company is well hidden. Unless you're actively looking for it, you probably won't stumble upon it randomly. Between the two of us, we shared a single plate with garlic shrimp and lilikoi shrimp and three sides -- two scoops of taro potatoes (extra charge for having a duplicate side) and some broccoli. For close to $30, the shrimp plate feels expensive, but you actually get quite a bit of food -- definitely enough for two to comfortably share. Between the two types of shrimp (a plate comes with four of each), I liked the garlic shrimp a bit more. I loved how intense the garlic flavor was in the shrimp. In the past when I've had garlic shrimp in Hawaii, it's always been drown in a pool of butter, resulting in an oily coat around your mouth after each bite. The shrimp here uses a fraction of the butter and oil used elsewhere, leaving a much cleaner taste after each bite. With the lilikoi shrimp, my first bite reminded me walnut shrimp: there was a subtle sweetness to the shrimp. Unlike the garlic shrimp, the lilikoi shrimp are butterflied, making it easy to distinguish between which shrimp is what flavor. The fact that the shrimp can even be butterflied means the shrimp used here are quite large in size, indicative of the value you're getting with your plate. With the sides, the broccoli is well-seasoned, and the taro potatoes have nice large chunks mixed in. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my meal at Hawaiian Shrimp Company. I understand some folks would be quick to write-off a restaurant as understated as this one, but definitely give it a try if you're looking for some good tasting garlic shrimp.

This location has been serving generations of local families like mine for decades. Formerly Queen's Court Restaurant at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, a local gem reinvented five years ago. To WSW Steakhouse. The hotel and restaurant are now officially part of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham, still owned and managed by Castle Resorts & Hotels Hawai'i. A fresh new dining concept replacing WSW will happen soon, before winter 2026. Complete with interior renovations, a refreshed menu, new wraparound bar and name. Here's an authentic snapshot, capturing my dining experiences at WSW before this transformation happens. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Tired of waiting for a breakfast table, want the convenience of making a reservation? Don't like your family placed on separate tables? Do you seek comfort and air conditioning in the morning? A venue that offers an upscale breakfast ambiance with ocean views? This is the place. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ À la carte breakfast at WSW is underrated and deserves promoting. The locals, I feel, need to know about this place. Served Mon-Fri with reservations available via the OpenTable app. Recently, I did a two-night stay at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. I decided to dine at WSW for all meals and it introduced me to their breakfast and dinner à la carte experiences. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Savory comfort, genuine hospitality, breathtaking morning views. Hungry? "I'm Starving", the portions and price point sure surprised me. 3 eggs, 2 breakfast meats, choice of starch and a short stack had me content beyond reason. These pancakes aren't premade for quick serving or, so large in size the quality of taste and texture diminishes. They're fluffy, sweet, pillowy with an airy interior, caramelized exterior. Enjoy an order of their hearty + comforting Housemade Corned Beef Hash, where each component melds perfectly together. The eggs are opulent in color and served with your choice of starch. This is my favorite. Their Belgium Waffle is light and delicate, deep subtly butteriness and balanced sweetness. Garnished with blueberries and whipped butter. Simple yet prepared with care. On Saturdays and Sundays, a $25 breakfast buffet with an omelet station is offered. For a $35 upcharge after 8am, enjoy steamed snow crab. carved Prime Rib and bottomless mimosas. A champagne brunch experience I've done many times. As WSW turns into a new dining concept, I hope breakfast remains unchanged. Food, service, ambiance, value, convenience. I currently rate it as the best breakfast spot in East Hawai'i. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Dinner. "Sizzling 16oz Ribeye", juicy and tender. Intense sizzle, the flavors were so on-point, the side sauce I ordered wasn't necessary. The quick sear rendered a perfect medium and the caramelized onions were so delicious, I ate them as a no-onion person. Served with garlic mashed potatoes, request a a baked potato upgrade. The Misoyaki Butterfish, moist with a caramelized glaze and rich umami flavor. I would recommend checking the texture of your rice though. Tinono appetizer, amazing flavor and texture profile. A must along with the creamy Lobster Mac 'n Cheese. This is the only restaurant on the East Side that offers a salad bar with dinner. For $10 with any entrée, four offerings plus two outstanding soup selections. The most hearty and delicious Clam Chowder I've had in a while, it deserves a spot on their new menu. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Weekend dinner, holiday and brunch buffets, this is what this location is known for since I was a kid. Even though the lavish offerings and prices have changed over time, the same charm of dining here still remains. I usually only come for two items, the rest is secondary. Snow Crab and Prime Rib. If both are prepared well, I'm satisfied. But there's times the prime rib is inconsistent in-flavor and texture. Yet, I always leave satisfied since everything else usually balances things out. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I feel a sense of belonging, the guest service at WSW makes me feel valued. From entry at the host stand, to the front team, to the managers. I don't feel like I'm just another transaction, but appreciated as a local resident and return customer. Live action stations (omelet/carving), the kitchen team has moments where their level of service isn't consistent with those in the front. It should add to the overall dining experience, be a part of the "show". There's a select few, seniors of the front team who create a meaningful connection each time. My dining experience becomes personalized with genuine empathy and emotional awareness. Thank you. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Let's celebrate their evolution, a brand refresh and dining concept change. I'm excited with anticipation and looking forward to supporting your new vision. Thank you for continually elevating the dining experience and welcoming myself + the community back for decades. As a new chapter unfolds, "Congratulations".
