I love the food here but i am disappointed in the service. My husband and i walked in and were never greeted. There was a sign that said if you have a togo order to go to the bar. While we sat there we made eye contact with two different waitresses. They both walked away. I grabbed a menu to look at what i wanted to order to take home while i waited. They walked back up and never said anything. One walked into the bar and stood across the bar top from me, grabbed chop sticks and walked away. We decided it wasn't worth getting their attention when we felt uncomfortable and went somewhere else. While walking out we noticed both waitresses in back eating. read more

Just threw the entire to go order in the trash. Anyone who knows anything of southeast asian food knows the rice is the foundation. The rice I was served was like minute rice or something. I am not sure why I did not try this place sooner other than I always forgot about it. A few days ago that changed when family was out of town and I was looking for dinner. Usually the first time I eat at a Thai place I will order Pad Thai, if they can not do that well I will not be back. i did order the Pad Thai medium hot (testing the heat levels, will be hot next time) and fried dumplings and both were very good. The service here was pretty good. My server was nice and the owner had checked up on me. Everyone was super sweet and kind. I got the Pad Thai and a Thai Tea. The food is where I had to knock off a few stars because I use to love this place. I would always get the pad thai in hot, and it's usually pretty spicy and flavorful. However, this time the pad Thai was more sweet than spicy. The potion and plating was nice though. I've had my fair share of Thai tea (it's amazing), but this was WAY too sweet. I waited for the ice to melt before I drank it, but it was still way too sweet. I end up icing it when I got home, but it didn't really taste like Thai Tea after that. read more

Came in on busy Friday, got yelled at by a waitress because the host was unclear and we were standing by a unbusted table. So not a great start. Then the rude waitress refused to wait on us, walking by multiple times, did not even receive a drink. Unfortunately as much as I like to support local business I will not return to Thai Spice. The food was mediocre. I ordered an LS roll that was 80% lettuce and so sticky you could hardly remove it from the the plate or cluster of pieces. When asked how we liked it by the waiter we said we didn't. He offered a different item and we declined. It took forever to get your food and my lunch date and I received our entree at different times. No order to the way it was all served! Thai Spice, at the Lee's Summit location at least, seems to be on a downward spiral. I remember eating there years ago when they still served whole ducks and it was absolutely delicious. They discontinued that due to low demand but continued to serve great traditional Thai food like the curries and basil stir fry. Then about a year ago my wife started to complain about the drunken noodles changing. I didn't identify it as a systemic problem at the time since the curries were still good and that is what I was sticking to. Then about 3 months ago we ordered a couple of bowls of beef pho soup. I had pho soup there before and it wasn't like Vietnam Cafe pho soup but it was okay. But this last time we ordered pho soup it came out bright red as if they mixed a bunch of red curry paste into it. Not good at all. Don't do that! Then yesterday we went there again and this time my son ordered Pad Thai. It was red! I'm not sure why it was so darn red. I ordered Thai Herbs w/Chicken for myself and it came out red too. My wife has a theory that in the past year they are just tossing whatever sauce they have on hand to whatever dishes they make. I'm done with this place. They went from 4 stars to 1 stars in about 1 years time. Not sure what happened. If you must go there, stick to the curries. read more

I am a typical Missouri native when it comes to trying something different. After over 50 years I finally try Thai food. Well, if all Thai food is as good as this was then I have to admit that I have missed out on something very special. The combinations of seasonings are what one of my fellow diners called "artistic". I had the Chicken Trio choice off of the Lunch Special card. It came with a fantastic "house salad" with a sweet and sour dressing, sliced carrots, tomatoes, cucumber and ground peanuts. The meal itself was big and I am a big eater. The chicken was thinly sliced in a fantastic sauce that I cannot really describe. Mixed in with the chicken was raisins, cashews and green onions. Even the big scoop of steamed rice on the side was perfect. The meal also included two perfectly prepared rangoons. My water ice-water had a fresh wedge of lime in it which was surprisingly tasty. All this for $8.95. Service was friendly and professional, atmosphere was great with soft jazz music, seating was very comfortable and parking was a breeze. They have a new fan. I should have tried them earlier. In this case being stubborn was my loss. read more

We went for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon (1:00 - 1:30), and while there were people there it was not what I would consider busy. The place is clean and has a welcoming décor. The service was fantastic without having them hover at the table. My wife and daughter had never had Thai before so they were very excited. We ordered the Chili Chicken, Pad Thai, and Spicy Basil Fried Rice. The Chili Chicken I thought was by far the best dish, it was very flavorful and had a nice spicy kick to it. The Spicy Basil Fried Rice was a pretty standard fried rice dish I think you could get almost anywhere and was not very hot at all (we fixed this with the use of the hot sauce and peppers they provided). The Pad Thai looked like a standard Pad Thai dish and was a great selection for my wife's first Thai dish. Given it was lunch and we ordered two waters and an iced tea with our meals I would say this is kind of pricey. When we are in Lee's Summit we would definitely give Thai Spice another try and sample some of the other menu selections. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Lees Summit. I normally go over the lunch hour because they are very quick and have great service. I was excited to try Thai Spice because I love the Thai food and environment of LuLu's (restaurant in KC) and was thoroughly disappointed with the meal, service, and overall experience of Thai Spice. The server had no manners, no patience, and no sense of hospitality/helpfulness while we were ordering and trying to enjoy our meal. The environment is dirty with overwhelming colors. The food takes forever to actually get and once you do actually get it, you will surely be disappointed. I got the Bangkok Platter, which was a stir fry of veggies, chicken, shrimp, peanut sauce, and peanuts. Sounds amazing right? Absolutely not. The peanut sauce was comparable to gravy and without it the veggies and meat might as well been boiled for more flavor because they were tasteless. I will never go back and I would recommend lulu's over this place any day. Save your money and take your business to a more caring, authentic, and better-tasting Thai place. read more

Had lunch there. The environment was very pleasant and servers were friendly and helpful. Ordered Basil stir-fry with pork. The dish came out looking very wet and soggy, and the meat was tough. It didn't look or taste like a stir-fry dish, more like a steamed dish with brown sauce. The spring rolls were not wrapped tightly. I was not impressed. Friends ordered Pad Thai, and they liked that. I placed an online order at 5pm. The time to pick up was 6:15. I arrived a few minutes early. I was told my order was not ready yet. That's fine, thinking it's not quite my pick up time yet. At 6:30, I ask about my food. They guy looks like he left to go say something to the kitchen. But, says nothing to me. 10 minutes goes by. I ask again. At this point I am not happy. I explain to the guy (same guy) if I wanted to sit here I would not have placed a to go order and that if he could not have my food to me in 5 minutes that I want a refund and I would leave. He again looks as if he goes to the kitchen and he does come back this time to say that it will be right out. Now, a young lady comes over and apologized for the 30 minute wait on my to go order. (In total now 1 hour 45 minutes since I ordered)she says my order is almost ready but, they would like to go ahead and refund my $43. I said thank you very much. That was really nice. Now I get my order and I'm on my way. Get to my destination and unpack our food to find that part of my order is missing. My appetizer is missing. My husband and I both order our food with medium spice. Turned out very bland. He had the Pho and I had the shrimp pad thai. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because they gave me a refund and my partial order. read more

The experience I had shows you can't always trust Yelp reviews. My experience was not even close to the others that generated a 4 star average. There wasn't anything I can say was a plus so I'll go straight to the cons. First con, I was charged an extra $1.25 for placing my order online. I decided then that I wouldn't order from them again unless it was excellent food. It wasn't. Second con, when I got to the restaurant, the woman working the bar who rang me up made me feel like I was an imposition to her. Third, the crab rangoon was second to the worst I ever experienced. The wraps were small, thin and tasted a little stale. Not much filler either. Third con, they charged me for the extra peanut sauce I ordered but didn't include it in my order. Fourth con, the phad thai was dry and not a great flavor. If they would have included the extra peanut sauce I ordered, it wouldn't have been so dry. I don't recommend this place. read more

Usually great food but ordered takeout last night and it was awful. Curry beef was tough, stringy and loaded with gristle. Crab Rangoon though cold still ok, satay chicken sticks, tough as the beef, cats enjoyed it but we didn't. Will think twice before getting takeout there again. read more

We love this Thai place! Probably eat it too often. It is a little expensive but it's worth it. My favorites are the Ginger delight stir fry with chicken and I love their pineapple fried rice.
