This place is a lovely charming little Thai restaurant. It's a modest sized spot tucked away in DR. The interior is tastefully appointed. It's warm, cozy & inviting. I ordered take out twice - pad soon sen, spring rolls, green chicken curry. ALL DELISH! I would definitely dine in if given the time. The food is excellent. It tends to be a bit pricey though. Grab take out or dining in their cozy dining room. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We dropped by on a week night, with the place mostly to ourselves. We were treating my sister to dinner and Thai Riverside was her pick. The menu had the usual traditional Thai dishes; noodle, curry, stir, and house specials. I like that the menu wasn't overwhelming either. We started with Thai Iced Teas that were creamy, strong flavor, and not too sugary. We got the Vegetable filled Thai Curry Puffs that were served with a tangy, bright cucumber sauce. These were delicious, the crust buttery and flaky. I ordered the Green Curry with Tofu which I absolutely loved. It had a spicy kick, the veggies were fresh, and the tofu had crispy edges. Curry is my usual go-to. My sister got the Broccoli Oyster Sauce with Chicken and my husband got the Pho Noodle Soup. They both enjoyed their meals. The potion sizes were generous too that we packed half of it for later. There aren't many other Thai food options in the area so Thai Riverside is a delicious choice. If you are not familiar with Chester Center, there are designated public parking lots everywhere, but since Thai Riverside resides in the Water Street building (backside) there is a parking lot for those businesses only. Delicious pad Thai! Crispy, crunchy, fresh. Everything you want in a chicken pad Thai and totally recommend when you've got a craving.

We haven't eaten inside the restaurant in years, but takeout is always delicious, hot, and correct. One of our go-tos for takeout.

Most of the times I have been here I would give it a five star review. Everything is usually fresh and very, very good. I feel like it is a little bit pricey for the small portions, but I don't mind because everything is usually extremely good. I was a little bit disappointed last night when I picked up though. The crab ragoon and the spring rolls were very dry and overcooked. All the other stuff just tasted different in meh this time. I also noticed that the prices on my receipt were higher than what their menu says. I definitely won't let that one that experience. Keep me away though. My husband and I were spending the weekend in CT and one of our favorite towns to visit is Chester. We were having a drink at the little house brewery across the street, so decided to have lunch nearby and chose Thai Riverside. I was excited to try Thai in a place that's mostly American food, see what it was all about. From the time we entered, it was already a disaster of an experience. It was really slow, which made sense for the time of day and the fact that it was a small town, so there was only one girl up front. She was on the phone when we walked in and didn't even acknowledge us. We stood there waiting, understanding that she was taking an order but this just went on and on. We got tired of waiting, so took two of the takeout menus that were on the counter and literally seated ourselves. She got off the phone a while later, came and switched out the menus, went on her way. It took a while to get her attention to take our order, which we were ready for since we'd been seated for a while on our own. Everything came out really slowly. We waited for so long for our food only to be rushed out the door barely 10 minutes after it came out. I understand that they typically have a break in the middle of the day where they close for a bit - but if they were really trying to push us out like that, why not just let us know only takeout was available or tell us the kitchen was closed. She dumped the check on the table RIGHT AFTER BRINGING OUT THE ENTREES. No asking if we were ready, not waiting to see if we'd order anything else, nothing. She kept coming back to see if we'd put a card down and it was so frustrating. We didn't even get to eat. She kept coming to us AS FOOD WAS ON FORK AND GOING INTO MOUTH, asking "you want box to go?!" NO I WANT TO EAT IN PEACE!!! The entire experience was a letdown which is sad because the food itself was alright. It was such a disappointing experience. We didn't finish our food, barely even got to touch any of it. What was beyond my ability to understand was how slow the service was if they really wanted to rush and close. The drunken noodles were medium spicy, which is just right for you to need a second glass of water and feel the slight burn and runny nose every spice lover craves. Pushing the spice tolerance edge just far enough. What was really awesome was that the meal didn't feel heavy or greasy the way Thai noodles tend to, it really tasted light and fresh rather than saturated with oil. Rude staff and poor service. Went for dinner and when we arrived there was hardly anyone there. We sat at the bar and ordered quickly. We had our appetizer and shortly after my dinner came, but my husband's food never came. Three tables filled and two left before his meal came and we asked what was the delay. Wow! accidentally drove into this charming lil main street of Chester off route 9 and stumbled upon this restaurant as I was badly craving some Asian food and looks like it might be the only one in the vicinity. The Thai sampler is a gr8 way to sample the appetizer menu.. it's shareable, there is 2 of each variety... my only quibble was the pad thai.. it was so dry and lacked flavor also didn't come with the usual side of crushed peanuts... on the contrary the pineapple fired rice was a pleaser...slightly oily but good. Great food; but disjointed service. I would give the food a 5. The restaurant is not very large maybe 12 tables and the bar takes up 1/3 of the whole dining space and is detailed like it used to be a tavern. There is plenty of Thai theme decor on the walls but it still has the low ceiling and, dark trim which emotes a feeling of a pub. We started with the fresh rolls which comes with a sweet chili sauce and sprinkled with peanut crumbs. They slice the rolls up like sushi which is different than what I've seen at other Thai restaurants. The rice paper was a little thicker than I prefer but overall they were fine fresh rolls with. We also got the chicken satay. This came with peanut sauce and a brined carrot/cucumber dipping sauce. This appetizer is 4 generous skewered of juicy delicious chicken meat. I ordered the Crispy Duck Salad as my entree. Also ordered by my party: Salmon Curry, Chicken & Broccoli, and the Crying Tiger Sirloin entree. Everyone thought the food was fresh and made with great ingredients. We we're given any silverware or napkins even after we had our food. Also our table got 2 of their plates for a little bit and naturally we waited for the other 2 entrees to arrive for our friends before we began eating. There was one server who was seemed to wait on the tables and the bartender also came out and helped with delivering the wine bottle and refilled our water glasses. Our table ordered a bottle of reasonably priced 14 Hands ($25) I had checked in on my Yelp-app and was delighted to see a "Use this 15% off coupon" window pop up. However when it came time to use it on our bill they told us that there was fine print ( that they could not show us) that said this was only towards take-out purchases. I came alone and ordered (Green) 18 PAPAYA SALAD Fresh papaya, green beans, grape tomatos, garlic and peanuts mixed with our spicy lime dressing over fresh romaine. I have been to Thailand for about 4 weeks and this salad was authentic and very fresh. I followed it with a 30 PHO NOODLE SOUP, Chicken, Vietnamese style noodle soup with thin rice noodle ,fresh cilantro, white onions served with basil, lime, chili pepper and bean sprouts. choice of meats. It was a lot of food but I did not want to leave a single bite because it was so good. . I have spent 2 weeks in Vietnam and this was as good as any food I had there. First time at this restaurant. Ordered the appetizer sampler and it was wonderful. Followed up with an order of Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken. On the menu, dishes that are spicy are marked with a red pepper. Pineapple Fried Rice was not marked as spicy. However, it was very spicy. Like after two bites the burn kicked in and I couldn't eat it. My husband couldn't eat it either. We checked the menu and noticed it wasn't mark with a red pepper. So, we ask the manager/waitress if there had been a mistake in the preparation. She took a spoonful out of our dish and said, "nope, that is not spicy." At this point my mouth and belly are burning, and I replied, "Yes, it is. It is burning my mouth." Again, she said, "no it is not. " She said there were no pepper flakes in the dish, and it is how they make it. Very argumentative and dismissive of our direct experience. I've had this dish dozens of times at other Thai restaurants and Pineapple Fried rice has never had a KICK like this. She wanted to argue it, and we did not. We asked for the check. When she came back with the check, she offered to remake it. That is odd as well. If in her opinion it isn't spicy, and that is just how they make it, and we found it way too spicy to eat, why is she offering to remake it? What would she change? Take out the overuse of spicy curry perhaps? What's more, if this is just how this restaurant makes this dish in all its spicy glory, and it was not marked on the menu as such, that just means you cannot trust anything else on the menu to not have the same spice level! Just know if your order something, it may be very spicy even if not marked as such. And if you ask the waitress if a dish is spicy, she will be using her own subjective taste and you could be in for an unpleasant surprise. And if you are unhappy with your dish, you will get an argument about your reality that is as unpleasant as the cooking. We will not be going back. read more
