And I wanted to try it again and I order the chow mein with chicken and before they used to give more and told I only got enough for one plate and before I was able to make two plates out of it .. I wish I could give ZERO star. This is the place where the most unfriendly people work. The service is terrible. They hand over togo boxes with the same hands that touched the trash can. I never want to go back there. I feel like I'm going to get sick from the food I ate there. read more

We used to go here a lot when we live close by. But then started going to Covina. Went back here today just for fun like good ol days-- but just realized the menu here my CV more expensive than in Covina, by like $5.00 example-- pad Thai was 17.25 here and it's $12.25 in Covina. That's a lot!! And we checked the rest of our order, and yes dangggg... Didn't realize restaurants do that. We'll just fyi to those who have options. I mean food was the same. They're all good. Just the location. $3-$5 difference for each dish. And if you're ordering like about 8-10 dishes.... that's a lot of difference. read more

Food is cold and not tasting as good as the S1 chicken barbecue they make before. When we picked it up after 15 mins we called to place the order, it is ready but it is already cold. Not as good quality of food as before anymore. read more

From church , we went to this place . Yes we kinda love the food but will never ever come back ! Why ? We ordered 4 entrees , a liitle bit too much for my husband and I & one can of coke ( minding my sugar) The server who identified herself as a manager refused to give me an extra cup for the coke , according to her with a very insulting comment and notions and flying arms " too busy and another cup for one Coke ! This person will cause this business to collapse due to her ill customer service . I walked out before the food were served incredibly disappointed scary to spend a good day here . The hostility is beyond comprehension . read more

Look, I grew up eating Thai BBQ so there is a sense of nostalgia factor at play. It's not good no matter how you slice it, when it's bad though it's really bad. Picked up to go order and everything looked good until I flipped over the chicken in both S1 orders and saw burnt chicken legs. They were obviously trying to hide it, not cool. Because of the current environment, I am not about to go out again to return this, so there goes money down the drain. Consider this the last time I go to Thai BBQ. read more

Bad service discriminating Hispanic people and the food took forever mind you they had the wrong order

Service was very slow and I was the only one there! Lol. Also, waitresses seem to be interested on what's playing on their TVs more than paying attention to their customers. I guess I'll be looking for a new Thai restaurant. This used to be a great place to eat. Not sure what happened. Probably won't be coming back. read more

S-8 beef all the way!!! I literally crave this at least once a month. It's a generous helping of 8 satay sticks with their delicious rice, and I always always get extra peanut sauce because that sauce is so good on my satay AND rice! I also love their coconut soup with chicken on a rainy day, or when I'm sick, or just anytime. I love that they're open for takeout during this madness. Just call ahead and they'll have your order ready for pick up! read more

Thai Original BBQ - S8. Sate Dinner beef - Thai Near Me - Glendale, California

The food here is delicious, and the quality has not wavered since 1986! The service is excellent and friendly, and the restaurant is orderly and clean. I recommend the S1and S2. Can't go wrong! I'm sure everything in their menu is top notch, but these are my favorites!!! read more

Went in August 2023. Ordered satay dish, tom yum kum, drunken noodle, pad thai, and basil pork. I was quite surprised as I've been to Thai Original BBQ at this location and in LA and it was one of the best Thai food I had in a long time. ALL the dish were excellent and tasted far better than what I recall from previous visits. Keep it up. read more

Update review: We were worried what this pandemic might do to this amazing restaurant and it's wonderful employees. Ordered lunch for Mother's Day and was thrilled to know there was over an hour wait and a line outside the door. That's how great their food and service is. May they continue to be blessed This place, the food and the staff never ever disappoints. They always accommodate our special requests. The BBQ spareribs is always so tender, fall off the bone soft. The Namsod is perfectly seasoned all the time. Our all time favorite is the Seafood A La Thai Coconut Soup. They're always generous with the portions and always greet us with a smile. It's the reason we always always come back. This is our favorite place to eat at after Sunday mass. Thank you for always making our stay so delightful. If you haven't tried this place yet, please do yourself a favor and go right away. You won't regret it! read more

I've been to a few locations of Thai BBQ and they're pretty much similar. They do get busy at holidays and parking is not always great but it is what it is. Lunch time on weekends is busy. Some employees are friendly and others not. The ambiance is okay. Mostly everyone is interested in eating the food. We always order beef satay, chicken curry, one of the noodles and Thai ice tea. There are other places like this, but we prefer coming here since we know the food tastes great and consistent. My 2 cents. The one off Glendale Avenue we've been going to since late 80's. read more

I grew up on Thai BBQ. Honestly, you can never go wrong with Thai BBQ. Is it the best quality thai food? Probably not, but it's consistent, reliable, and affordable. We went bowling next door and decided to have family dinner afterwards here. This was my first time going to the Thai Original BBQ in Glendale (my OG is the Panorama City one), but I was still excited to eat some delicious food!! We ordered our faves, the S1 and S2 as well as the seafood soup. Everything came out quickly and without any problems. Usually, I get the seafood soup in a large metal container bowl where the fire goes through the center hole, but here it's just a pot (which was totally fine since it didn't affect the flavor or experience at all). I love their seafood soup, which is full of mushrooms, squid, fish, clams, and tomatoes. I also absolutellyyyy love their chicken and spare ribs but somehow their orange rice is the star of the show!! It's so good!!! We also got the thai teas which are, yes, very sweet and yes, mostly taste like half and half and sugar, BUT it reminds me of my childhood and it is DELICIOUS. read more

As far as the chicken is concerned It definitely isn't what my taste buds remember, BUT, the signature Thai BBQ sauce makes up for it. We took the take out option and I frequented the restaurant growing up as a kid. It was good because I hadn't had it in a decade or so. read more

This is my go to place when I want comfort food! Parking: it shares a small lot with other office buildings so it could be pretty tricky on a busy day There's a good amount of seating in the restaurant. Service: 5/5 The ladies here are sweet and very attentive. The food comes out really fast as well. Food: 5/5 Chicken Soup A La Thai BBQ - this soup is theeee best. It's like a coconut Tom yum kind of soup. Comes with chicken or seafood and has mushrooms. S-2 BBQ pork spare ribs with fried rice - this is a huge portion and could be shared. The ribs are so good and falls right off the bone. Be sure to dip your ribs in the sweet and sour sauce they give you. Enjoy! read more

I don't usually leave reviews but this is the first time I felt humiliated in a restaurant. I have been coming here for many years as it's a family favorite. Our server (older lady) was very polite. I made a mistake of asking the other female server (first time seeing this person) to take a picture of our family. She rudely replied "can't you see we are busy here'' and gave me a nasty stare. The restaurant wasn't even half full at that time. It totally ruined our dining experience even though the food was good. read more

We went to have lunch, and the pork fried rice was mushy, the rice would get stuck in the serving spoon. The pork was not bbq pork it was steam pork of some kind, it tasted like chicken, and the serving was not even enough for 2 people. The sweet and sour chicken was not that great either. I ordered the Thai tea, and if I did not want ice, they charged an extra $2.25 . I have been going to a different Thai original bbq, and it's never been this bad. read more

I really do not like leaving a bad review. So, for the purpose of possibly helping someone avoid this location, I'm leaving this review. Do not eat here. It is not clean and the food was inedible. Shrimp salad came out with globs of boiled shrimp film all over the lettuce. It tasted off. It was also served with a bunch of stale ruffles chips on one side of the plate which was so odd. The pineapple fried rice was one large mush with zero seasoning. We paid and left. Came home feeling sick for hours. Do not eat here. read more

Thai Original BBQ (this specific location) has been a place my wife and her family have frequented for decades. Personally, I've visited maybe 10-15 times and each experience has been wonderful. I've tried a handful of items on their menu and have been satisfied with them all, some more than others. I would highly recommend the following: - Garlic Spare Ribs (ULTIMATE FAVORITE) - Shrimp Fried Rice - Crispy Duck - Pad Thai - Tom Yum Soup - Thai BBQ Chicken - Shrimp with Broccoli (FAVORITE) Make sure you get some extra sauce on the side. They'll make you pay for it but it's totally worth it. I would skip the Pad See Ew. Though it's one of my favorite noodle dishes, for some reason they can't quite get it right here. Keep an open mind as you're eating BBQ Thai food so it's a bit different than your traditional Thai dishes. It's also much lighter than Chinese food, which makes you feel less gross after eating. The staff isn't the friendliest but I'm not visiting to make friends so it'll do! Ha. Overall, you have to try it out. read more

I loved it! The pork spare ribs basically fell off the bone. Delicious flavor. The Thai iced coffee was sweet and strong! The shrimp fried rice was slightly sweet and yummy. I am sitting in the restaurant while typing this review. I was shocked that they served our food cold! I told the server about it and her response was "Do you want me to "heat it up" for you?" To my surprise, they just put the food in the microwave! The only reason I know this for sure is that I took a bite of the chicken and they gave me my plate back the same way I gave it to them!!!! We were hungry so we ate the food. When I was eating , I noticed that some of the pieces were burnt! It was charred!!! I didn't want to complain again because the servers were rude and unfriendly. So, I didn't eat the chicken leg. It is so disappointing that this is how we got our food today. I hope they go back to how they used to do things. read more

Went here over a week ago. This being one of our go to places as a choir after mass, we don't get too disappointed with the food and service. The restaurant is very accommodating with our large group of about 10 and we get our round of waters and orders in quick. I ended up getting the chicken satay that comes with Shrimp Fried Rice, peanut sauce, and I asked for their Thai BBQ house sauce as an extra. Our food definitely comes in waves at a time x spending what you order. Seems like soup first, than the meat and rice dishes, and lastly the dishes with noodles. One of our friends always gets some form of noodle dish and they never seem to fail to give his meal as soon as the rest of us hit midway or more through our own. Everything tasted great and we all had a fun time just talking and laughing during the course of the meal, but our waiter was passive aggressive in telling us to make our way out after paying our bill and letting the food settle in as we conversed more. She was just lingering near our table just waiting to clean up our table and break into smaller tables for the next parties to sit down. read more

Good food is undeniable. We've been to this place many times and never been disappointed with all those visits. We always start our meal at this place with Tom Yum soup, the sweet and fresh smell of lemon grass and the delightful taste of the broth, is an explosion of wonderful flavors in your mouth. The Pad Thai consistently reaches our table as it is really good, peanuts can be ordered on the side for those who may have an allergic reaction to it. The house special fried rice is truly a delight to your taste buds, combined with Angel wings and a special ordered beef Panang - it is truly an al a carte combination worth coming back for again and again! I highly recommend this place, weekends can be a bit crowded especially on Sundays after church (around noon), however, the wait is worth every minute, give this place a try - it is a meal far from the pretentious "asian" smorgasbord other places entice you. read more

I like going to this place. Food was very good and service was very quick. The ambiance is very homey and I just like dining in.

My dad used to take me to the Thai Original BBQ in Hollywood when I was a kid. So, I grew up on the S-1. I think this restaurant chain created the standard menu for Thai restaurants. The S-1 being Thai BBQ chicken with shrimp fried rice. S-2 being bbq spare ribs and S-3 rana shrimp...etc. The S-1 is the best deal in town which is a half chicken that feeds me for 3 meals. Not bad for $7.99 or so.. The pad see yu is also good here. If you show up for take out, they're really quick and made to order. read more

For as long as I've lived in LA I've been strictly going to this location for whatever reason. First off, parking was limited years ago but now there's tons of parking. I'm one to make sure parking is easy for me when I go somewhere. I came in on a rainy day craving for some soup. My family and I were seated and was given a few minutes to look over the menu. I feel like the menu has not changed at all through the years. I got the usual spring rolls, Tom Yum, s2 spare ribs and s1 chicken with Thai iced tea. The food came in a timely matter and we were made sure we were satisfied. If I'm craving Thai BBQ I'll definitely be back. From Mon-Thurs they are closed between 3pm-5pm just a heads up! read more
