She insists that it's one of the absolute best curries she's ever had, and we've had curries in a lot of places. Absolutely the BEST Masaman curry I've ever had! Beautiful vegetables with loads of flavor. Service was impeccable and prices more than reasonable . I only upped my heat to two peppers , but my sister had four peppers , and loves the kick . The chicken Thai spring rolls were beautifully done and tasted like a spring morning. I hate writing reviews but dislike bad reviews even more. Disappointed is the only word I have. The Scallop Bamboo dinner had 6 very small dime sized scallops for almost $20. The pad Thai had a red hue which was weird and vinegar flavor more than peanut. The spring rolls were almost zero vegetable and rolled so tight and small it was like a churro. It was actually difficult to taste anything other than the exterior wrap. The Lemongrass soup was not exceptional but no complaints. It was the only highlight after spending over $70 on a carry out order. I've eaten Thai across the US. So this review is tempered with the understanding of location but the final product was woefully inadequate. read more

This has been one of our favorite restaurants for a long time. We just visited their new location for the first time The staff was very kind and attentive. The food came out quickly and was clearly made to order. It seems they've changed the pad Thai recipe (a redder sauce) and the noodles for the pad see ew are different (unfortunately they're the thinner version served everywhere not the thick ones they used to serve at their old location). It was all good, but not like it used to be. Also, there is a much smaller dining area. That's not a problem, but there was a lot of clutter around like boxes stacked by the bar and lots of things laying around on the bar. read more

I love Thai, and eat it very often, so I wasn't extremely impressed with this place but it was definitely a decent meal compared to anything else in the area. Our waitress was nice and suggested the beef basil dish for me since I like spicy stuff. My mom tried the green curry and she liked it okay. We shared the lemongrass soup, which was similar to tom yum, and it was tasty but a small bowl for $5. I was happy with my meal. Prices were about right and the portions were a good size. Every time I come to Cleveland I come here. Don't waste your time with anything else on the menu except the chicken ka ka pow. It is amazing. It comes with s little spice but I add hot sauce too. Their hot sauce has a great tomatoe flavor and is more flavor than heat. The fried eggs on top really sets the dish off. I also got the coconut chicken soup. One of the best I ever had. Really creamy if you like that kind of thing. It has an assortment of vegetables in it and a lot of chicken so you don't feel like you are just sucking down broth. read more

This is a lovely neighborhood Thai spot. The staff received us warmly and provided courteous service. I had a generous helping of their pad Thai and it was slightly on the sweet but savory :) A fave of mine is their Curry puffs appetizer which comes with a cucumber syrup dip. So yum. The only desire that comes in mind is that they would provide a spice condiment tray most Thai restaurants bring to the table, so that we may adjust spice levels to our personal tastes with authentic Thai ground pepper or chili vinegar. (Really missing this common, almost standard offering.) Also, i want to add that they have some of the better tasting spring rolls around. I've been burned by a few spots in Cleveland with bad spring rolls either off in flavor or texture, but here are uniformly crisp and simple spring rolls that make the mark. read more

I love Thai Orchid. This is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to and I eat here way too often. There is one waitress who remembered my order after I went 3 weekends in a row, she is incredibly kind. Thai Orchid has yummy appetizers (I love the spring rolls with a vinegary dipping sauce), delicious main courses and pretty quick service to tie it all together. As my main meal, I typically get pad see ew or pad Thai but they have a very large selection on their menu (I would consider myself a picky eater). They always ask what level of spice you want and I usually get a level three which is not spicy to me, but I love spicy food. Their serving sizes are pretty large as well as I always leave with a box to take home. I have also ordered takeout from here and it was a quick and pleasant experience, by the time I arrived my food was ready and I didn't have to wait. I have never had a bad meal here, the prices are affordable, the dining area is clean and the food is delicious (: p.s. The candy by the register is the best. read more

This little strip-mall gem gets four star automatically because when they say "very spicy", they mean "burn your face off." And I like it hot. I met my Mom here for lunch recently and wasn't sure what to expect. Sometimes you find great treasures in suburbia, but most of the time it's pretty lame. But I trusted my mother's taste, since she rarely ever steers me wrong. I'd say this was your typical, strip mall Asian decor--but the service was nicer than I was anticipating. I got there a little late and they close for dinner at 3pm. They told my Mom that it would be OK if we ran a little late and they had no issues with that. While my taste buds most likely remember the burn, my brain can't quite remember the name of the dish I enjoyed. But damn it was good. Spicy chicken and veggies with basil on a heaping scoop of brown rice. I thoroughly enjoyed that you have a choice here between white rice and brown. My Mom had the spicy green beans which I also tried and really liked! Peanut sauce with a kick...I'm in! Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're looking for Thai in the endless chain restos of Mentor suburbia. It's not fancy, but it's good and cheap. This is my mom's favorite Thai place - and each time I have visited her, we always make sure to eat here at least once! Though it is situated in a horrible strip mall - such eyesores are hard to avoid in Northeastern Ohio, the Cleveland area is lousy with them - inside is a clean, well decorated restaurant - someone really put some thought into coordinating the furnishings without going over the top with Thai trinkets and memorabilia - don't you hate going into a Thai restaurant that features exquisite headdresses and dance costumes but covered in dust? This is not that place. The food here is delicious and consistent - the service is always excellent. The staff is very helpful in checking with the kitchen on the use of Nam Pla (fish sauce) and they are happy to make any of their dishes vegan-friendly (or hella spicy!). It amazes me that this type of cuisine seems so novel and "different" to folks in these parts and you really do see a wide range in the other clientele. On this particular luncheon date with my mother, we noticed two young men with dark skin who looked Indian - wearing the distinctive uniform of foreign programmers: tidy golf shirts and khaki slacks. Their discussion of the menu indicated that this was their first time eating Thai food - and they must not have known what to expect. Before the food came, one of them stood up and took a couple of cloth napkins from the center row of tables that was set up for dinner - handed one to his friend - and both of them opened the napkin up, spread it across his own chest and then pinned it down with his arms - with the paper napkin across his lap. Fully bibbed - these men were prepared for a pie eating contest! My mom and I tried to be polite (as in - not falling down laughing) - but I couldn't resist saying something to them - it was "You know, if you eat more slowly, you won't get food all over the place!" read more

Comfort food delivered to the comfort of your home. It's a win win! I was in the Mentor area visiting with a friend a day prior to them having surgery. You know the pre-surgey drill - no solids 24 hours before. I was doing my best to be considerate of her discomfort but she suggested ordering some soup for her. She got the tofu soup, which was loaded with fresh veggies and tofu and I tried the Massaman curry. She downed the broth like it was holy water And couldn't wait to add more veggie broth to the veggies the next day after she was cleared to eat. She said it was incredibly flavorful and soothing. I did the Massaman curry with tofu and was impressed with the fresh veggies-cooked to a nice crisp texture. The taste? Mouth watering! SOOOO good! Thai Orchid has an excellent menu with just enough options and room for variability without it being overwhelming. With extensive selections ranging from stir fry, fried rice and more with chicken, beef, duck, pork, shrimp and fish options that leave you wanting to try something new every time you go there. My favorite menu items are the Pad Kee Mao (Flat rice noodles stir fried with a choice of beef, pork or chicken, garlic, egg, onion, broccoli, carrot, baby corn, Chinese broccoli, bean sprout, red pepper and basil for $12.00), Baby Wings (7) (Marinated chicken wings in Thai herbs, deep fried until golden brown, served with sweet & sour chili garlic sauce for $7.00) and Satays (5) (Choice of marinated chicken or beef grilled on skewers, served with peanut sauce and cucumber salad for $7.00). Went for friends birthday. Lots of selections for appetizers and so we ordered 3 for the table veggie spring rolls, spring egg rolls with meat and mushrooms and order of dumplings..oops I guess 4 mussels. We shared the 4 spring rolls and 4 dumplings and the other 3 enjoyed the mussels and veggies. We then ordered our meals and plenty of food to bring home for a 2nd meal. Husband ordered fried rice with veggies and chicken and shrimp. Hot peppers around the plate for extra kick. I ordered thai noodles with chicken and asked to hold the bean sprouts. Birthday boy ordered thai noodles and for additional $2 got extra chicken. Hot tea is $2 the place was packed and the food is really good. The one issue is consist with one waitress.
