Thi Ni Thai is conveniently located in downtown Oberlin by the Oberlin College. It conveniently has a large parking lot in the back. It is also open on Mondays unlike many other restaurants in the area. The restaurant has a very cute mural outside. Inside it's very colorful and has cute Thai art on the walls. It's definitely a place that looks authentic. I read the menu while inside and it had so many choices including cocktails and many food options. Many choices for any taste! I was really looking forward to trying Thai food here. Unfortunately, I ended up walking in and out due to disappointing service or the lack thereof. When I walked in (almost at 7 PM), there was a long line of diners that were not acknowledged. They were confused and asking each other where to wait and who will take their table reservation. It was very unclear where the hostess is, where to pick up orders, or wait for a table. The restaurant is very small and was overpacked on a Monday night. I had to wait an extremely long time right in front of the hostess to be acknowledged. The wait time for a table was 45 minutes to 1 hour. The wait for to go order was also 45 minutes. I would probably wait but it was scorching hot inside despite it being it being the 70's outside. I was hoping that the service would be more attentive. My suggestion to anyone visiting is to figure out a time when they're not busy. The food is probably very good, but get ready for not so good service and extended waits.

The food is great for anyone looking to explore northern Thai cuisine. While it's a bit of a trek from Cleveland proper, they serve dishes from northern Thailand so it's something different from the typical South Thai-style food. As someone who has visited Thailand and is familiar with Southeast Asian flavors, I found that the dishes here leaned much sweeter than how it's traditionally made, but they were still good. We tried the Boat Noodles and Khao Soi, both very flavorful. The portions are good but I find that both needed much more broth. It's a cute space, plus great cocktail and mocktail options

New location for Thi Ni Thai

When we dropped our son off at Oberlin 4 years ago, we ate here at the old location and service and food was above and beyond what we expected. We came back this past week to find we were just in time for their new, updated location to open and got reservations. (Word around town was that you HAD to get reservations....definitely true.) While they were still training their servers and "working out the kinks", we were blown away by it all. Great atmosphere, friendly, prompt service, and the most flavorful Thai food we've ever had. I wish this weren't one of the last times we'd be around, highly recommend.

    Very unusual kitchen help.

Fast service, very good food and price not too outrageous. Making money for the Trump gang as they are very loyal Trump supporters! We enjoyed the dishes, some out of the main stream. Sort of a Burmese - Thai fusion. One-star demotion for supporting the Trump gang! But we understand why everyone should be scared of a dictator and love you anyway.

Part of the MENU at Thi Ni Thai in Oberlin, Ohio (Thursday, 30 Nov. 2023)

A quick google search by a friend brought me here. I visited on Friday, 30 November 2023 when I was in Oberlin with my friend Naila and her friend to see a piano recital performance by Jeremy Denk at Oberlin College & Music Conservatory. We stopped by to have an early dinner before the music performance. BUSY ON FRIDAY NIGHTS -- I believe we arrived around 6:30pm and left around 7:15pm because the music concert started at 7:30pm. We got lucky to find 3 seats at the bar right as we entered because there were no tables left. We didn't mind rushing ourselves out because we still had lovely conversations and a hearty meal. FOOD -- Let's get right into it. You'll have plenty of dinner options to choose from their menu or lunch if you visit during lunch hours. I ordered the Phat Kaprow ($14) which is one of my staples at any Thai restaurant. It is also called Kra Praow at other establishments but here the menu has it listed as "Phat Kaprow". It tasted just as good as I expected especially with the basil in it. It came with side of white rice in a small bowl and a plate of ground chicken mixed in with green beans. The chicken and green beans mixture was so flavourful and juicy in the little teriyaki-like sauce. The sauce was really a chili and garlic mixture, I think. The dish also came with a very small side salad of arugula and cucumbers. I enjoyed getting some rice, placing it on my main plate with the chicken/green beans, and gobbling it all up - YUM!! Praise the Lord for food. DRINKS -- I was given a complimentary cup of Thai Iced tea which is made with condensed milk and it was one of the best drinks that I've ever had. It was so rich and sweet because of the condensed milk used to make it. I believe the regular price might be $5 but check their drinks menu. I want to drive all the way back here just to buy the Thai iced tea drink because I had previously never had a drink like that before. I don't drink alcohol but there are plenty of options for you to choose from so just ask. If you don't plan to travel to Thailand in Asia anytime soon then I suggest visiting Thai Ni Thi restaurant if you're in the downtown Oberlin area or if you're close to Oberlin College. ThaiNi Thi has plenty of inexpensive food options and warm customer service. BONUS -- There is a free parking lot in the back. It had been years since I first visited so we went out for a date night to see all the changes. They have have a great covered patio area. The restaurant is bright and fresh with all the lights. I loved the pictures in the bathroom. The food is always interesting to try. I wish they had a sampler platter so you could get a variety of instead we just ordered a couple dishes and shared. The spring rolls are delish. I tried the curry and a house special. I love the fresh vegetables and the unique flavors. They also have a great drink menu with mocktails!

This place just does not miss. I hadn't been in a while, sad to say. Visited again recently and they have expanded the restaurant and the menu! We sat on the patio and our waitress was lovely. We had the green curry with chicken, phat kee mao (drunken noodles) with beef, grilled pork collar, and spring rolls. I tried a few of their mocktails. For dessert, we tried the new homemade coconut ice cream with sticky rice and mango. Everything, food/drinks/service/atmosphere, was FANTASTIC. So flavorful and perfectly executed. Chef Aon does an amazing job, and despite the restaurant being very busy, he stopped by to chat. I love love love this restaurant.

Amazing dinner tonight! Got drinks at the bar while waiting for a table. Izzy was a fabulous bartender and the gift that kept giving because she also waited on us! The drinks, apps, meals were delicious. Cannot speak highly enough of Izzy, she was such a joy! As well Evie, the lovely hostess. Overall such a great dinner, amazing service, and great environment. Will absolutely be back and would suggest to anyone in the area!

Amazing!!!! My bf and I dined in for the first time last night and enjoyed our whole experience! The atmosphere is very relaxing and has a cute almost tiki bar feel to it by the colors and decor. Our server, I believe her name was Madeline or Madison, was very friendly and informative, making sure to ask us about our dietary needs and if we have allergies. She seemed very well trained and made sure we were getting what we wanted. Our drinks were delicious and I get so excited for unique cocktail menus, and theirs certainly didn't disappoint! I got the Thai Basil margarita, and my bf got their version of a whiskey sour. We shared the spring roll appetizer that was on special, it had pork belly. Omg!!! The flavors were so bomb, and the sauce it came with was perfectly paired!! My bf ordered the curry soup with ribs, and I got Shrimp and tofu phat Thai. Our dishes were so beautiful, and the flavors were so exotic, complex and balanced. The ingredients are fresh, their spices are authentic and we are so looking forward to coming back soon! My bf said that was the best meal he had all year, and we are serious foodies!!!

Every so often you go to place and are wowed. And this is the "wow" place. The food is so good here I want to tell everyone. Be sure to make the drive and try everything in the menu. We had Khao Soi - with Ribs this coconut curry base comes in a large soup bowl with crunchy noodles and soft noodles. The owner came over and recommended that we squeeze fresh lime juice on it. The ribs we were so tender that the meat fell off the bone. Our favorite was Phat Karpov...chili paste, Thai basil, stir fry sauce and garlic. Just amazing. We had a chicken dish, Laap Chiang Mai, looked mild and turned out to be a fiery masterpiece. And then Aon , the owner, and chef came out a brought us a complimentary portion of Gangnam Style Lamb. We are still talking about how soon we can come back. Go here!!

Been waiting for an opportunity to come and dine here! Things to know: it's amazingly popular so plan to come early or late and have a wait. Good news is the bar makes amazing cocktails which is where we began while waiting for the table. I had the version of the Mai Tai called Muy Thai which was a very traditional Trader Vic's style and Delicious. My girlfriend had the Tamarind Whisky sour and it was also fantastic. For appetizers we ordered the veggie spring rolls, which were a portion of two but very well made. A great first bite. Second appetizer was the Spicy fried tofu. I loved it but at Medium it was a bit too hot for her. Second thing to know is that medium here is hot most anywhere else! For mains she had the tofu pad Thai which was very well prepared and savory. Not too sweet as you find some places! Nice size portion and a good value. I had the Khaa Soi Shrimp from the Chiang Mai side of the menu. Savory coconut milk based with mild spice. Delicious. I also tried the Beerlao Dark. Works very well with the mild and spicy dishes, low hop level and also highly recommended. My first Laotian beer. Staff was very busy and very efficient, with lots of good suggestions to help you navigate the menu. Very tidy and clean inside with multiple dining rooms. Ample parking in the rear of the restaurant. Outstanding experience and will join them again. Only thing I'd improve if the comfort of the table stools, but then I May stay too long !

My boyfriend and I were driving through Ohio and we didn't know where the good local restaurants were. We stopped at a park, and ask the park staff and he recommended this place. I really enjoyed knowing about the owners background so without hesitation, we went here and ordered their daily special and the locals favorite. The food came out fast and was so delicious, I was stuffed within 4 bites! The appetizer we ordered were Brussels spouts. The Thai tea was AMAZING!!! I really like that they have patio seating and it just felt so opening to the public! If I could give this location more than 5 stars I would do it in a heartbeat!!!

Gotta admit this place kinda blew me away. I typically don't stay in Medina when I'm in Ohio…read more Downtown Cleveland is normally where we go. Didn't know much about Medina. I just googled Thai food and this is where it directed me. We ordered the Crazy Noodles and the Lemongrass Chicken. Shockingly good. We are originally from Southern California but currently living in the Chicago area. We've tried a lot of Thai places. A LOT. The service here was very good although they seem to be short staffed like a lot of places. They seem to do a lot of take out. Next time I will try their mango sticky rice and their shrimp lemon grass soup. I am a little surprised they didn't serve pad see ew which is a great alternative to pad Thai. Their crazy noodles were kinda like pad see ew but much sweeter and without the egg. Anyway, we are definitely returning if we are back in the area.

We visited Sweet Mango Restaurant yesterday during lunchtime, and it was such a great experience…read more We've also been to their Strongsville location before, so we already knew we were in for delicious food. Lunch is a perfect time to go if you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, since you still get a full, satisfying meal at a great value. We were warmly greeted as soon as we arrived and offered beverages right away. We chose water, jasmine tea, and green tea, all of which were served promptly. I asked about the summer rolls, and within just a few minutes they were on the table--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. When we placed our orders, every dish came out delicious and well-presented. It was so good that all three of us even ordered soup to take home for later. The service throughout our visit was excellent, and the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed. There was even a group of senior women playing cards on the other side of the restaurant, which added to the warm, welcoming feel of the space. Later that day, I enjoyed the seafood coconut soup I brought home, and it was still perfectly warm thanks to how carefully it was packaged. Overall, everything was delicious, the service was outstanding, and the experience was genuinely enjoyable. I would absolutely go back again and highly recommend it.
