Atmosphere - below average. The building is old and it is dark inside. I have dined inside once and had takeout twice. I would recommend takeout, as the dining area is a little dingy. Service - good. The staff is very attentive and pleasant. Food- mixed experience. The fried rice is very good, as are the soups and dumplings. The Sesame chicken is decent (if a little over breaded), The lo mein is virtually inedible (way too many vegetables) Overall - average. Select your menu items carefully and you will be very happy. I believe in supporting small businesses during this difficult time and hope that everyone will as well. Corona- the restaurant is currently operating on takeout only. The staff seems to take the steps necessary to comply with safety recommendations. The employees wear masks and signs outside require the same of customers. This restaurant is located in an area with not much around. The inside is nothing special and could actually use a good cleaning and organizing. The menu has a nice selection and prices are decent. I had a small wonton soup, which was actually a bowl, so larger than I expected. The soup was very good and full of wontons and pork. I had ordered an egg roll, which they ended up bringing with my entree, which didn't thrill me. The egg roll was decent. We shared the chicken lo mein and Kung Pao chicken. They brought us shrimp lo mein by mistake and since I had already started eating it, we let it go. The portions are very large and we would have been more than fine with just one of those items. The Kung Pao had loads of chicken, but no heat to it, which was disappointing. The lo mein was less lo mein and more vegetables, which was also disappointing. I came into this place truly hopeful and expecting to experience the fullness of all that was boasted by the 4.5 star average rating that beckoned me to try it out. Not to say that i set the bar too high, but i was optimostic and open-minded. The lady who took my order and checked me out was very nice and pleasant. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken and chicken teryaki w/ some ccicken wings. I must be straight forward - all the food was low quality (even for chinese takeout standards). Very soggy, rubbery and definitely not fresh. I threw the chicken wings out - they were discolored and the first few bites were unbearable (i didn't stop at one bite, i attempted 3 more bites of randomly selected chicken wings, all with the same result). I'd love to say that ill give this place another try, however, we were so sorely disappointed that we just dont care to try it again. We will stick with Jin House. read more

The first thing is that this place could use a thourgh deep cleaning! The entrance is atrocious! Big long black cobwebs hanging all over. The sticky tables and chairs! The Decour is a little outdated but the food is delicious. My favorite this year is very simple chicken fried rice with extra chicken. They use real chicken breast meat for the chicken and no cubed chicken that looks like cat here. They also have some American dishes as well as Chinese dishes here. If you like eggroll you have a choice of pork eggrolls or vegetable eggrolls. Being that Lorain Ohio is an international city there are tons of great restaurants in this town and Chinese food is no exception. read more

The menu is your typical American style Chinese food but I did find one dish I didn't recognize. Hong Sue Tofu. Very good!! I have been ordering take-out from the Pine Garden since I was a little girl. There are plenty of Chinese restaurants in Lorain County, but in my opinion the Pine Garden has always been one of the best. I'll be honest, the restaurant isn't located in the greatest of neighborhoods That said, I have never had any problems with safety and am totally comfortable going there after dark. The interior of the restaurant isn't anything special and is a little on the dumpy side, but I can definitely excuse that because the food and service are great! I suggest ordering take-out and eating the food in the comfort of your own home. A few years ago I ordered a ton of food for my high school students because they had earned a classroom party. I went and spoke with the manager (owner?) the day before and he was very accommodating. He totally hooked me up with a ton of food for a great price. When I picked everything up the next day it was warm, well-prepared and very tasty! Everyone was impressed! The prices here are very reasonable, especially for the amount of food you will get. There is always enough for 2-3 meals. Don't let the location scare you away. It's definitely worth the trip into Lorain to try out this great Chinese restaurant. They must be doing something right...most small businesses in the area are in and out within a year. I'm not 100% sure how long they have been around, but I am 31 and remember going there when I was in my early teens. read more

My family and I love Pine Garden and have literally been coming here since I was born! We come here every Christmas Eve and love the food and the atmosphere. This past Christmas Eve there were 44 of us and they waited on all of us with no problem. We can be a very loud and overwhelming group but they are very professional. The best Chinese restaurant in Lorain for sure. That's why they've been open as long as they have. The service is good and the food comes out fast. I like the Curry chicken and the General Tso's chicken the most. The hot and sour soup is also very good!! A great appetizer to start with. I can't honestly give this place more than three stars. The service could be much better and I don't mean the waitresses are bad it's just that whenever we go here there are not enough waitresses. The last time we ate here (it was a Saturday during dinner time) there was one person serving all the tables. The food is up and down here. I've been eating at Pine Garden since 1999 and It's by far the best Chinese Food in Lorain County. There portions are generous and the food is amazing. The owner's wife is the chef and she is an amazing cook. There are an array of sauces like black bean, kung pau, white sauce, garlic sauce and they are interchangeable in many dishes. The service is always great and the owners always remember you and offer a warm greeting. The vegetables are always prepared fresh and aren't over cooked. The prices are damn near unbeatable and everything is always fresh. I've never ever EVER had a bad experience here in my whole 27 years of living. But today service was terrible the waitress was not friendly at all and very rude I wanted sweet and sour chicken but on their menu it called something else and it comes with sweet and sour sauce and when she brought it out and I ask for sweet and sour sauce she said they don't have sweet and sour sauce .. Food was not what I usually order they put something on it but you couldn't talk to her .. I know she knew what I was saying because she spoke good English but she didn't care , I ask for coffee not everybody likes tea and she said they don't have it but I always got it their before , So I will not go back . growing up in the 80s this was the only chinese food place in practically all Lorain County. nearly 40 years later, this place has survived downturns and being located in arguably the worst neighborhood in town. across the street is a rundown strip mall that has been vacant for years, sitting next door to a auto salvage yard run out of someones house, Pine Garden is a shining beacon in an otherwise dark side of town. Inside isnt much to look at: a 2010 poster from Tsingtao Beer, a metal cash register older than time, and off brand liquor bottles serving nobody, but thats not why youre here. its the consistent recipe of good chinese food that brings you back to when you were a kid, stopping by every sunday after church. its one of the only places left standing after all your schools have been long torn down, when you visit the 1 or 2 friends and family that for some unknown reason dont want to leave. pine garden. dont ever change read more
