About a week ago my husband picked up our dinner to go. The reviews looked pretty good so that's why we went there! I ordered from home so it would be ready. The chicken with garlic sauce was not very good. The chicken was very white and sliced thin and the vegetables were not cooked enough and it was very spicy and I told her only a little spice. Also the shrimp lo mein was not very tasty and shrimp was tiny. Will not go back The service was ok. She needs to get better if they want to stay open. read more

The egg foo young is very good and they are the only place left around here that still offer cold sesame noodles. The noodles taste really good when you toss with general tso's chicken. Their general tso's is not my favorite, they're like balls of chicken, kind of strange. And in the photo, I ordered the wonton app thinking I ordered the crab rancoon. My mistake, I didn't realize there were 2 kinds. These were pork I think. So a little disappointing, but not their fault. Overall, it's your basic Chinese takeout. read more

Affordable and always delicious. The service is great, ordering over the phone is probably the best way to go if you want to pick up..

They almost KILLED my brother! He has a severe nut allergy and we informed them of this. Two bites into his fried rice he was having a severe allergic reaction, AS IN CAN NOT BREATHE! The restaurant has a legal obligation that they ignored! If you have any allergies, for your own safety, DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! read more

We've ordered from here before, and it was decent. Tonight I ordered the Sesame Beef ($12.50), and there was no beef to be found. What I got was breaded filling with a few pieces of what look like pork. I've never heard of sesame beef with breading (just google sesame beef). I called to make sure I got the correct order, and they assured me this is how they make it. It tasted nothing like beef. I ate two pieces and threw the rest away. read more

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a better rating. I tried China star tonight for the first time and I will definitely be coming back! I placed a takeout order over the phone. My food was ready within 15 minutes and the woman who brought out my food was extremely friendly. I can't forget to mention how amazing everything tasted and my order was spot on. read more

Best Chinese food in Lorain County! Quick, consistent and love the chopsticks for sale! Service is consistent and professional. The ambiance is cute as there is almost a little store-like feel. read more

I have discovered that this little take out place has exceptional food. All the food is prepared fresh and may take a little while but the wait is worth it. Hands down the best wonton soup I have ever had. My whole family love it. The downside is limited parking and of course you can't eat the food in the restaurant. read more

Ordered over $130 of food to be delivered, and did not receive everything. Called to politely let them know some items were missing, and got bitched at by rude owner who proceeded to hang up the phone on my wife. First and last time trying this place. Food was barely average, which made it even more disappointing. Poor quality, and clearly poor owners. read more

Ordered around 3pm on a Friday. Overall, I will not be visiting this place again, and can not recommend it. Pros: The lady spoke excellent English and was very polite. It took about 20 min to finish the takeaway order, so fairly quickly. After I called about my messed up ordered, the lady was very quick to tell me I can get another item whenever I liked. Cons: They messed up my order, even though it was marked correctly on the menu. Food: 5/5 Crab Rangoon- very good, crispy, filling was very nice and flavorful 2/5 Teriyaki beef- good portion size, zero flavor, chewey 3/5 Egg drop soup- nice texture, no gooey chunks of egg, but very bland 2/5 Shrimp fried rice- good amount of shrimp, but oh so bland 2/5 general tso's chicken- good portion of very bland chicken. So so bland. ?/5 chicken lo mein- I don't know because I didn't receive this item. read more

First time trying China Star, I am done with China Chef messing up my orders and the mean lady at Mark Pi. The lady on the phone was friendly as understandable. The menu is just like the run of the mill fast Chinese place. The rice was yummy, my daughter loved the chicken broccoli. I like the veggie egg roll. I'm a vegetarian and I liked the Hunan veggies. Received free soda when we picked up our order. read more

This place definitely deserves a better rating! It is the best fast takeout Chinese place in Avon Lake by a long shot! The food is always super quick and extremely delicious! Terrible!! Ordered at 5pm they told me 15 minutes my order wasn't ready for 40 mins, not to mention not a single one of them are wearing a mask in there. I asked for my fried rice to be made spicy and they "forgot" to even do that but charged me $4 to upgrade from pork to beef rice and offered for me to bring it back and make what I had spicy, mind you I had already taken a bite out of the rice hence how i knew it wasn't spicy . Pretty disgusting if you ask me. My beef and broccoli looked like chicken or fat and broccoli. I will NEVER order from them again. They ain't even worth one star. read more

Tried their food last night for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! First, the lady on the phone was very friendly. We ordered crab rancoon, General Taos chicken combo, chicken egg foo yong and cold sesame noodles. Everything was pretty tasty! I don't usually like takeout fried rice, but this had a lot of flavor. The noodles & General Tsos together is one of our favorites! I'm glad they have it! I didn't give 5 stars because I didn't pick up, so I can't rate the surroundings...next time! read more

best chinese food around. i love every single thing on their menu. their food is so amazing and i love every bite of my food.

I have tried this place twice and it's unlikely that I will give it another go. In my opinion, it's kind of hard to mess up Chinese food. The issue that I had with this place is that the vegetables didn't seem to be the freshest. Everything tasted overly frozen. It's a shame because this Chinese place is the closest to home for me. read more

Fried rice is the best ive ever had and all there food is super fresh. I loved the pepper steak and chop suey. Only complaint i wish they had roasted duck. Will keep going back again and again. read more

Wish I never ordered from China Star. Sweet and sour chicken had microscopic pieces of chicken, 90% batter. Chicken chow mein, 49.5% onion and 49.5% celery with tiny chicken pieces I had to dig around to find. Rice was bland tasting. Egg rolls were tasteless. Not very friendly either. Not a good value for the money. Spent almost $30 for 3 combos. Compared to the regular place I use and spend $30, where I get enough food for 2 full dinner meals for 3 people. read more

I've ordered from China Star plenty of times over the years, but today my same order was horrible!!! Overcook boneless ribs tasted salty not sweet.. Also the color was different. Eggrolls over fried, hard as rocks.. The general Tso was horrible also a different color taste and meat was rubbery! Very dissatisfied! Never ordering again! Wasted 40$$$ 05/4/2019 read more

Got the General Tso's here-- Something I get at every Chinese takeout place to gauge the place. Meat quality is very good with a crunchy but not-too-thick breading. Sauce was thick and had a tang to it, a flavor unexpected in General Tso's but not entirely unwelcome. I may try this place again, but I don't think it will be a staple in the family. read more

This place is a cut above your usual Chinese takeout. The chicken seems like real chicken -- not that too-soft variety you've probably had before. Most of the dishes we've had have been decent to pretty good. One plus is that they have Szechuan Cold Noodles, which don't seem to be available at many restaurants in the Cleveland area -- and they're really tasty too. Very friendly husband and wife, who own the place and work all hours. read more

Fantastic, fresh food. The best egg foo yung I've ever had. Very reasonable prices.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Avon lake . Take out only. Had the lo main, egg fu young. General spy's chicken. Very good and the price is very reasonable read more

Great food, good price, nice people. Got general Tsp chicken was great super polite people.

We had our first experience here March 1st and were very pleased with the quality and flavor of the food. The hot and sour soup was both spicy and sour, as it should be. We enjoyed the best pork egg foo yung we've had in a long time. Perhaps it was beginners' luck, but China Star is at the top of our list of Avon Lake Asian restaurants. read more

We have tried them twice. First time not so bad but tonights dinner was horrible. I got beef chow mein and the whole dish was onions. Nothing but onions. The sweet and sour chicken was way over fried and mostly batter. We will not be ordering again read more
