This has been my go to sushi place for the last couple years. It rocked when it first opened! Not sure what the heck has happened but for the last 6 months every time we have been in it just gets worse. I couldn't finish my rolls they where just gross. My 6 y/o Can puts rolls down didn't finish even one. The fish just isn't fresh, the tempura batter taste awful and seems to always be under cooked. The service is bad. When I ate here on my birthday it was horrible!!! There was a lot of people there and I don't know if that's why because I have always heard good things about this place but when we went it was a huge disappointment, everything was old tasting and sushi was horrible!!! The worse for customer service for mediocre food that is overpriced. I usually always spend over$75 for thai food. I've have eaten at many Thai restaurants to compare as well as in Thailand. It's extremely horrible service and deceptive to advertise take out options and not offer it. After the phone was left as consistently busy for over 25 minutes, we finally drove to the restaurant that was about 2 minutes from us. It was 10 minutes before close and we were told they were closed and didn't do take out ALL DAY because they were too busy. Why not leave a message for the customers trying to do take out instead of just putting it on busy. Will never go back!!! read more

Sandpoint is a great restaurant town and this is a wonderful addition! We plan to visit this place and many more times in the future. This food is delicious and the service is top notch. Our server, Natalie, was prompt, friendly, had a great sense of humor and gave excellent service. We started with an appetizer of a Philadelphia sushi roll and warm mango sake. For our entrees we chose Green beef curry and ginger delight. They were both exceptional! We also enjoyed hot jasmine tea with our dinner. To top off this wonderful meal we delighted in the frozen mochi dessert. All in all, a great dining experience. Highly recommended! read more

Had wonderful lunch of Miso soup, exceptional crab puff with delicious sauce, three-THREE sushi rolls of my choice with professional, cheerful and prompt service. All for $11.95! Went back for dinner and ordered the soft shell crab with curry sauce and rice. WOW! That was a world class meal I would expect out of San Francisco or New York. Avoid this place like the plague - for now at least. It was for years the best service and menu around for Asian, now they act like they got scooped-up from McDonald because they were the most "cute". fantastic! Really, surprisingly fantastic. Thai food fanatic is completely impressed in this small town nosh pit. Even the sushi is good. Especially the Alaska roll. The thin lemon slice had me worried but is absolutely ingenious! Waitstaff is come and go. Some visits are great and some are a groan. The food is consistent and the curry is really good. They offer four kinds and my faves are the panang and yellow. Best in town. Not too spicy but spicy enough. There are two other places to eat thai in town but we consistently visit Thai nigiri. They accommodate our food allergies with minimal extra charge and I am so thankful they stay open later than most places in town. Parking is a challenge sometimes. Kids meals are a little overpriced for amount you get. Bring a coat, they like to keep you awake by keeping it cool in there. read more

I had a very strange and disconcerting experience at this restaurant. When I walked in I was rudely approached by a young host. When I asked to order take out food he said that that wasn't possible because the kitchen had stopped cooking take out orders. I left and went back after deciding to eat at the restaurant. The same host said that he couldn't seat me because they were too busy and didn't have room. I noticed that the restaurant was half empty and asked to speak with the manager. She had noticed what was occurring and agreed to seat me at the bar next to someone who was picking up take out food (??). When I expressed my concern and confusion about the host refusing to seat me she said that they were short staffed and that the host was new and inexperienced. I have never been refused service at a restaurant and felt a great deal of sympathy for others who have, regardless of the reason. Although the manager was pleasant she did not apologize for what had occurred. After being served and paying for my meal, my credit card wasn't returned. I noticed this later and called the restaurant to make sure it was there. As others have said in their reviews, the phone was off the hook apparently. The phone continued to ring and no one answered. I drove to the restaurant and was greeted by the same host who rudely asked, "What do you want?" I picked up my credit card and left feeling very upset by the whole experience. read more

I have eaten here a few times, every time I have ordered the Spicy Tuna, Philadelphia, Spicy Tuna and a shrimp roll (cant remember the name) They were okay, the fish was not as fresh as I like mine to be for Sushi but it was good. Everything on the menu is really reasonable I suggest going in for lunch they have a really great lunch special for their sushi. The restaurant is very nice and decorated well. The service was pretty good all-around. I used the restroom, and the floor/baseboards were very dirty and there was an exposed hole where a vent cover should be. The toilet roll dispenser was broken. It really needs cleaned up to be a nice establishment. We ordered: Edamame: a bit undercooked but okay 2 pieces of salmon sushi: great A Philadelphia Roll: also very good Pad Thai: surprisingly tasty noodles, icky chicken Panang curry: unrecognizable from every panang curry I've had, and I've had a LOT! It had frozen peas/carrots mix vegetables in it (?), fresh broccoli, a ton of cabbage and no basil/lemongrass/true panang flavor. The chicken in both the pad Thai and curry was sliced very thin and therefore was super dry. read more

I can't give zero stars, but the two I gave are for the waitstaff only. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. If you don't feel like reading all of this, it can be summed up in the last couple sentences. We live in Spokane, and only went here since it was recommended by a local. I gotta say, after the fact, I was actually surprised it was even on someones radar as a recommendation. I'm not a sushi snob, by any means. But when we do go out for it, I generally start with some simple items, and work through to the "specialty" items. Well, this time I didn't even bother. 95% of the rolls start with "spicy tuna", "spicy yellowtail" or even better "crab" meaning krab. All minced fish or krab, mixed with whatever. Almost no rolls offered simple sliced fish in a roll, which was a red flag, in my book. We ordered the Red Curry, which wasn't bad. It came out a minute or so behind the two rolls we did order, more on those in a second. The Curry had a decent flavor, and a good balance of chicken and veg came in it. It was a little sweet for me, and lacked any spice. On the downside, I'm sure most of it was cooked beforehand, and is warmed per order. The chicken was pretty dry, even though it was swimming in the curry sauce. The veg was still pretty crisp, which was a good contrast in texture. It's nothing that would bring me back though, ever. Now as for the rolls. We got a spicy tuna, and the spicy yellowtail. The only way to tell them apart was the Sriracha drop on the yellowtail pieces. Flavor was meh. The cucumber to fish ratio was 2:1, the rice was under cooked and had no flavor. Here's the real problem. Even as I was already disappointed in the quality of the sushi, in one of the pieces was a piece of plastic. 3/4" long 1/16" wide and pretty sharp. When we told our waitress, she said it's not unheard of, and they come in the rice from time to time. So it's not a one time thing. Maybe the rest of the menu is good, I don't know. But if you're looking for sushi, I'd skip this one. I've had better pre-packaged rolls from the Fred Meyer down the street from our house. read more

What a joke! My husband and I walked in around 5:30 without a reservation. We left our name at the hostess station and were told it would be a 15 min. wait. We left and came back and watched another group get seated at a nice table in the front. We were then seated in the back next to two tables of whiny kids. This place is a real gem in Sandpoint. Not that there is a ton of sushi to choose from, but still...I'm from San Francisco and have eaten in plenty of sushi spots over the years. For a small town in North Idaho, I am impressed. The fish tastes fresh, the selection of rolls is plentiful, and the service is friendly. Two things really bug me about rolls - when there is way to much rice and they are so big you have to eat one roll in two bites so it falls apart all over the place. This place makes the PERFECT size! I have been there at least 5 times and will be back for sure. I've also taken 2 Japanese folks in who have raved about it. You won't be disappointed. Ooh!
