First time coming here and it won't be our last. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. The booth seats are comfortable. The have a large menu, but all the pictures and descriptions are very helpful. We had the Pesto Naan and it's the Naan we have ever eaten. Light and crispy with lots of flavor. The Beef Tikka Masala has a rich and slightly sweet sauce and the meat was very tender. The Mango Curry Chicken had enough balance if sweet and heats and the pieces of chicken were moist. We ordered both with medium heat and it was the right amount. Can't wait to come back again.

Right when we got there. It wasn't empty long...

Every three months, or so, the Wifey and I have a meal that is so much more lightyears above the really good experiences we've had. We eat out, weekly. Oh man, this was great. We know them from their food truck in the Cd'A area, but they've been incredibly smart to open not one, but TWO new brick and mortars in the Panhandle--definitely an area starved for Indian cuisine. I must mention they have beef on the menu, and most Indian restos do not offer it. In chatting with them after lunch, we found out the family bailed from California, for every reason smart people would, and they absolutely love it here in the Inland PNW. We got there right when they opened on Sat AM, and by the time we left they were getting creamed. Lucky, lucky, Sandpoint. Nuff' said...

Really amazing flavors! The restaurant is very quaint and cozy and the service is great. I think this will be my go-to restaurant whenever I come to Sandpoint.

Great Indian food! The sauce was thicker than other Indian food I've had, but it was ok. The chicken seemed like good quality, I liked it.

The butter chicken and garlic naan as fantastic. I ordered mild but it did have a nice spice to it. I will definitely be back.

Great service. Very average Indian food. Sadly would not return. The lady who serviced our table was very kind and attentive.

If you're expecting traditional Persian or Mediterranean food you'll be disappointed…read more Saturday night with a group of 10, we were pretty much the only ones in the restaurant. Our host was the chef and also the server He actually did a good job. Beside not really talking to us, he wasn't too delayed with the service The food was "Eh" The pita was more of a thin bread... kinda had a chemically taste to them The basmati rice was almost flavorless beside that chemical taste again. Large portions ... but large portions of "eh" food didn't seem like a plus at the end of the day Eggplant curry was ok... Chicken kabob was better than ok.. chicken was a little dry Friends at the table ordered the qorma-sabzi... this was actually the highlight of the meal. Was super flavorful .. was glad the portion was on the larger side We sat in the private booth, where you sit with your legs under the table to give you the middle eastern vibe like your sitting on the floor That was actually pretty cool. Private room in the corner. Our group of 10 had a great time together, because everyone was pretty cool... unfortunately the food was not The vibe was cool, was impressed with the 1 guy running the restaurant, but the food was not up to par. Ive read every single review until now and the majority of the are stellar. I will chalk them up to having a simple pallet that is easily satisfied. Unfortunately I've had the opportunity to travel and have authentic ethnic foods so my standards are very high this ranks at the bottom of all the Mediterranean I've ever eaten. Ambiance and atmosphere was 5 stars Service was 3.7 Food was ... well just say we fed all the left overs to the chickens a couple days later as reality sunk in and we realized we wouldn't be warming up that food again ..

I hardly run into Afghan restaurants, so I was really excited to try this place. We came here for lunch. It wasn't very busy. I saw a few families come in, so this place is great for big groups. I ordered the Manto and my husband ordered the eggplant curry. I've had afghan manto before as an appetizer, but never as an entree. The portions were huge, and each dish were large enough for two people to share. I don't know what kind of sauces are included with these dishes, but they're so delicious. I also like the yogurt sauce that it came with. The dishes were already good by itself, but the yogurt sauce made it a lot better. I'd like to try other things next time, but you can't go wrong with the manto and eggplant curry!

We ate at the Athol location (they also have locations in Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint), and after this experience, we'll definitely be back. The service was AMAZING. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and they answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken (even my picky eater loved it!), Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, and Shrimp Coconut Curry -- which was our absolute favorite. Every entrée came with rice, and we also got Garlic Naan, Lachha Paratha, and Bhature (fried bread). The Bhature was so good we ordered a second round. If you're sensitive to spice like me, I'd suggest mild. My husband loves spice and ordered medium, which was a little more than I could handle... but it was so good I powered through anyway For dessert we tried the Mango Rice and Gulab Jamun, and both were delicious. The Mango Rice wasn't what we expected (we were thinking more like Thai mango sticky rice), but it was still really good. There was also a little game room area that my husband and kids loved with a pool table, air hockey, and foosball, which made the whole experience even more fun. Athol doesn't have a lot of later dinner/takeout options, so this is definitely becoming our new go-to spot. I'm honestly sad I didn't take pictures because I wasn't expecting to be this amazed... and again, I NEVER leave reviews

Again, I couldn't care less, but others may. The samosa was delicious. Excellent flavor and texture. The mango lassi I had was also excellent. Unfortunately, the garlic naan was some of the worst I've ever had. Just kinda chewy and not overly garlic-y or buttery. The chicken tikka masala was mediocre. Not bad, not great. Just meh. It lacked some of the subtle but delicious flavor this dish should have. Overall, the experience was disappointing because of the main course.

Service was friendly and ambiance was a place you could take someone out for a date. I ordered a Chicken Biryani and was surprised to see that there was an option for.....chicken tikka.....poutine?!?! This was a curveball and I decided to try the chicken tikka poutine. I will have to say prices are pretty standard for an Indian place. Otherwise, the chicken biryani was not bad but the raita was not to my standard. And the second time they didn't even give me a raita at all. Pretty sloppy. Subsequently, the chicken tikka poutine tasted like fries with chicken tikka curry and chicken. Honestly, it wasn't anything special. Just fries with chicken tikka gravy. Aloo tikki was lacking flavour and was on the blander side They also did something that really bugs me which is when a restaurant asks you how spicy want your food and you tell them you want it to be extremely spicy and they put absolutely no spice in it at all. Seriously, if you're not going to accommodate spice level, then just stop asking, stop wasting my time and giving me something to look forward to. Overall, this place is not one I would recommend for Indian food
