We came here for a late lunch after leaving the hot springs. It's a little hole in the wall type of place and we were pleasantly surprised. It's right off the highway and doesn't look like much from the outside. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the owner. We sat down and took a few minutes to look at the menu. There isn't too many Thai restaurants we've come across in Colorado (probably not going to the right area) so we were really excited to see what they offered. We tried their pad Thai, red and green curry, Tom kha soup, Thai tea and coffee. As many people have mentioned, the spice is served on the side. I appreciated it though since our littles don't do well with heat so it was a nice option to have. Everything tasted great, not too oily at all. Don't let this little unassuming building scare you away. Inside is filled with delight and surprises. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, egg roll and crab rangoons, to go. All were amazing! The pad Thai was not too oily and just the right amount of heat. I asked for extra spicy and he put a few extra peppers on top for me to use as I wished. The crab rangoons tasted fresh as did the egg roll. The gentleman taking my order was so polite and kind. I wanna go back just to see him oh and to try everything else on the menu. The Thai basil chicken wings, spring rolls and maybe orange chicken, will be my next order. I can't wait!!! There is also an amazing looking selection of ice creams. A hole in the wall place, but known for amazing Tom Yum and Tom Kah, among other dishes. You order from the counter and then grab a table. You are presented with hot tea after you sit down. The Tom Yum was good, but I've had better. I had to ask for some spices to spice it up. I also ended up asking for some more broth, as there was not enough. My mom said her Tom Yum was better the last time she was here. When she asked our server about it, she said the chef probably forgot to put the lime keffir in the dishes. It's hard to rate this place. The ambiance is very worn, and random. Almost felt like I was in Thailand at a roadside eatery, The toilet and sink were clean but the door frame on the backside of the women's bathroom was grouse! Staff was 2 women; waitress and cook. Friendly enough but not talkative. We were very hungry as this was our first meal of the day at 430p. We both ordered Pad Thai with chicken and it was tasty. I am probably not a good judge on Thai food, but very noodily with just the right amount of nice chicken pieces. This next part is being mentioned because I read it in another person's review. When it came to pay, the staff was on her cell phone and not giving attn to us, the customers. She either accidentally charged too much, or maybe it was intentional as it seems to have happened to another customer as well. Glad we caught it, and it was corrected, but definitely watch your bill total. We were on our way home to Denver from Pagosa, so it was an easy place to stop at. Food was fine Service was fast. I'm sorry, but I don't know how anyone could give this place 5 stars. I was overcharged, which I didn't figure out until the next day. My receipt was not itemized and I had to add up the items I ordered by looking at the menu online. I got pad Thai with shrimp, Thai iced tea, and crab wantons for an appetizer. The wantons were the best thing. Food came out very fast. I asked for medium spice, but they put the spices on the side. Five banger all day long. Thai Mini is a trip it's a full on authentic Thai joint just at the foot of Monarch Pass. After skiing at Monarch (one of the great small independent mountains in Colorado) we asked the bar tender at monarch, was the anyplace open to eat? She was like yeah check out Thai Mini and after skiing and a few beers, we're glad we did. Even though we had a cabin all the way back in Sargents, it was totally worth it. The Thai wings were off the chain..I asked for a non-menu item Thai Basil Chicken and they cooked it up perfectly. When I think of Thai food, Pad Thai isn't the first thing that comes to mind. That being said, I asked the locals if this joint was legit and received mixed feedback. I've ordered nearly the entire menu and there are some hits and misses. If you're looking for a decent change up from the strip of burger joints or overpriced tacos, try Thai Mini. The Pad See Ew is one of my favorites. Ask for it to be spicy and she'll make sure to make you sweat. The owner is very kind and has even offered to make some dishes off-menu, if you call ahead. Definitely a win! I grew up in Park County and came down this way fairly often, just stopped here passing through, never knew it was here. Very nice people running it and very good food. My husband spent quite a bit of time in Thailand when he was in the Navy and he's definitely impressed with this place. My pad Thai was very good. They will not impress you with their building inside or out, but the food is good. Their building is obviously a converted mini mart ( hence the "mini" in their name), but it is right on Highway 50 with ample parking. Think good basic Thai food, not a fancy Thai "cuisine" restaurant. I went at lunch time with a friend who likes Thai. I have to take these opportunities when they arise since there is nothing on a Thai menu my wife will eat. Much to my surprise, the back of their Thai menu has an American menu (see the multiple pictures), so this would be a safe bet for my wife and I, although her choices would be pretty simple. We ordered egg rolls, Pad Thai and Red Curry with chicken. The egg rolls were crispy, cooked perfectly inside and delicious. The sweet sauce that accompanied tasted fresh with a hint of pineapple sweetness. A little siracha mixed in made for a delicious sweet heat taste for dipping the egg roll. My friend enjoyed his Pad Thai, but said it was not "spicy, but not too hot" as he requested. He gave it a few shots of siracha to bring up the heat. My Red Curry (first time trying) had no spicy heat despite it being marked with an asterisk that it was a "spicy" dish. It did, however, have great flavor that I enjoyed. They also have ice cream including soft serve (vanilla, chocolate or swirl), hand dipped (usual suspects) and three "special" ice creams: green tea, mango and coconut. Having had a wonderful homemade coconut ice cream at The Fish House in Key Largo, FL, I am always up for trying to replicate that experience. I ordered coconut and my friend ordered mango. Ice cream it was not. Think sherbet or sorbet, but like the finest silky and creamy flavored snow. The taste was delicious and I even got to enjoy the combination of a little mango and coconut together that was a taste treat as well. Service was adequate. There was only one waitress/cashier so this may not be a place to stop at peak times if you are in a hurry, but for those of us with the time it was well worthwhile. read more

Someone once told me that the best Thai food in the state was here after we were debating the restaurants in and around Denver saying nothing was quite great. This comment stayed with me through last week when we needed a spot to stop for dinner and this came up on my Yelp search. This place is about as plain Jane as they come but I wasn't here for the atmosphere but for the food. While we waited I read about the owner and he upbringing in Thailand. Also, she and the other ladies were just so nice and accommodating. They even brought a banana for our toddler while we waited so she wouldn't go too hungry. Then the food came out. We had a stir fry, mostly for the toddler because it isn't spicy, and the green curry. The stir fry was excellent but once we tried the green curry it was game over. This was THE BEST green curry I've had since moving to Colorado. In fact, this is THE BEST Thai food in the state that I've had, hands down! The Thai Basil was loaded with the largest variety I have ever seen in one dish! I got a "special" and I felt the noodles and meat and beef were relatively fresh and well- cooked but the sauce just tasted... not right. I've had this dish (Pad See Euw) at loads of Thai places in my life and it just normally tastes different. My friend got a curry and said it was bland, the tofu was rubbery, and the sauce tasted like it had been rehydrated or reheated from a previous day. The crab rangoons were okay... pretty much no "crab" but that's not that unusual so I won't get on them for that. We started off with the crab Rangoons, they were pretty well right on par, no surprises there.. for the meal I ordered pad Thai with the maximum of 5 on the heat scale but it wasn't very spicy.. fortunately they had plenty of sriracha! This is a hidden gem that from the outside doesn't look like much but when you get your food and start eating it's like you're eating long-standing family recipes. We had shrimp pad Thai with great texture and mouthfeel - the noodles were done perfectly - and it wasn't too sweet. Husband and son both said this was the best pad Thai they'd had. Red curry was excellent. Mixed with potatoes and pumpkin, served with rice and a great sauce. I had chicken satay with steamed Thai veggies and peanut sauce. Seriously, one of the best peanut sauces I've had. We also had their steamed spring rolls. I had never had warm spring rolls, but they were excellent too! We walked in with a group of 6 and one of the employees helped move a table for us (okay, there's the positive of the visit). When we sat down, we got some hot tea that smelled/ tasted like popcorn jellybeans. We then ordered a chili dog with fries and it tasted like canned dog food with some cheese on top. I then wanted to explore the menu a little more and order some coffee because, you know, tough to go wrong in cold weather right? I got choked on the grains that were left in the bottom of the cup & it also came with a strange jellyfish substance on the inside of the coffee mug. This is a surprising find at a lovelorn intersection in the middle of nowhere (sorry Salida residents and Monarch skiers: I hear your grievance but I live in Gunnison). It is genuinely non-Americanized, legit thai food that is made with love and is quite good. I had a Shrimp Tom Yum soup that was, though not exactly aesthetically ideal, was everything you'd want in such a soup, including a strong lemongrass foundation. I'm not giving it 4 or 5 stars for several specific reasons. 1) The decor and aesthetic is not good: I get that they don't have much to work with, in what seems to be a reconfigured convenience store, but even dining there at noon on a holiday I felt like I was intruding on a Hollywood set between shoots (note that the staff themselves were very friendly: they just don't have the front-of-house/back-of-house awareness). Even a bit of music or piped in sound of some sort would help. 2) Definitely pricey for what you get, relative to Front Range thai: my out-the-door cost on the soup was over $17, served in a flimsy paper bowl like at a picnic, and I wasn't quite full. I am sure there are economies of scale challenges for a place like this, so I can't say what can be done on this front. Despite a middling 3 stars, it is absolutely worth a stopover in an unlikely place for legit thai. read more
