For the food but even ordering out it's like pulling teeth to make an order and god forbid you don't know the number on their own menu the attitude you'll receive. Great little Thai place located on the south side of Bethlehem. My husband and I went on a Saturday night for dinner around 6:30. I had made reservations, but there were still a number of open tables (the owner came out later and noted that business has been slow recently). BYOB - which is nice. Small place, seats about 35ish. Menu has a nice variety of offerings. I had the pork pad thai and my husband had a dish with coconut milk and cucumber (I can't remember the name!), which smelled delish, but I did not try. He said it was good. The pad thai was very good, decent portion size. We also ordered spring rolls, which were very tasty, but a little bit greasy. Later in the evening, the owner came out and introduced herself and her 4 year-old granddaughter. They were very sweet. A nice welcoming touch. We would eat here again! Ugh ..... my husband and I both got food poisoning after take-out from Thai Kitchen. Since we live in the Historic District of Bethlehem, we usually go to Thai Thai II; but one night we had a craving for Thai food and our usual joint was closed, so we decided to give Thai Kitchen a try. While I can't say with 100% certainty that it was our takeout, we were both pretty queasy and had some intestinal issues (won't go into any more detail than that), and it was the only food we had in common over the previous 24hours. We had the same dishes we always get from Thai restaurants, so it wasn't from having something new... it just didn't agree with us. While I'm sure it was just bad luck, and it looks like many other people have had good experiences, we definitely won't be trying it again. read more

We can comment on the phone call, delivery time, and food quality. We ordered delivery from a local hotel. First, placing the telephone order would have been a chore for most people. There was a clear difficulty for the lady taking the order to understand what I was saying/asking and somewhat of a difficulty for me to understand her. I have somewhat of a knack for understanding broken English or different dialects, but most customers may have had to simply hang up and order elsewhere. After we got the order straight, she said delivery would be about a 40 minute wait...(normal wait I think). Total cost for a dinner and appetizer was a little over $30...Kinda high I think, but the food was pretty good. Food came around 40 minutes later like the lady said. "Medium" heat here was very hot. I like hot food, but Thai food is hotter than most hot foods. Mild, medium, hot, and Thai hot were available. I ordered the medium and told the lady to put some hot sauce on the side....Glad I ordered it on the side, because medium was HOT! Thai hot would have been unbearable. Food portions were somewhat small for the cost, but not tiny. I would order from here again without question, but maybe get the mild sauce! read more

i've since had a bad experience here, one that will turn me off for a while. As it's basically someones house, the night i went for dinner i had to sit through about 8 of the family/servers/cooks there gabbing and carrying on. It coincided with the pad thai having that wet dog smell...you know what i mean? there's like an unpleasant odor that sometime accompanies chinese food. I liken to my mother's dog when it's gotten wet, i gives off an odor that you may quite be content not having around your nose and mouth. I mean i love a good pad thai but this is twice (see my Kuki review) that i've been repulsed by the smell. Through research i believe it's the meat that's gone bad, makes sense as i was the only one in the place and maybe they didnt serve a ton of it that day/week? results may vary but i'm downgrading this to a 2-star, as i probably wont be back but know it has potential. read more

My waitress was friendly and attentive, although I was the only customer, so I can not comment on the experience when its busy. Solid, authentic Thai food right near the heart of Bethlehem. I've been here a few times and every experience has been great. The tom yum soup is perfect- delicate, fresh, the perfect lemongrass flavor and good, yet modifiable spice. The Duck Salad(sorry I forget exactly what it's called) was also outstanding. Very very spicy, but is balanced with the fruit which was added. The duck itself was good, but could have been cooked a bit less. But in my opinion, the real star of Thai Kitchen are the noodle dishes. I've had Thai cuisine all over California, and the noodle dishes at Thai Kitchen stand head to head, if not above the best of them. The pad thai and drunken noodles are remarkable. I can only assume that their noodles are hand pulled in house, and if they're not, they surely taste as if they are. I'm in PA every few months and always make it a point to come back here. The Thai Kitchen is my favorite Thai Restaurant in the Valley. It is not the best Thai I have ever had but it is the best in valley. The menu is what you expect and the decor is so so. The dishes are well flavored and usually mild to medium in spice. The portions are quite ample. The seating area is very small and sometimes you may have to wait to seat. The staff is friendly but the food is sometimes the food is a little slow coming out. The drinks are good and it is BYOB. Yes, it's BYOB. My husband and I eat here quite often. I think that the food is really, really good.....much better than the other Thai restaurants in Bethlehem. Hubby likes drunken noodles or the green curry. I like the Mu Sa Man curry and when I feel especially hungry I like to order the Pra Ram. The curry puffs are a favorite appetizer as is the Thai salad. You can't go wrong here. Oh.... and the Pad Thai is always very good!! I don't understand the negative one, two star reviews. I went to Thai Kitchen today for lunch. Disclaimer: It isn't in the best section of town, but it's really not that bad. The restaurant itself is tiny, but looks like a small green jewel on the outside in the midst of a rundown area. It's small, but quite functional inside. I got there at 11 am and was the only one there, but I imagine it can be crowded on a weekend night. The restaurant seats about 30 people, from 2-4 seats per table, though some tables can be put together. I passed on the very nice looking $10 seven-item lunch buffet, because I wanted to try several of the menu dishes. The papaya salad was in the top third of the approximately 20 Thai restaurants I've been to over the years. The (optional) crushed peanuts were a welcomed addition. Also, I'm not a huge fan of presentation as many foodies are, but I did notice the carefully prepared presentation of the papaya salad. The sweet and sour fish soup was filled with nice chunks of fish, well balanced, very tasty, and seasoned appropriately. I asked for it to be served Thai hot, which they did. The Thai beef salad was my favorite dish. It was really terrific. A very nice London Broil placed on a traditional green salad with lime juice, chilies, etc. Incidently, the server was very friendly, attentive and helpful in making suggestions since it was my first time. A small place, but the food, prices, and service are good. When it is crowded the food can take a while to appear, but the kitchen appears to be about the size of a small walk-in closet, so that's understandable. We once had to send our satay chicken strips back to get heated some more as it was still frozen in the middle, but they came back out nice and hot and were delicious. First the food is really good. I love it. The reason I give 2 star is late delivery and customer service. I ORDERED 7:30 PM today and WAITED FOR 40 MIN. Then I called them and ask when will my order be delivered. They didn't check my order, but complained that he were so busy that he didn't even have breakfast yet. Okay I can understand, maybe it's busy Saturday night. However, I STILL DIDN'T GET MY FOOD AT 9:50 PM. I was starving and had no choice but call them again. This time they checked my order and told me by some mistake they didn't confirm my order in their system, which means they didn't begin preparing for my order at all!!!!! The only two choices they gave me were to cancel the order or wait for 15min more and they'll cook for me. I chose to wait and FINALLY GOT MY FOOD AT 10:20 PM, which was ALMOST 3 HOURS AFTER MY ORDER!!!!!!! (and still 15min later than expectation. Note that my house is just 3 min walk away from the restaurant. I had guests and we did some dishes at home so I ordered delivery) This is unacceptable! I paid 15% tip because I ordered online and I had to pay tip before submitting the order. But what I got was 3 hours waiting and starving, and even listening complaint from the one who answered my call! So my advice is, if you want to try the food there, step in and order food in store.
