Do not order Crab wontons. You will be disappointed.
Shelly J.

I've been on vacay...and working..etc.. no time to stop to do groceries or have it delivered... So I decided on trying again Thai Express over my usual Thai place.. if yall know me...yall know I love Thai! Soooooooo... This place is NOT what it used to be. I strongly discouraged from ordering from here and don't use UBER eats etc. So apparently they have a BOGO special with crab wonton. My greedy self was happy!! They are suppose to contain crab right?? What i got was fried crispy dough with a smear of cream cheese and some unknown herb / seasoning. Both orders where like this 7.99. The saying goes if its too good to be true it probably is... yep... My Pad Ew was bland it lacked flavor . Not what it used to be. I ordered Thai ice tea but they didn't double check before delivering. Oh I did call but no one could understand? Customer service -1 star. I'm stick with THAI TItanium. Avoid avoid!

Still coming here 12+ years and it's still my go to Thai place. Good price and good food!

Been coming to Thai Express for years now and its a solid 4-star take out / sit down for lunch Thai place especially for their specials. The menu is basic, but solid with your typical Thai options like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodles, etc. However they do serve "Chefs Specialties" depending on the season. For example on my recent visit I got the Pumpkin Curry special, which was very good. Along with a Thai Tea, which is almost a requirement! Service has always been friendly and quick whenever we eat in too, and the place is clean. Location is good, its a little hidden in the Kentlands (behind the Panera) but plenty of parking around. Overall as I said, a solid 4 star experience. Nothing that will knock your socks off or unique, but just a good lunch time Thai place.

TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE: This was a very good Thai takeout experience. I ordered online for pickup. The ordering process was simple and easy. Within 15 minutes of ordering, the food was ready upon arrival. The food was delicious. Ordered Thai Fried Rice and Basil Fried Rice. Both were some of the best I've had in the DMV. They were flavorful, hot, and the Basil Fried Rice had the right amount of heat. I ordered with mild spice level and probably could have increased it to a spicier level considering mild virtually had no heat. For the quantity and quality, the price was right. The restaurant itself is quite small, however, there is seating in the dining room. Overall a good experience. I will try them again good. Give them a try.

Don't judge a book by its cover! This tiny step-above a take out joint has amazingly tasty food! The Pad See Ew and Lad Na (both beef) were amazing!! As great as I've ever had both!!! The balance of flavors was signature, perfectly cooked noodles, veggies and the beef!! Truly worthy of 5-stars!! As a Fresh Garden Roll and Satay purist, I miss a good thick peanut sauce. But the rolls were otherwise big and tasty! The Thai Spring rolls were great too!! Come hungry and enjoy!!

Red Curry and Noodle Tom Ka Soup

My family has visited this place no less than five times in recent months - all takeouts. We've tried their Green, Red, and Penang Curries; as well as their noodle dishes and Tom Ka and Tom Yum Soup. Our overall experience has been pretty great. We rated their spicy Red Curry, Tom Yum Soup, and drunken noodles as 5/5. These dishes are simply amazing and their price points are spot on. My advice with the Red Curry is to mix half to two-thirds of the rice with all of the curry. This will make the dish really creamy and delicious! As for the drunken noodles, be sure to eat it as soon as possible, because the noodles get really soggy after 45 minutes in the container. The flavor and the texture is the best when eaten within 15 minutes. The noodle dishes' rating go down by 0.5 after every 15 minutes. So after an hour, the dish is like a 3/5. We rate the other curries, Tom Ka Soup, and other noodles around 4.5. These dishes are also delicious but we simply prefer the ones above. The Tom Ka Soup without the noodle is a bit too rich/creamy for me. The other curries (excluding Red) still brought the spices and heat. However, I believe the Red outperforms the Penang and Green simply because Red's taste is richer and more flavorful. The overall cost for an easy meal here is only around $11 and even if you throw an appetizer in there, it's less than $17-20 for an app+entree after tax and tips. Thai Express is a great place for a quick/easy/delicious takeout!

Drunken Noodles with chicken

I was pleasantly surprised this place had outdoor seating. They have three tables with 7 chairs total outside and it was easy to combine it for my party of 5. The service was awesome even though we sat outside. They first brought us water without us even asking and refilled it frequently throughout the visit. We were checked on a couple times and they asked permission to clear our plates and table. I requested the both the salads and pad thai to be extra spicy while the other dish to be mild. I found the pad thai and both the salads to be flavorful. While the spice level in these 3 dishes were mild to average to me, it would be considered very spicy for the average person. It seemed that specifically requesting the drunken noodles and basil fried rice mild meant the flavor was also less intense but overall the dishes were still good. The prices are also pretty good. It only cost $54 for the 6 dishes we ordered (Lemon grass soup with chicken, green papaya salad, spicy chicken salad, pad thai, drunken noodles with chicken, and basil fried rice with beef). I love this place and cannot wait to go back and try their other selections.

I ordered lunch here through Grubhub. The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious and the flavors were good. The food had a nice spice to it, would definitely order again.

Thai express is one of, if not the best Thai spots in the 301. Sooo consistent, their curry dishes have always been my favorite. Would definitely recommend. Good price/portion too

It's so comforting and filling that I always feel like I need a nap afterward! The rich, spicy broth has the perfect kick that lingers in the back of your throat, and the lemongrass flavor is incredibly satisfying. It has just the right amount of noodles and tender beef, and it's even topped with crispy fried pork skins that add the perfect crunch. If you enjoy spicy food, this is definitely a dish you need to try. The food comes out fairly quickly, so don't be surprised if your appetizer and entrée arrive around the same time. I don't mind because everything is so delicious, but it's something to keep in mind if you like to pace your meal.

First things first: **know your order when the waitress comes back because BABY, they are on a mission.** No time for a family meeting or a menu deep dive! I ordered the minced chicken chop-chop basil, and my friend got the shrimp pad Thai and crispy chive cakes (the texture wasn't my ministry, but we move). Both entrees were delicious, portions were generous, and the flavor was on point. I ordered a level 3 out of 5 for spice and was expecting my taste buds to file a complaint. Sadly, no such drama. The real plot twist? They flipped the tables on BOTH sides of us TWICE before we paid the check. I barely had time to digest, let alone get attached to the experience. Come for the food, stay for the efficiency, but please have your order ready. These folks are running a restaurant, not a retreat!

I noticed that some of the tables have been changed from square to rectangular, making the dining room feel more open and spacious. Each table is now decorated with a small lamp, and artwork adorns the walls--simple updates that add warmth and enliven the ambiance. Another noticeable change is the packaging for the entrée I ordered. It has been updated from a square container to a rice bowl, which I much prefer. The previous packaging reminded me of a school cafeteria, while the new presentation feels more appealing. During my last visit, they also offered lunch specials, which no longer appear to be available. That was a bit disappointing, although it may have been a promotion when they first opened. Their menu is somewhat atypical for a local Thai restaurant, with offerings such as tacos, burgers, and sandwiches. I was in the mood for my usual favorites--Pad Thai and Pad See Ew--but neither is on the menu. I ordered a Thai iced tea and the Kao Mun Gai Tod. The iced tea was good, but I would have preferred a bolder tea flavor. It seemed a bit diluted, possibly from too much ice. The chicken, however, was crispy and flavorful, and the rice was cooked perfectly--tender rather than dry or chewy. Our server was attentive throughout the meal. She checked on us regularly and promptly cleared our table, providing excellent service.

One of the best spots in MoCo for Thai cuisine!…read more My family and I love going to Bangkok Garden for friendly, efficient service and delicious Thai food. This time around, we ordered pad thai, one dish with shrimp and one with beef, crabmeat fried rice, and the khao soy noodles. The khao soy was the perfect amount of spicy and the chicken pieces + fresh onions + crispy noodles added a nice texture to the richness of the broth. This order came literally 5 minutes after we placed it, with the rest of the food coming shortly after! Portions are reasonable - all of us managed to finish our plates and felt pretty content if not full. I would say this place has a fun, upbeat atmosphere with the colorful, graffiti walls. Very limited seating though, so understandably there may be a wait time on a busy Friday or Saturday night.

Flavors of both were good, the drunken noodles had a roasty flavor from I suspect using a big flame under a wok which was great. Kao soi flavor was strong, but the chicken was flavorless and a bit dry. I asked if I could get half veggies half tofu for the drunken noodles and was told it'd be an extra $2 which I thought was a bit ridiculous, at least they told me beforehand. I asked for spicy and it wasn't really that spicy. Good flavors all around though and decent portions. Pricing I guess was fine, ~$35 post-tax pre-tip. I didn't like that they have a lot of plastic and one-time use items - they gave us water in plastic cups, wooden one-time use chopsticks wrapped in plastic, paper plates if we wanted to share food I guess (I gave this back to them when they brought it over). Boo.
