I can't get enough of their panang. Well, actually, I guess I can since their servings are so large. I see other customers eating different dishes and I intend on trying something new each time I go there, but I'm a fiend for the panang, and that is what I order. I walked in and was greeted by the friendly staff. Open area dining with an assortment of menu items. They have a separate glass front cooler where they store specialty drinks like Thai Tea in the back. It seemed to be a little bit warm and although it was clean, the dining area seemed to be worn. My partner and I both ordered Pad Thai, I ordered it spicy, they had it plain. This is the fun part, they have a HUGE tray of different additives/spices that you can experiment with. Most bottles not in English or labeled, so season to taste . Our entrees looks identical and were both very good. I believe mine was on the edge of to hot, but the waiter made sure to repeat HOT, when I asked for it. The pay process was speedy and the "outlet mall " atmosphere made it easy to park. The leftovers heated up well, because they do give a good serving, I don't recommend using a microwave though, they actually educated me on how to reheat in a pan. read more

Very very salty...sounds like Donald Trump huh!? Ordered stick rice with mango for dessert, this loud tiny waitress skipping with glee to say that they don't have mango and if it's ok to use pineapple instead. WTH!! Mango is in season. Barely eaten pad Thai clearly gives the clue that it was not good and yet asked if I want a to go box. Hard tofu cubes were used. I counted 11 bean sprouts that were cooked with noodles. Sprouts and green onions should be fresh toppings. Warned my husband to quit ordering drinks cuz they keep pouring from cans. I'm afraid they'll charge per can. This is by far the best Thai food in Chattanooga, hands down. I am a huge fan of Thai food and I've lived here all my life, so consequently I've been to every one of them in this area. In my opinion, this one reigns supreme every time. Not only is the food better tasting, but the prices are some of the most reasonable (unlike Rain or Sweet Basil, which are a little bit fancier as far as decor and that reflects heavily in the price.) The portions they give you are absolutely enormous; easily two or three meals in one. If you like Thai food and you're anywhere near the Chattanooga area, make the trip out to this place. Ordered take-out - yellow curry, thai fried rice, pad thai, and the green papaya salad. With the exception of the green papaya salad, the food was excellent - generous helpings, too! The papaya salad had an odd fishy flavor. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be, but it was a slight disappointment. Other than that, our experience was very good. I've eaten in and ordered take-outs from Thai Esan and even recommended it to family and friends since we discovered this hole-in-the-wall place in 2015. We usually dined at Rain in Lee Hwy. and thought Thai Esan's food was way better than Rain's. Tonight, I ordered Pork Thai Fried Rice with the heat level on the side, Pad Sew Ew with tofu and Thai Dumplings. I was totally disappointed with the flavors. It tasted like I ordered from a Chinese take-out. The noodles in the Pad Sew Ew were overcooked, gummy (the noodles stuck together) and utterly tasteless. The fried rice had no flavor and came with cucumbers and lime wedge and no heat level on the side. What Thai place adds a lime with fried rice! Thai Dumplings were good; these were probably not made in house. It seems that either the Management has changed hands or the original cooks have been replaced because the food isn't up to original standards! What a shame. Here I thought I finally found a gem in East Ridge but am sorry to say I'm scratching this place off my list of restaurants to frequent. read more

Amazing authentic food. Service is excellent and very friendly. It seems to be more crowded on the weekends so the food will take a little longer than usual. Restaurant is a walk in restaurant so of course it might take the server longer to serve you when busy but it is definitely worth the wait. They also serve Laotian food which is amazing. Thai Esan was recommended to me by a friend. The restaurant is a small strip mall, and has nothing much in the way of décor, but they made up for the spartan dining area with some really delicious food. The waiter brought out two complimentary spring rolls, which were crunchy and tasty. We had spring rolls for an appetizer, in rice wrappers, with yummy peanut sauce on the side. Very interesting and flavorful. The entrees were Pad Thai with Tofu, which was excellent, and Cashew Chicken Stir Fry, which was cooked with onions, red and yellow bell peppers, mushrooms, and of course cashews, in a spicy sauce, and was also excellent. Steamed rice was provided on the side, which was the perfect texture. A word of warning about the spiciness scale: we ordered "two peppers" on a scale of 1 to 5, and that was plenty hot for me and my companion. Try three or more peppers at your peril! For desert we shared an order of mango sticky rice. It took about 10 minutes to bring it out, but it was worth the wait. This dish has a dense mound of sticky rice in the middle with sliced mango on the sides, all covered with a delicious coconut sauce. It was more then enough for two people. I am looking forward to going back to try some different dishes. Recommended! read more
