Ambience: Restaurant is the size of a master bedroom but the decor is plain and simple, which is something I don't mind. The menu, chairs, and tables were clean. The only thing that was off was their music. You never know what to expect. One day you enter, you hear pop music and then another day you hear country. Music plays a big role in the overall experience and ambience of the restaurant. When I entered the restaurant, I expected to have a full on experience of the thai cuisine, art/music, and culture. It did almost that. Price: The price was average. Expect to spend approximately $20-$30 for a full on meal, including appetizers and and dessert. But if you're just ordering an entree, expect to spend about $10 - $20. Food Quality: Mediocre and NOT CONSISTENT. If you're from a big city filled with many great restaurants, this is a restaurant you'll claim Mediocre at Best. But if you're from Merced or from smaller cities with not so many varieties, it is considered Good. I ordered the Pho. The broth was nice, not sure if they put msg or beef flavoring packets. The quality of the meat was not great. They were tough and rubbery. Some portions were burnt or had the appearance of being frost bitten. Quantity and quality are not consistent. Basil and beansprout were rotten. Very little care was given to the basil and beansprout. Not given enough attention to details. Every little details regarding to quality and quantity matters. Service: I tested their service by going in as a customer who doesn't want to be bothered. To give the hint, I put on my headphones and occupied myself with watching shows on my iphone. The servers did not get the point and continually bothered me over and over again, asking if everything was okay and if I needed anything. Service was okay. The servers need to understand their customers and know how to give their customers the distance without coming off as annoying. This is not the place for an angry person or a person having a bad day to go to, sadly. Servers need to pay more attention to their customer and pick up details of what their customer wants. Service needs improving. Overall thoughts: It was okay. Not amazing. Just another typical, average restaurant. I would come here again because they have potential to be better. Small little place located in a shopping center, 2 servers (saturday afternoon) with a little bit of attitude. As time passed they became friendlier. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Just called to order over the phone, asked for three recommended items. I have never been here before and figured whatever is popular must be good. The lady told me she couldn't "explain every dish in detail" because she was too busy to take my phone order. Yum! We've been disappointed by our normal Thai place in town, so we tried this place out recently. I HIGHLY recommend the crispy tofu appetizer. Service is inconsistent-- depends on which waiter is working. However, we've been there twice so far and the food is consistently delish. I like the green curry. I am from Seattle, Washington and I love pad thai noodles, on my way to Disneyland, I always stay in Merced, usually getting little Caesars...I decided to try their pad thai noodles, and it is the best I've ever had. Now that I am on my way home, I got pad thai noodles and thai coffee. The thai coffee is seriously out of this world. I am so sad, cause there's nothing like this back at home (that I can find) and I hope I can come back very soon in the future. Definitely give this place a try. I ordered a thai iced tea and a special called Golden Bowl, which is a stir fry vegetable and meat selection served on "fried egg noodles" with brown gravy (light brown corn starch thickened broth). The noodles look not unlike an unpackaged ramen noodle but are much more delicate and quite good (fried noodles!) and the meats were all tender (I had them all in the combo). A simple dish, not spicy at all and not meant to be. My only complaint is that the thai ice tea had at least twice the sugar it needed; I drank it, but slowly as it mixed with melting ice. i have finally found a place with that little piece of home that i've been searching for! my friend suggested this place because he loves thai food. apparently, he comes here a lot, so he told me that if you are someone who really really loves spicy foods, ask for whatever you order to be "john price spicy." that'll definitely put a sweat on your brow. whew! the pad thai is pretty standard and quantities are in abundance. though, may i suggest buying the HOT WINGS. it's finger-lickin' gooood. i also loved the spring rolls! it's like something you would get at a vietnamese restaurant, but their sauce is slightly different. i haven't quite figured it out yet though. so all i know is that it's mighty tasty! i'm definitely coming here again. :D read more

Thanks to the help of yelp and all your reviews I was able to find this little restaurant no more than 10 small tables, the food was surprisingly good we had the papaya salad, pork padtai, green chicken curry and a sea food noodle soup like pho stile, the papaya salad was excellent the portion was more than food for the price, we payed 34 dollars for all of this. Also the green curry sauce was amazingly good, the padtai noddles were cooked perfect a little to sweet for me but besides that perfect. The broth in the seafood soup was great spiced perfect. Their hot wings are delicious. DEFINITELY not like the typical wings you'd find elsewhere (i.e. buffalo, honey bbq, lemon pepper flavor, etc). Instead, they're covered in this delicious sweet, spicy Thai sauce. The wings are super crispy which is JUST how I like em. And the sauce is plentiful. Matter of fact, I ordered a side of steamed rice so I could enjoy the wing sauce to the fullest . There's more than enough sauce in the wing platter to pour over rice. It's like two meals in one lol. I found this place with a friend while I was nursing a cold. The Fish ball combination rice stick noodle soup is just what my runny nose and congested chest needed. In terms of taste (I had a cold), but my friends all say that the food is great for good prices. From what I could taste, the Thai iced tea was also very refreshing and not pricey. The are a lot rice plates, noddle dishes, soups and vegetarian options to choose from. The staff was very friendly and prompt with our service. The atmosphere was awesome as the interior decorations where very well done (in a Thai theme). It might not be as upscale looking inside as Thai II but there food definitely taste better!!! I recommend duck on cabbage, chicken fried rice, green curry, pho, egg rolls. This is one of the best asian foods in merced!!! and trust I live in the bay area in which there are many good asian restaurants but by far this Thai place can be ranked among the bay area restaurants! Love their panang curry with tofu lunch special. Parking sucks but it's not their fault. My biggest complaint is during lunch take out. Sometimes the curry will be in a foam cup but most of the time they "cup" aluminum foil and place it in a longer foam container with the rice. The curry will leak into the plastic bag. read more

This is a great place for Thai food. The best I've ever had, in fact. The location is not the best, however the service and food are well worth the trip to the east end of 16th St. The staff is awesome. I have had the asparagus, red, yellow, and green curry. All are fantastic. The best dish I have had is the duck egg noodle soup. That soup is seriously awesome. I strongly recommend this restaurant highly. I hope that anyone wishing to test out Thai food for the first time, will go here. The dining space is not large, but if you have a party of four to six, you shouldn't have too much of an issue getting seated. Another one of our favorite places to eat. We love, love, love the pad khee mao and the red curry with tofu. This place has the best tofu I have EVER had in my life, and I used to be a vegetarian. My girlfriend is obsessed with the sticky rice.. I have never been to Thai Cuisine II, but someone told me that the original is still the best. The service is ALWAYS awesome and helpful..
