We needed some lunch after hitting up a few wineries during the day. Thai food sounded like the perfect way to soak up some alcohol so we went to the nearest one, Thai Crom in Cromwell.
We dropped in on a Tuesday afternoon (around 2:00pm) and the place was bumping. Everyone was coming in to take advantage of the $12.00 NZD lunch specials (there's 9 options).
The dinner menu is pricier but has a bigger selection to choose from; entrees, Thai salads, soups, fried rice, noodles, curries, favourites, kiwi favourites (fish & chips), kids menu and sweet treats.
- Chicken stir fried noodles (A) ($12.00 NZD) - egg noodles stir fried with chicken and vegetables. Noodles had a good sauce but came out lukewarm. Vegetables consisted of cabbage, carrots and onions.
- Thai chicken yellow curry (D) ($12.00 NZD) - we asked for it medium spicy; get it hot if you want a kick. Medium barely hit mild. The curry itself was pretty tasty but they could have given a bigger scoop of rice.
Decent Thai for a small town. 3.5 stars. read more
