    Thai Red Curry with chicken
    Isabella F.

Was craving some Thai food and came across this restaurant on Skip. I ordered the Thai Red Curry with chicken and coconut rice. The depths of flavour in this curry was unmatched. I loved that you could also choose your spice level! Definitely one of the most authentic dishes I have had from any Thai restaurant I have eaten at in Edmonton. 5/5! I will be ordering again and definitely be trying more things on the menu!

Checked out a new place, Thai Corner Restaurant and Bakery. It's a family owned Thai restaurant that also offers sweets and cakes. We dropped in on a Friday evening (with 7:30pm reservations). Service was friendly and attentive. Jugs of water were brought to the table. The menu consists of appetizers, soups, salads, favorite combos, stir-fry, curry, chef's special signature dishes and noodles. There's also a lunch special combo set ($14.75) from 11:00am to 2:30pm. They had two fish specials - deep fried red snapper for $45.00 (1.50 pounds) and tilapia for $32.00. - Steamed white rice ($1.75) - Coconut rice ($2.75) - Mama kee mao ($17.25) - fantastic. A completely different spin from the standard drunken noodle. Enjoyable heat level. Noodle portion was very generous. - Spicy basil eggplant tofu ($18.95) - tofu was semi firm but had a great bite. Eggplant was solid. The house mixed sauce really elevated the dish. Another great portion. - Thai green curry ($18.99) - opted to try the roti, which came with 8 pieces! Green curry was decent but wanted it to more bold and punchy in curry flavour. - Thai herb BBQ chicken (half), tum thai pu may papaya salad and sticky rice ($24.95) - the papaya salad was a full appetizer size. Pickled blue crab was interesting but a touch mushy. The chicken was moist but the game changer was topping it with their country style tamarind & chili sauce. Well balanced, sweet and spicy. - Coconut pandan cake ($7.25) - their most popular dessert. Not too sweet with small chunks of real coconut. Texture was light and similar to chiffon. Definitely check out Thai Corner. Another gem in the south side.

Good food, friendly staff. Limited seating so recommend going during off hours to avoid any waiting OR call ahead to reserve.

It's also generally quiet enough to have a nice conversation, if you're a talker like me. The service was quick and friendly, and they were very good at reccomending dishes! We found this particularly helpful for choosing what meat/protein to put in our meals, and we all agreed that they knew what was best. As for the food, it was the most absolutely wonderful and authentic Thai I have ever had. Every dish was flavourful, fairly priced, and came in a huge portion! We have never gotten a single bad thing there (and we experiment often), and we have never left without takeout containers full to the brim. The leftovers are always amazing, too. I could go on and on about how much I love this restaurant, truly. What a lovely place to dine in St Albert that I wish I had discovered so much sooner! If you're interested in what to try, my favourites are the Pad Thai with chicken, or the Pad See Eiw with chicken or tofu. I'm not a beef lover, but they make it quite well there I will say. The curries are quite good but some of them get fairly spicy, at least for me. The peanut curry is definitely my favourite! As for appetizers, they have these excellent deep-fried crab and cream cheese dumplings that I can never get enough of! Be aware though, there are lots of peanuts used in recipes, so be careful if you have an allergy.

Tried this place twice about a month apart, the food is great but there's inconsistent portions and service can a bit slow as it's a mom & pop restaurant. Seating arrangements are ok but can definitely could use a deep clean/upgrade - old time hole in the wall look, feel & vibe. During our latest visit, the restaurant opened up a few minutes late as owners were running a bit late. Service was slower as there was only one person attending 6+ tables that came in about the same time. The food tasted great but again was inconsistent with portions & plating. We both ordered the same Pad Thai Tom yum at the same time & one plate completely was missing mushrooms & lacked bean sprouts while the other had an abundance. The rice curry dishes are good but could use a much bigger portion of rice.

Bangkok is a hidden AYCE hotpot off Kingsway. (Truly, if we didn't know to look for it, I'd never…read moreknow it was there. It's tucked away on a side road surrounded by residential streets!) But there it was, this bright green little gem. It's not as modern as other places, but the food was fresh and topped up on the buffet + even though not as big as others, there were still a few items I hadn't seen anywhere else. Their broth was good too - we tried the satay & tom yum and both were flavourful. They've been open under the same management for 11+ years! Covid has been tough - they closed completely when dine in was shut down and are just starting to rebuild business (I don't think they do take out but I'm not 100%). It was completely dead when we were there, minus one other table - and they still kept filling the food with fresh items. They kind of fall under the radar, maybe because they're not as flashy as other places? But they are yummy with super nice people - if you're considering hotpot, it's worth checking out! A few things to note: it's one of the cheaper AYCE hotpots in the city (I think it was $26 + $2 for broth - other places are $35-40). AYCE only. No late night or lunch special, the price is the price all day. Cash or debit only.

In the sauce department the xo and peanut butter sauce is amazing and the chopped chillies in a vinegar like sauce is soo delicious and brings such great flavour to anything that accompanies it. I absolutely love it here, it really has a nice welcoming environment and the manager is very nice as well. I always look forward to my next visit.
