I've been there a few times with family, and I can say for sure my expectations were far exceeded. The restauant is well decorated, clean, and spacious, with plenty of room to bring large parties. It's also generally quiet enough to have a nice conversation, if you're a talker like me. The service was quick and friendly, and they were very good at reccomending dishes! We found this particularly helpful for choosing what meat/protein to put in our meals, and we all agreed that they knew what was best. As for the food, it was the most absolutely wonderful and authentic Thai I have ever had. Every dish was flavourful, fairly priced, and came in a huge portion! We have never gotten a single bad thing there (and we experiment often), and we have never left without takeout containers full to the brim. The leftovers are always amazing, too. I could go on and on about how much I love this restaurant, truly. What a lovely place to dine in St Albert that I wish I had discovered so much sooner! If you're interested in what to try, my favourites are the Pad Thai with chicken, or the Pad See Eiw with chicken or tofu. I'm not a beef lover, but they make it quite well there I will say. The curries are quite good but some of them get fairly spicy, at least for me. The peanut curry is definitely my favourite! As for appetizers, they have these excellent deep-fried crab and cream cheese dumplings that I can never get enough of! Be aware though, there are lots of peanuts used in recipes, so be careful if you have an allergy. read more

Tried this place twice about a month apart, the food is great but there's inconsistent portions and service can a bit slow as it's a mom & pop restaurant. Seating arrangements are ok but can definitely could use a deep clean/upgrade - old time hole in the wall look, feel & vibe. During our latest visit, the restaurant opened up a few minutes late as owners were running a bit late. Service was slower as there was only one person attending 6+ tables that came in about the same time. The food tasted great but again was inconsistent with portions & plating. We both ordered the same Pad Thai Tom yum at the same time & one plate completely was missing mushrooms & lacked bean sprouts while the other had an abundance. Songkran continues to be our go to local fave! I feel so lucky that hubs and I were able to sneak in a lunch date at Songkran on my birthday last month before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Our 17 year Anniversary was this past week in the midst of these very scary times. So what did we do? We picked up Songkran to go! Now, of course my plating wasn't as pretty but man oh man did it bring Joy to our hearts and yummies to our tummy! Faves: Panang curry with chicken and coconut rice, Spicy herbal with tofu and coconut rice, AND mango and coconut sticky rice for dessert. Wow, St. Albert is finally getting more ethnic and diversified in its restaurant options ('bout time). A new spot, Songkran Thai, opened in the spot that formerly housed SixnSeven (and apparently, this was a carwash back in the day). It's located right across the street from Sushi Park and The Cajun House. First trip, we came on a Friday for lunch and HOLY CRAP, it was beyond busy. I couldn't believe how packed it was. We got there right at noon and didn't get our food till almost an hour later. Yikes. The lunch combo is an incredibly good deal. There's 26 options and all are priced at $10.95. You can also add a spring rolls, soup, salad or fried egg for an extra $1.00. Trip #1 - Red curry (C2) ($10.95) - curry was addictively good. - Pineapple fried rice (41) ($10.95) - good amount of cashews and pineapple. Nice wok hei to it. - Pad thai tom yam (L15) ($10.95) - I like how they served the lime and crushed peanuts separately - smart in case someone is allergic. Noodles were tasty with the tom yam coming through prominently. Trip #2 We decided to give them a try at dinner. I met up with J and C on a Monday evening. - Thai iced tea ($3.95) - I've ordered one every time that I've gone. Good. - Gold bag (#10) ($6.00) - light and cripy but not much filling. Not as good as the ones at Million Thai. - Spicy glass noodle salad (#14) ($13.95) - nice acidity. Didn't find it too spicy. - Green curry (#26) ($14.95) - green curry was as good as the red one. - Crab fried rice (#42) ($15.95) - this was fantastic. The crab was incredibly flavourful. I kept on going back for more. - Lemon grass stir fry (#58) ($14.95) - we added beef to this dish. Lemongrass was very aromatic but this dish is pretty standard fare. - Coconut rice (#61) ($7.00) - one portion size is $3.50 so we ordered two to share with our meal. Fragrant. $10.95 for a lunch combo! 'Nuff said! I've tried their Pad Thai, Spicy Pad Thai, Green Curry, Panang Curry, Basil Stiry Fry and they were all full of flavour and well prepared. I've also tried their duck curry from the dinner menu - also yummy! Service is quick, friendly and efficient. Finally got to try Songkran Thai yesterday after a few feeble attempts previously. Took a fellow Yelpers sage advice and tried the incredible $10.95 lunch special. Heather and I met on our lunch breaks, I tried the Green Curry on coconut rice and she had the Pad Thai Tom Yam. Both were made fresh and were flavourful and delicious. We added two spring rolls (good, not stand out) and a starter Tom Yam Vegetable Soup which I found tasty but a bit sweet. We will be trying this again with a group of friends for dinner in the next month or so and look forward to exploring the dinner menu. A great addition to the St. Albert food scene! read more

Are. You. Kidding. Me. Finally, a Thai restaurant that I can glow about! Normally, I don't go arse over tea kettle for a new restaurant, but Songkran is the exception. I have missed good quality Thai food at a decent price in the greater Edmonton area. Granted, there is good Thai in this town, but they're usually overpriced, second rate or a combination of both. Songkran Thai Restaurant is located on St. Anne street in St. Albert, just west of St. Albert Trail in the old Six N Seven location. The trophy wife and I (with the trophy boy in tow) stopped in just minutes after their doors opened for the first time. After admiring the simple yet lovely decor, we were seated at a booth were the lunch menus also doubled as place mats. The color pictures and descriptions of the dishes were delightful and helped up decide on what to try for lunch. We opted for panang curry, a basil stir fry and pineapple fried rice, with the mango sticky rice for dessert. Long story short, everything that we ordered was nothing short of AMAZING! All of the lunch combos came with your choice of steamed or coconut rice (we chose coconut) with beef, pork, chicken or tofu. We chose chicken with the panang, tofu with the basil stir fry and the boy wanted beef with the pineapple rice. I cannot reiterate enough how delicious each and every dish was. At a $10.95 price tag for lunch combos, we were beside ourselves with excitement at the flavours and the value of our meal. Our server Mimsong (I hope I got her name right) was so unbelievably friendly and knowledgeable. If she wasn't sure of one of our many questions (and I mean many!) she repeatedly took the time to go back and asked someone who could answer. If you enjoy high quality traditional Thai food, good prices and fantastic service, then run (don't walk!) to Songkran! You will not be disappointed! Lunch ends at 2 and we squeaked in at 1:30 on a weekday. Service was really friendly and our food came out quickly. I believe this was a pizza place and then a Chinese place, so the inside had red booths that have that sort of old school feel. It's very bright and clean though. The Thai tea is good and not overly sweet - one of my biggest peeves. This one was just right, but had lots and lots of ice. We ordered three combos ($10.95 each) and added spring rolls and a soup. Everything came out at pretty much the same time. The soup had a lot of flavour but was lukewarm. There was one spear of broccoli, one mushroom and a lot of lemongrass. I'd probably skip this going forward. The spring rolls were hot and crispy, but a bit light on the filling. Our favourite was the lemongrass pad Thai. Very good texture, big portion and delicious flavour. The curry was creamy with a bit of heat and lots of pineapple and veg, but skimpy on protein. The stir fry was good, but nothing super exciting. Everything nailed it on flavour though, so I was very happy with that. We ended with the sticky rice and it was ok, but I like it better at other places where the rice wasn't as dry. Overall, we really liked it here. I would gladly come back and try more things - but I can't stop thinking about that pad Thai!! read more

In St Albert for some reason, and this is what we chose. Located close to downtown St A, and it was easy to walk in on a Thursday and get a spot. Seated promptly and served quickly by a friendly attentive waitress. My wife and I ordered the green onion cakes, spring rolls, pad Thai and a beef red curry. Food came out fast and hot but it was all a bit bland and boring flavour wise. Mild spice and it all just tasted like 1 or 2 things were missed when assembling the food from the recipe. Fish sauce? Not bad at all! My cousin brought us out for dinner tonight- he raves about this place. He's a huge fan of the yellow and red curry. The appetizers we ordered were mostly fried foods- golden bags, and what looked like little samosas. They were pretty good. I had to go for pad Thai because it's my favorite Thai dish. It was super tasty and enough to feed me 3 times over! I would probably order it with shrimp instead of chicken if I got it again though. Food was delicious, however I wasn't a huge fan of the Spicy Pad Thai. First off, it didn't have a single hint of spice which i found weird, since their were 2 different Pad Thai's on the menu: One regular and one spicy. Perhaps ours was wrong, I am just not sure. Secondly, It just had a strange taste to it that I couldn't figure out. It wasn't our favorite Pad Thai that's for sure. However, the panang curry made up for it as it was amazing and full of flavor!! Went great with the coconut rice, and green onion cakes were on point as well! They definitely needed more wait staff as well, as there was only one girl running the front end and she looked like she had her hands full as it got pretty busy, with dine-in eaters and people coming in for take out. What a find! Hadn't eaten anywhere in downtown St. Albert in years, bug so glad we decided to give this place a try. Impressive selection of lunch specials for 10.95 - add 1$ more for 2 simple but tasty spring rolls, some tom yam soup, or a salad to start. As others have noted, the coconut rice is a must! I had the pandang curry which had a nice heat to it and loads of flavor from the coconut milk and lemon grass base. Service was quick and attentive. Deep friend banana and mango/coconut sesserts were okay, but not great for 6$ a piece. We will absolutely be headed back for lunch or dinner next time we are in town. W read more

I visited this place while on a date with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was alright, and the service was good, and the food was delicious. The coconut rice offered with the dishes is fantastic and moist, as well as the vegetables taste fresh and cooked to the right texture. The food that boasts the "spicy" label could be overall spicier, as they seem to tone down the heat. I love to see that the restaurant is always full to the brim of happy customers. read more

The food is always hot, fast, and delicious. I crave the yellow curry so much in between visits! The service is always great as well.

So we had to return, of course!! Made reservations for a Saturday night for a larger party, and the table was nicely set and ready for us immediately. It was a treat to order LOTS of food this time (with the excuse that our guests needed to try everything we loved before and more) and it just kept coming and coming, each dish more delicious than the last. The curry remains my favourite and I suspect I will always need to order it, but coming very close to the top of my list was the gingered veggies. Oh my gosh, perfection! A great variety of veggies with just the right amount of ginger. You can also include the meat (or tofu) of your choice, but honestly it was superb with just enjoying each vegetable for itself. Also tried the calamari, green onion cakes, teriyaki beef, pad noodles, and we scraped the serving dishes clean. Can't rave enough about this place :-) read more

We always call our order in and show up at the time they say it will be done and then still have to wait 20-30 mins which is very poor in my opinion. A delightful Thai restaurant with a bright and well decorated interior. Parking is abit difficult in the front of the building as it is small. The menu has many selections from stirfries, soups and numerous noodle dishes. There are alcoholic drinks and the menu also has a dessert section. We choose 3 separate dishes, pad Thai, cashew stirfry and a glass noodle dish. Each dish was freshly made with a good balance of vegetables and enormous portions. The service was delightful, quick and very helpful. My last visit was very successful as the curries were flavorful, so I was expecting the same this time. This time the bold flavours were gone. The herbs, fresh chillis and deep flavours of the meat were missing in all our dishes. This is so DISAPPOINTING and unfortunately, this will be our last visit. read more
