Slightly toasted baguette slathered with pate and mayo and LOADED with your chosen toppings. And at $8.95 for a cold cuts sandwich (well worth the extra $1.50 for slivered jalapeño), it's maximum value too. Best bread. Best ingredients. Best price. And on the Southside too, where I live. Seriously? I'm so glad I found this place. Got a Vietnamese iced coffee and it was awesome. Then I got another to go. With that, I added the mango salad sampler. It's fresh and tasty, but a big awkward. Like it's missing something. Maybe some lettuce? I dunno. I might not get that again. I repeat though, it was tasty, just not worth I think. We've been utilizing Mini Mango for catering services for over a year and they have been absolutely incredible to work with. Love that we can support a local business and their food is always delicious and well prepared/presented. They are able to accommodate many dietary needs such as vegan/vegetarian, celiac and dairy free, to name a few. They are always mindful and careful with their packaging and prompt with delivery and identifying foods for those who have diet/allergy needs. I haven't had the opportunity of dining in here, but when I went to pick up once, I noticed the restaurant only has limited seating and although cramped, it was very busy and lively and all the tables were filled. It is a little hard to navigate especially when busy but well worth experiencing! Highly recommend and looking forward to continuing to use them for our catering needs going forward. read more

Came here on a recommendation of a friend. Located in summerside, it's tucked away in a little strip mall. The restaurant style is pretty small and more suited for take-out and not for more than 20 people max. It's a bit of a hole-in-the wall ordeal. My boyfriend and our friend ordered the Bun Bo Hue which he swears by. Im not as adventurous with my food options so I decided to order the Brisket Pho. After placing our order, we grabbed our waters and utensils which were situated on an island near the counter. I liked the idea of the self serve since I drink water like i'm dehydrated and I don't like to bother staff for a million refills. When we got our food, I was pretty disappointed with the broth. It was super bland and I had to douse it in sriracha and hoisin for it to taste a little like regular pho. The owners did reach out to me and let me know they do a more healthy approach to their broth -- which is respectable, but I prefer to go to authentic Vietnamese spots with super flavourful broth. They DO however have really good iced Vietnamese coffee. It's more on the sweet side and not too bitter. If I were to come back I would come back for just the drink. I feel this would be a great spot for people that are just starting to experiment with Viet food. Came to Mini Mango tonight at the recommendation of fellow Yelpers while in a part of town I don't normally find myself. The little restaurant itself is quite cute and you almost forget you're sandwiched in a strip mall. It's kinda like Famoso meets Wok Box but better. Walk up & order from the VAST menu, pay, grab your water & utensils and then grab a seat while waiting for your food to come! Tonight, the hubs and I tried the fried prawns wrapped in wonton paper (blah - boring and overpriced), lemongrass veggies with tofus (Yummy), and a Vietnamese sandwich & soup combo (double yummy)! The total came to just under $35 with tip. The lemongrass was excellent and came with a bounty of fresh veggies - red/green peppers, mushrooms, celery, onions, carrots oh my! I looooove a good lemongrass & this did not disappoint (Just under $12 so easy on the wallet, too)! Next up was the Bahn Mi (Lemongrass chicken sub) combo with mini wonton soup (phenomenal) & drink for $9.95 (Another killer deal with dynamite bang for your buck)! This is one of my favorite go-to places when I visit Edmonton. It's a very small spot in a strip mall....kind of like a Vietnamese Opa, but with a broader menu and more attention to the food than you'd associate with a typical ethnic fast food place. You won't go there for the decor or ambiance - yes it's neat, clean and nicely decorated in a weird "asia meets Ikea" kind of way, but the food does all the real talking. It's been busy every single time I've dropped in, which has typically been mid-week around 6pm. A wait is not unusual, and their take-out business appears to be very brisk. Haven't tried the pad thai, but the bánh mì (Vietnamese sub sandwiches), lemongrass salad and thai red curry have all been very good. So, after we dropped the dogs off at doggy daycare, we headed to Mini Mango for some dinner. The staff were really friendly and quite patient with us as we looked through the menu (It was our first time there). We ordered at the counter and took our seats. The food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time, and we were very happy with how everything looked! My mom ordered regular Pho and said it was very flavourful. They provided the typical hot sauce, hoisin, bean sprouts, and mint and she put it all to use. I went with the 2 colour vermicilli bowl. Although tasty, I found it to be lacking flavour slightly. This is my review on what I ordered over the years; Salad rolls- I've tried many different ones in different locations and these ones are by far my favourite! The taste is on point and the sizing is a little thinner then the other ones I've tired, so they fit perfectly in my mouth. Pack on some peanut sauce and you'll have the perfect bite! Vermicelli bowls- Loaded with meat and veggies. You get a lot of bang for your buck which you can't say about other places around town. Although it was busy, we didn't wait too long for our Banh Mi ($7). I had been craving a Vietnamese sub for days and these did not disappoint. I've been here quite a bit as it is close to home. The vermicelli bowls are great, I find the beef almost Korean style BBQ, while the chicken and pork is nicely grilled. The shrimp also has a unique flavour, not just the grilled taste, it must be a marinade. The amount of veggies is great and the sauce similar to that of most vermicelli bowls. The soups are very fresh tasting, the veggies are fresh and slightly crisp, I really enjoy the wor wonton soup, it's very filling. Seating is limited as it is not the largest space. Since my favourite Vietnamese restaurant is on Vacay, and I found myself craving it, I decided to try Mini Mango. I ordered take-out, and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived in less than 15, and my food was bagged up, hot, and ready to go! So definitely seems like good service. The restaurant itself is very small, so I would definitely recommend take out. We had the 5 colour vermicelli rice bowl, and they do a really great job on their menu with outlining all the options and substitutions. I also got the coconut lemongrass wok veggies with coconut rice. Everything tasted good, and the prices were comparable to my fave Vietnamese place. I did, however, find it much too salty. read more

The place was busy with a decent atmosphere for a small venue. We ordered the 5 color vermicelli bowl. It was quite tasty and very filling. I wasn't blown away but was very pleased. For the type of restaurant (not really a recommend higher end place) the quality is certainly there. As a nice neighborhood place I would certainly go back and certainly have plans to do so. This restaurant is located in the Summerside area of Ellerslie, by the Save On Foods. It's a small little restaurant, but brightly decorated. I decide to order some salad rolls and onion cakes to go. I love salad rolls, and these were quite good. You get the option for prawns, chicken, beef, pork or tofu for the salad rolls. You can also add shredded mango, which I tried. I liked the salad rolls, the mango gives it a different flavour than a regular salad roll. It's served with the delicious yummy peanut sauce. I'm not an onion cake aficionado, but I was crazing them and my craving was satisfied. I love Vietnamese food, and I'm usually on the southside, so this will definitely be a restaurant I'll come back to again. read more

I don't eat here as often as I'd like, especially for its close proximity to home, but Mini Mango offers delicious Asian food at a great price. I really enjoy the Thai Red Curry with a large side of coconut rice and also the Tom Yum Soup (made with chicken.) I ordered both to-go on my recent visit, and always, was impressed with the portion sizes and value for the price, as well as the quick time between ordering and pickup. The food was hot hot hot and was enough for multiple meals (I think four in total) but let's be honest, it's so good that I really wanted to eat it all at once! I was especially glad for the just right amount of spice, and the soup was key in helping to fight my cold :) Mini Mango has lots to offer and I hope to find myself there more frequently - It's Yum Yum! read more

Because I live only minutes away, I've been a regular at this restaurant for the last 3 years. Although I've noticed a decline in the quality of their food, the portions getting significantly smaller, and while at the same time prices increasing, I always returned because it was convenient and a good place to have a quick bite. I was just there today to have a snack of Salad Rolls and believe me not, I DON'T THINK I CAN TRUST THE STAFF THERE MAKING MY FOOD EVER AGAIN! This is the reason why: The peanut sauce they served me today just didn't taste right; it was gooey and super tangy/sour. So I walked up to the counter to tell the staff, and I saw her in the kitchen pouring peanut sauce down the drain. So they knew the sauce was bad and still served it to me!? I was appalled! She quickly apologized and made me a new batch. The chef, who had a heavy accent and didn't speak English well, came out to tell me it had something to do with "water getting into the sauce". Hmmm... still why did you serve me the same sauce you were pouring down the drain! Even though I took only one bite, I just hope I don't get sick! Never again! Yuck! Wow, completely lucked out today for lunch. Was feeling like Vietnamese all week, did a quick yelp search just before lunch, found Mini Mango only a couple blocks away. The restaurant is rather small. We arrived at around 11:50 and most of the tables were available. However by the time we got halfway through our meal, the place was fairly full. I order the sandwich and soup combo for $10. The wonton soup was great. It included both vegetables and wontons and couldn't have tasted better on a nice cold winters day. For the sandwich I had the classic assorted Vietnamese cold cut. The bun was good, however the ends were a bit dry. Overall the combo is a great value and I will definitely be coming back for more. Oddly enough, as we left the restaurant I noticed the food on the other customers plates looked amazing. I might just have to come back to try some of the dish I saw while leaving this place! While it can feel a bit crowded during the lunch rush, the food is good, the staff are very friendly, and their menu is extensive (the smaller text on the menu can be a bit hard to read unless you're right up at the cashier, however). My favorite! Hidden gem! My husband and I have been coming here for years. It's close to home and easy to pick up dinner to go. You can eat in the restaurant but they only have a few tables, it can get cramped. Are go to dishes are usually the Vermicelli Bowls, salad rolls, and the Pad Thai is my favorite in the whole city. Over the years the prices have significantly gone up and we don't come as often as you used to. So this is the 3rd time I've visited Mini Mango, so I figured it was time I did a review. This is a cute little restaurant- nicely decorated, but not much seating. On my previous visits I chose the 5 colour bowl, and was very happy with the amount of food, taste and quality. Today I called in my order, which was fast and efficient. 15 minutes later I walked over and had to wait a long time due to a malfunction with their chip reader (or a customer who didn't know how to use it. Hard to tell). By the time I got my food (a 2 colour meal) it was cold and I was still very hungry afterwards. There wasn't much meat or vegetables at all- I would estimate under 2 oz of pork. I'm not sure if this is something that just happens with take-out meals, but I know that $12 at similar restaurants can get you twice the amount of food. Boo, Mini Mango! It is still great tasting food though, but I would suggest getting a bigger meal if you are hungry. read more

When this place first opened, I went here all the time. I ended up filling many "buy 10 get 1 free" cards. I hadn't been for a while and when I read a review that said they are starting to reduce their filling in the sandwiches I was appalled. I went there to try it myself and sure enough, their filling had shrunk about 1/3. This made the bread to filling ratio skew way off and it feels like you're eating mostly bread. It was previously about 60/40. (almost half and half) But now with the reduction it's tastes like 75/25. Granted their skinny baguette bread still tastes very good but when the sandwiches already cost 15% more than other places I'd rather go somewhere else. Previously a 4 star rating, now only 2 because of the recent changes. read more
