Pad see ew
Kana S.

We stopped here during our trip. The portion is pretty big and their spicy level is spicier than typical Thai restaurant in the US. The food was just fine. I ordered my noodles with level 3 spiciness (I like spicy) and had stomachahe after. I suggest you to go 1 level lower than what you typically order at other restaurants.

Pad kee mao with tofu (made vegan)
Matt B.

Not great Thai food, but it's a small town and they have vegan options, so you could do worse. We did a take-out order one evening when passing through town, and our order was ready in 20 minutes. We ordered the pa nang curry, garlic pepper stirfry, and pad kee mao -- all with tofu and all modified to be vegan. We requested everything to be a 4 out of 5 spiciness. First, the good: Almost all their dishes can be made vegan, include their curries, stir fries, and noodle dishes. Value for money is good, as they have large portions, and all non-noodle dishes come with rice. Service was friendly over the phone for the order and gave me confidence that the dishes would be done vegan as requested. Okay, the bad: the 4/5 spiciness was insane. We've been to Thailand and know what Thai spiciness can be. This place seems to just add chilis to the dishes without properly integrating the spiciness into the dishes. But perhaps the problem is with the dishes, because all 3 dishes lacked flavour depth, even the curry. The pad kee mao was the blandest and most boring of all, with almost no flavour besides the garlic -- I don't usually complain about lack of salt in Asian food, but this dish was under-salted. Essentially ditto for the garlic pepper dish. The curry had more flavour, but still lacked depth that Thai curries can have. All 3 dishes were disappointing flavour-wise and prohibitively spicy to be able to enjoy without suffering -- mouths and assholes beware. All in all, subpar Thai food. At least they can cater to vegans, which we really appreciate, But we wouldn't return. The food just isn't made well.

Pad se ew with seafood

Delicious soup. The pad se ew was great, my second time having it because I like it a lot. The Thai iced tea was very good.

a menu for a restaurant

Everything was fresh!! Veggies cooked perfectly. My complaint is the fried tofu head ZERO seasoning and the crab Rangoon that says contain real crab... there was no crab in it. Not a single one of the 6 pieces did we come across a single piece of meat. I get crab prices are expensive, so maybe put one piece in each wrapper or don't claim real crab and use fake. Other than those things, the service was super friendly, the portions are enough, and the meals were good. Ps,,,not real Thai rice, just Jasmine rice.

#58 w/ chicken spice level 4 - loving it - delicious

The food is good but not anything life changing. I had the pad Thai and the noodles were a bit weird. I prefer Thai Smiles.

It was lunchtime and we were hungry. We walked around looking at all the menus in the windows of…read morerestaurants..... not really impressed. I mean if your in Long Beach, WA. and you want fish N chips or a burger, you my friend have found paradise. We wanted neither, especially not at these prices. Earlier we noticed a Thai Food place but it didn't open till 2:00 and it was a little before 1:00pm. so we kept looking for something we both wanted and after saying No to all of it including the Mexican Food place with their high prices, we noticed it was almost 2:00pm. We figured by the time we walk back Malai Thai should be open and we were right. There is No Handicap Access and it's only a matter of time before that becomes an issue.....more of an issue. We saw an older person with a walker go inside and sit at 1 of 2 tables. They don't have table service, Only Take Out. That's right, TOGO Order's Only! That was fine for us because the sun was shining and we saw an empty picnic bench next to a fish pond with a fountain, perfect. We both ordered Pad Thai, she had chicken, I ordered mine with tofu. Bought some cold cans of soda and waited. Our food came out pretty fast. Then again, we were first in line that day. We grabbed our stuff and headed out to the picnic bench, perfect. We opened our boxes and everything looked and smelled delicious and it was. We didn't really talk while eating. Just the sound of a coastal town and us getting busy with our food.I judge all Thai Restaurants by how they make pad Thai. Malai Thai has it down good. The best was the prices. For one thing, costal restaurants charge tourists rates on everything. Like more than double in some cases. Do they think we don't have an Amazon account. Malai Thai was priced fairly. We were very happy with our meal and how much it cost. Definitely coming back and trying other menu items.

Foods: nowhere close to what the dishes were identified to be. We ordered Drunken Noodles and a…read moresweet chicken dish. The Drunken Noodle was not tasty and lacking in effort to boost its spices and herbs. Beef was sliced thickly and not tender. Poorly executed. Ambiance: it's a takeout place ONLY Service: quite timely in their promised readiness. Conclusion: would I return? No, for a takeout ONLY place, your dishes are the main attraction and it's not there.

Spent Thanksgiving week in Oregon and was so lucky to have discovered this great Thai restaurant…read morewhile vacationing in Astoria. The food here was near perfection and warranted multiple visits in our 4-day stay in Astoria. The corn fritters were a great crunchy way to start the meal. Think fried creamed corn patties. The accompanying sauce tasted great and paired with the dunkable corn fritters they were a perfect appetizer. The fresh rolls, were just that, re-freshing. The peanut sauce was great. The chicken wings were fried perfectly, were crispy, and seasoned so wonderfully. I ordered these on each visit and enjoyed them every time. The Chicken Larb was good, not the best I've ever had, but very respectable. The chicken was not dried out, like a lot of places. The dish could have used a bit more spice and seasoning, but it was still very good. And lastly, the Shrimp Spicy Basil Stir Fry was delicious! It had perfectly sautéed shrimp, great spicy hot basil sauce, and vegetables that were fresh and delicious. It was so good and ate really well with. Just white rice. I can't wait to return to Astoria...I will definitely be back here every day they're open.

changed my mind and went back....Big Mistake. Stupid me!…read moreThey have now gone to plastic utensils. Plates, cups, glasses and plates. The prices are still soaring and the portions low. Wow, this a giant step backwards. Why would you have a sit down Thai restaurant serve food on paper? Are you too cheap to hire a dishwasher?
