I almost walked past Little Bangkok Thai Kitchen 2…read more It was lunchtime, yet the stall was practically empty while the one next door was busy with customers. Usually, that would be enough to make me look elsewhere. This time, I took a chance, and I'm glad I did. The stall is run by a genuinely friendly couple, and the service was impressively quick. My order was ready in about five minutes and handed to me with a bright smile. There was something refreshing about that kind of service. No fuss, no long wait, just a warm greeting and a hot meal. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai combo for $16.75, just a little more than the roughly $15 regular dish. The combo comes with a pop, soup and spring roll. The pad Thai arrived loaded with crunchy crushed peanuts, crisp vegetables and savoury shrimp. The noodles were soft and chewy, while the vegetables and peanuts brought plenty of crunch and contrast. There was a nice balance of sweet, savoury and tangy flavours, with the shrimp adding a deeper savoury note throughout. I went with medium spice, which turned out to be just right. There was enough heat to warm me up without overwhelming the food. The spice lingered on the palate, giving each bite a pleasant kick while still allowing the other flavours to come through. What I enjoyed most was how much the food reminded me of home cooking. It did not feel mass-produced or thrown together simply because it was lunchtime. There was a certain care in it, like someone had taken the time to make a proper meal. For around the same price as something you might get from a school cafeteria, this was considerably more satisfying. The soup was the one weak point. It was essentially hot water with a little salt and cilantro, and I could have done without it. The spring roll was much better, adding some crispness to the meal. Little Bangkok may have been the quiet stall, but the food gave me a reason to stop. Fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavours, a satisfying mix of textures and just enough spice made the pad Thai genuinely enjoyable. Add the remarkably fast service and the warmth of the couple running the stall, and this was one lunch-hour gamble that paid off.

We were seated outside on the patio as it was the first table available. I didn't really like the table we sat at because it was on a slant and the the table was a bit wobbly so it made both sitting and eating a bit awkward. We shared an appetizer platter so I was able to try the following: - Spring Rolls: Good. Better and lighter than I expected. - Satay: Good/average. - Crispy Wontons: Average Service wasn't great. Rushed, not readily available, and both drinks and food came out fairly slow. Overall, it was ok. Nothing really outstanding in food or service, andexpensive for what we got. The unique politeness and meticulousness of Japanese service are naturally reflected here. The food is also a reason I want to come back. Whether it's the freshness of the ingredients, the presentation, or the taste, you can feel the attention to detail. Japanese cuisine emphasizes the quality of the ingredients themselves, and Miku presents this refinement beautifully. Every dish is pleasing to the eye and has a layered flavor. I also love the ambiance. The overall design is simple, elegant, and has a very comfortable Japanese aesthetic. The lighting, seating, and spatial layout all create a relaxing atmosphere without feeling overly decorated; instead, they have a high-quality feel. As for the atmosphere, I think it's what makes this place so special. Elegant and quiet, yet not too formal, it's suitable for dates or enjoying a good meal with friends. Sitting there slowly eating and chatting makes the whole dining experience particularly comfortable. After several visits, I still feel that Miku is a restaurant worth returning to again and again. The restaurant is located on a busy street and is unassuming/easy to miss so I'm glad my boyfriend pointed it out for us to try with some friends. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. They all arrived relatively quickly and my favourites were the pad thai and the khao soi. The pad thai was fragrant and on the sweeter side which I like. I also liked the fresh raw bean sprouts on the side. The khao soi was curry noodles with tender beef and crispy egg noodles. The curry was very flavourful with a hint of heat and sweetness. This was also my first time trying curry noodles at a Thai restaurant. The green curry was filled with bamboo shoots, peppers, and a good amount of chicken. The flavour from the bamboo shoots really comes through as well. For the crab fried rice, it came with a spicy sauce and pickled vegetables. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough to go around so I didn't get a chance to get a good taste of it with the rice. However, I scooped some curry sauce from the khao soi onto the crab friend rice and it was delicious! Finally, we tried the mango sticky rice and my goodness, it was so pretty! The rice was warm and sweet which paired beautifully with the slightly tart mango. I'll definitely have to come back to have more of the khao soi noodles!
