This is a little hidden gem. At 300+ reviews with 4 stars, I'd overall say this is a win. We ate on a Monday night and it had several customers even close to closing time. Most people had take out containers meaning the portions are large We got the pad see ew and the kha soy. I was really thankful for their kha soy as it tasted very fresh. The soft and friend noodles were perfect. Good amount of vegetables. I would maybe add a little bit of broth if I could bc the noodles soak up the thick broth very quickly. They warn you that this places spicy level is thai level. 1-5 is the goal. We got a 2 and it was already pretty nice and spicy. I am glad they let us know. Inside is quaint and cute. Such a hidden gem! It's has a lot of seating and the staff was great and welcoming! Food was really good and the portions were really big. The drunken noodles were the perfect texture and the perfect amount of spice. Spring rolls were really fresh and their tamarind/peanut sauce was perfect. Their sauces were great too even though I personally don't think you need them. I would love to try a fish dish next time! Ordered takeout from here and we ate it right away in the car on the way back home from our volleyball tournament. Got the Pad see ew with beef, Pad Thai with shrimp and tofu, and the Pad Kee Mao. Ok this place is legit when it comes to spicy and they're not playing around. This is not white people spicy. I asked for a medium for the Pad Kee Mao and my tongue was on fire. My husband loved it. The beef for the Pad see ew was really chewy I definitely regretted that protein. For the Pad see ew they also use broccoli instead of the Gai Lan aka chinese broccoli (traditionally). Pad Thai was definitely the highlight. That was better than the other two dishes. With the ingredients and the flavor, I feel like the Pad see ew is really lacking. I came out with just okay. If you love spicy food then this is the place for you! I got the pad kee maw and asked for spicy and they delivered on that! It was so good, the noodles soft and full of flavor and the tofu soaked up all the spice that I wanted. If you don't like spicy food or can't tolerate it I would recommend sticking to level 1 because even that is spicy for my non spice tolerant friends. They however enjoyed the their food as well. Tonight, I decided to try something new from this restaurant. Last week, I ordered the Keau Nam soup in a small size, and since I wasn't feeling well this evening, I went for the large. Unfortunately, this time the soup was missing the ginger and wasn't its usual yellow color. Despite that, it still had great flavor and was comforting. I also tried the Hat-Yai Fried Chicken dinner for the first time, and I'm so glad I did--it was delicious! The chicken was flavorful, and the pink tamarind sauce was a perfect touch. Located off of Douglas Blvd. this location doesn't look like much from the outside but upon walking in you're transported to an authentic Thai gem of a restaurant located in Roseville. My husband and I had been looking for a new Thai food spot in the area after moving here from Sacramento. This has become our new go to spot! The portions for the price are reasonable and packed with flavor. After coming here more than a handful of times, we have likely interacted with all of their front facing employees and they have all exhibited the highest form of great customer service. They promptly greet us, seat us, fill up our glasses, offer us to go boxes, and the bill. We typically each order our own curry with sides of white rice and share an order of drunken noodles. On this date they were out of the typical noodles used for this plate and so they subbed it for another type of noodle- this did affect the taste more than I had anticipated. We ordered medium spice and the spice was more of what I would consider a high spice! One of Sacs hidden gems. We walked in here unprepared for how great it was. Our waiter and owner Toy suggested some of their dishes and we said why not? We couldn't believe how good they were. This is authentic Thai food, we have tried many Thai places in midtown and this easily takes the gold star. It was just the right amount of spice, not greasy, you could taste the different tones. We tried the drunken noodles and their seasonal winter melon curry. We originally were way past our lunch time but couldn't stop eating. Service waa excellent and the heart of the house was on point. There was a retirement party of about 20 people in early dining stages when I arrived. They fit my food order in nicely. A gal who came to dine right after I arrived shared the service is always excellent at Thai Basil. The place was clean and felt comfortable. Not sure if it was a Saturday night bonus or if it was for the retirement party but there was a Thai dancer for about 20-30 minutes. Beautiful outfit and cool because the entire ambiance felt like a holiday party and well, with the rona fears, I've forgotten that warm feeling. The Tom ka gai had some different mushrooms that had different flavor. Their shape caught me odd guard and made me giggle. The yellow curry chicken arrived in a red bowl and had a more liquid consistency than I am accustomed to enjoying. The rice was good even if they don't offer brown rice. Simple is probably easiest and I give a nod to that. They're closed Sundays for the time being due to shortage of help. That's cool. I'll probably return and just try different dishes. While the food tasted quite good, but too Salty until bitterness. about four to five hours after eating, I started experiencing severe diarrhea that continued into the next day. I called the restaurant to report this issue, but they blamed it on something I might have eaten for lunch. However, I hadn't eaten anything for lunch that day, so their explanation didn't make sense. I hope the restaurant takes food safety more seriously and ensures the quality and hygiene of their dishes. We asked for medium spicy- and it was perfect level of spice. Everything tasted great. Love the flavors and the curry was tasty with the right balance of veggies in each dish. Quality has gone way down. Just ordered dinner and it was very disappointing! The worst was the rice was under cooked. At an Asian restaurant this should be #1. But nobody is checking the quality. The place was not busy at all and the least someone could have checked. All the meat in the sauces were so hard. We had a few different entrees with chicken, beef and tofu and they all were poor quality and over cooked. Even the fried tofu had the consistency of a sponge. We ordered the fried whole fish and it was barely edible. Most of it was just too overcooked to eat. Much got tossed in the garbage and we're not interested in returning. read more
