I ordered the Pad Mee Kow or Drunken Noodles with Beef just based off Yelp photos. I don't normally order this dish, but it's the best I've had. Noodles intact and not stuck together. Lots of beef. Not the most tender meat, so maybe pork would be better. On my next lunch visit, I ordered Pad Ka Prow with Ground Pork & Brown Rice and a small Crystal Noodles Soup. You can choose a spice level from 1 (mild) to 5 (most spicy). I chose level 3, but I probably would be happier with level 1 or 2. Choice of jasmine rice or brown rice. I enjoyed the chewy texture and appearance of the brown rice. Pad Ka Prow is tasty. I loved the Crystal Noodles Soup. It's seasoned well with lots of ingredients, like chicken, wood ear mushrooms, and Napa cabbage. There are 5 different soups that you can order as a Small portion, including Tom Yum, Tom Kha, and Wonton Soup. I look forward to trying more soups. This is a little hidden gem. At 300+ reviews with 4 stars, I'd overall say this is a win. If you love spicy food then this is the place for you! I got the pad kee maw and asked for spicy and they delivered on that! It was so good, the noodles soft and full of flavor and the tofu soaked up all the spice that I wanted. If you don't like spicy food or can't tolerate it I would recommend sticking to level 1 because even that is spicy for my non spice tolerant friends. They however enjoyed the their food as well. We just needed something small and quick to tide us over between lunch and dinner so we stopped in around 2pm on a Thursday afternoon. We shared the chicken satay and the potstickers. The peanut sauce that came with the chicken satay was delicious and the chicken itself was piping hot and very tender. The marinated cucumbers with the satay added a nice balance to the chicken. The potstickers were also done perfectly and had great flavor. Service here is fast and friendly and prices seem reasonable for the serving sizes. Tonight, I decided to try something new from this restaurant. Last week, I ordered the Keau Nam soup in a small size, and since I wasn't feeling well this evening, I went for the large. Unfortunately, this time the soup was missing the ginger and wasn't its usual yellow color. Despite that, it still had great flavor and was comforting. On this date they were out of the typical noodles used for this plate and so they subbed it for another type of noodle- this did affect the taste more than I had anticipated. We ordered medium spice and the spice was more of what I would consider a high spice! Service waa excellent and the heart of the house was on point. There was a retirement party of about 20 people in early dining stages when I arrived. They fit my food order in nicely. A gal who came to dine right after I arrived shared the service is always excellent at Thai Basil. The place was clean and felt comfortable. Not sure if it was a Saturday night bonus or if it was for the retirement party but there was a Thai dancer for about 20-30 minutes. Beautiful outfit and cool because the entire ambiance felt like a holiday party and well, with the rona fears, I've forgotten that warm feeling. The Tom ka gai had some different mushrooms that had different flavor. Their shape caught me odd guard and made me giggle. The yellow curry chicken arrived in a red bowl and had a more liquid consistency than I am accustomed to enjoying. The rice was good even if they don't offer brown rice. Simple is probably easiest and I give a nod to that. They're closed Sundays for the time being due to shortage of help. That's cool. I'll probably return and just try different dishes. One of Sacs hidden gems. We walked in here unprepared for how great it was. Our waiter and owner Toy suggested some of their dishes and we said why not? We couldn't believe how good they were. This is authentic Thai food, we have tried many Thai places in midtown and this easily takes the gold star. It was just the right amount of spice, not greasy, you could taste the different tones. While the food tasted quite good, but too Salty until bitterness. about four to five hours after eating, I started experiencing severe diarrhea that continued into the next day. I called the restaurant to report this issue, but they blamed it on something I might have eaten for lunch. However, I hadn't eaten anything for lunch that day, so their explanation didn't make sense. I hope the restaurant takes food safety more seriously and ensures the quality and hygiene of their dishes.
