L18. Yellow Curry Lunch
Joyce J.

This restaurant surprised us and exceeded our expectations, especially because we didn't expect to find Asian food in this area. The menu has Thai and Chinese dishes. The lunch combinations come with a bowl-sized rice and an egg roll- quite the value for our money! The yellow curry, cashew chicken, sizzling combination & tom yum soup were all good. During a weekend lunch hour, there were quite a few customers. It seems like a place groups of coworkers like to go together. There were enough seats to accommodate everyone.

All of the food and including beverages was delicious 10/10 and would definitely come again, this place feels like home cooked food and feels so comfortable being here

My husband and I have been coming here for years, and it honestly feels like our little comfort spot. Our go-to order never changes -- the spicy seafood soup, fried rice, and spicy string beans, absolute perfection every time! The flavors are so rich and authentic, it's hard to find anything that compares. We've tried so many other dishes based on the staff's recommendations, and every single one has been delicious, never a miss! The staff here are always so friendly and welcoming and make you feel right at home the second you walk in. It's the kind of place you can count on for a cozy meal, great service, and consistently delicious food. This place truly deserves more recognition!

It was our first time visiting a Thai restaurant since visiting Thailand and this place did not disappoint! I'm usually kinda picky with pad Thai especially eating such good ones out there but the pad Thai here definitely satisfied my craving. The tom yum shrimp soup was yummy and had the perfect amount of spice, & egg rolls were nice and crispy - super excited for tomorrow's leftovers!

Ordered the tom ka soup and combination chow mein and it was okay. Soup was too salty and chow mein didn't have too much flavor.

The mom runs the kitchen and you can taste the heart behind the food, her recipes are straight-up comforting and packed with flavor. The owners are incredibly welcoming, and the whole place has this cozy, homey vibe that makes you feel like you're being invited into someone's dining room rather than just another restaurant. The staff is super kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. My personal favorites were the yellow curry and the pineapple fried rice, but honestly, everything we tried was just as delicious. It's the kind of place where you leave already thinking about what you're going to order next time. Parking is easy too since it's in a plaza. Plenty of free parking, no stress finding a spot. If you're in the South Whittier area and craving Thai food, this is one of those local gems you want to support.

For the rice, I go with spice level 3 which is definitely spicy but still super flavorful and enjoyable without overpowering the dish. Their Thai Iced Tea is amazing too! I've taken it to-go and it doesn't get watered down, which I really appreciate. Service is super friendly and it's a great spot for takeout when I want a delicious and reliable Thai meal. Love it here!

Everything was so delicious including the pad Thai, fried rice (yes I know that's 2 starches but wow it was good), stir fry vegetables (this was a huge mountain of vegetables), green curry chicken, pork belly, fried shrimp appetizer. Service was very attentive. the waitress came over multiple times to check on us. Ambience was really nice and beautifully decorated. We sat at a large table where the 6 of us sat comfortably. Thank you!

Comfortable & easy. I did notice they still had Christmas decor up when I went, even though it was already February. Not sure if it's part of their everyday aesthetic or just lingering holiday spirit, but either way it was super cute, especially at night. Service was warm from the start. Both the host & server checked in just enough & repeated my order back for accuracy, which is always appreciated. I came in craving Thai flavors but wasn't exactly sure what I wanted yet. If you're into Thai fusion or noodle spots with a diverse menu, this place gives you a lot to work with. After looking through a well-assorted menu, I landed on the Chili & Basil Chicken Egg Rolls to start & the Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta for my entrée. I noticed signage mentioning Channel 7 calling their chili & basil chicken egg rolls the best, so of course I had to try them. It wasn't just the recommendation, but the intrigue of basil chicken inside an egg roll that sold me. They came out crispy, packed with deep basil flavor, & had a great filling-to-wrapper ratio. Now for the star of the show. The Creamy Coconut Lemongrass Pasta wasn't what I expected to order, but it ended up being exactly what I needed. The flavor was rich, creamy, lightly sweet, & paired perfectly with well-sized shrimp. I've been on a skinny noodle kick lately, so I went with the glass noodles. They do offer other noodle options too, which is great if glass noodles aren't your thing. Portion size is generous, easily shareable between two. That said, I was more than happy to keep it to myself & enjoy the leftovers. Definitely a solid spot if you're in the Long Beach or OC area looking for flavorful Thai-inspired noodles. Dean by Dean Noodles is definitely a must-try if you're in the area. Thank you for the amazing food & great service!

They looked so simple, but they tasted like they had no business being that good. I should've ordered a whole tray and called it a day. For my main dish, I got the basil eggplant and orange tofu with their bomb brown rice. The flavors were so on point I briefly considered standing up and giving the chef a slow clap. Truly restrained myself. Then came the mango sticky rice... and listen, I should've taken a picture because it came out looking like it was ready for a magazine cover. The purple rice they used? Gorgeous. And honestly, I liked it way more than the usual white sticky rice. It felt fancy! On top of all that, the waiter/waitress who helped us was genuinely one of the sweetest and most attentive people I've met in a long time. Their kindness made the whole experience even better. Overall, Green Leaf Thai did not miss. Amazing food, amazing service--I'll be recommending this place to family and friends for sure.
