Had a 383 Chevy rotating assy. Balanced and learned a few things from Tony about what was necessary to make sure it was done correctly.

They do ok work. By that I mean if your hardware is bad they won't replace it, when they do wiring they do not solder and shrink tube. For what they charge. This it a standard. Maybe I was just frowned upon because my unit is not painted but non the less not happy with my service and I do not recommend them to anyone. Unless they lower the shop rate. I hope they see this and up their game because I've seen the same work at much cheaper places. I'd take pics of my collector but naw, I put new hardware because the old stuff was trashhh, I took pics of the choke wire they "re did" I'll be removing that to solder and shrink tube. After blowing up the 454 in my 72 Chevelle I decided to invest in a fully built BBC. I contacted TG's to see if they had any built motors ready to go. Tony helped me out and said they had a built 496 stroker w/aluminum heads and all the internal goods you can dream of. I purchased the block in July and had it installed in August by another speed shop. Tony was a man of his word and every part that he said was in the block was truly there. Every bolt and part was like he described. Engine is running great. This shop does amazing work and Tony was awesome to work with. Tony, the owner gave me a set price. I called again I got a different price, Tony then began to yell at me and get smart and got the motors confused. Told me the job was too big for him, that he had no knowledge.. Beware of this rude guy (over the phone) I bet not in person. read more

They quoted me one thing and a week later demanded more money and told me he "forgot to charge for this and that" Alex was a very mean person to talk to over the phone. He started threatning me and starting getting all nasty once i told him i didnt need him to lecture me in life. He had the audacity to tell me "If i ever wanted to see my block again that I better bring the cops with me for my own protection and shit was going to fan if i came alone". Took my muscle car to these guys both to the old and new shops. Tony the owner seems like a nice guy at first but changes his tune to an "I know more than you attitude" when you are not happy with the work. I have been to these guys a few times for machine work then actually took my car there to do some custom work. They said they did certain things to my car that I requested but they did not do the work. I know this why? Because one item particularly that was supposed to be taken out to be reworked never was because I marked the bolts before I dropped it off and the bolts were not even moved. I didn't say anything to them because it's not worth it. Tony will insist you're crazy and will not budge on making things right. (This is just one example) I have a few others but too much to list. I have two other friends that I referred to this place and they both had terrible experiences as well. They spent a lot of money on motors built by these guys only to have major mechanical issues and lack of horsepower TG's said the motors would have but they did not. Overall these guys are rude and do not stick by their work. Also, like all the other negative reviews say DO NOT GO THERE!!! There are a lot of other good shops in the area with better reputations and more courteous and professional people.. read more

Went over to TG's to have my engine rebuilt in my 65 Chevelle and after seeing drag cars in his shop I decided to have him build me a 383, but prior to doing that I shopped around and found his prices to be competitive. He was the only one to explain everything into detail and gave me different options without pushing anything onto me. I just took it home last week and this is a whole new BEAST! Took a jet ski block to get bored out. They did quality work and kept me in the loop. They showed me the shop and walked me through the process of what they were going to do. I did not tell them I grew up in a machine shop and they did not BS me as one would expect from the average guy. They took the time to warn me about boring without a piston kit in hand (with specs). So I bought the kits and dropped them off. Thanks for reminding me to do it right the first time guys. My rush to get back on the water before the 4th July weekend could have bitten me. Got back a quality block and milled heads. I burned my first five gallons and will let you know how the compression test goes. They took care of me and went beyond my expectations. Went in last month with a 350 boat motor to be built. They were very helpful and professional. We just got back from the river we went through a wake and boat filled with water even in the engine compartment, I'm just thankful TGs suggested to with a bigger cam and heads and manifold otherwise the boat would have sank. As the nose of the boat was up in the air and we were doing about 3mph to side shore where to campers let us use there pots and pans to take out the water...... 4 hours later were able to drive the boat away with no problems. This shop gets an A+ from me for quality work and suggests I recommend everybody to give these guys a call. read more

Before I brought my short block, heads and blower to this shop, I asked the owner if he could assemble the engine and install it in my car in five days. He told me he could and I brought everything to him on a Monday morning. On Friday I came back only to find the heads on my engine. The owner had lied to me. I loaded my long block, blower into my truck, paid him the amount he demanded and left with my motor and my car. As I was pulling away from his garage door, the owner threw a large soft drink at my Escalade screaming obscenities at me as I drove away. Do you really want to deal with an engine shop that has no problem lying to you? Find another shop, I did and they had my new engine installed and running in three days. read more

This place is a complete JOKE! The owner is a half ass moron that has other people do the work and calls it his own. He over charges the client and the customer has to take is somewhere else to get the job done. As far as I'm concerned this place should be shut down since my boss had to take his car somewhere else to have it fixed since the work TG performance did almost got him killed while he was driving. My 2002 4.7L V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee developed a gurgling sound in the cooling system, so I suspected a warped aluminum head / leaking head gasket (common in the 4.7L). TG's handled the engine work, including fully rebuilding the heads and replacing the cam chain tensioner rails (which crumbled when removed and would have destroyed my engine within a few thousand more miles). The engine looked completely factory after the work was done and no problems at all 10K miles later. Awesome work and attention to detail. Highly recommended. Just needs a four wheel dyno now because Braun's is way too expensive! read more

I bought a brand new short block. They installed it perfectly. After 250 miles, the brand new lifters broke due to defectiveness beyond TG's Control. They honored their work, and replaced the lifters at no cost to me. THAT'S WHAT I CALL PROFESSIONALISM. Plus, they were the one's who brought it to my attention that the lifters were broken when they noticed debris during an oil change. Some shops would have not said anything and just let it destroy the block. These guys are all about doing it right, no short cuts, or mickey mouse jobs in this shop. read more

Terrible machining, lied and took months. I had them do an LS2 with foraged internals and it started knocking after 5 miles. I brought it back to them and Tony the owner said they would fix it. 10 WEEKS later they still had not finished despite telling me several times it would be "done in a week". I finally had to take it to another shop and they showed me that most of the machine work was royally awful. I had to throw the bored block away because one cylinder was over oversized and badly out of round. 3 of the rods were out of round AND one crankshaft journal was so badly tapered that it had to be re-ground. Also they had re-used the old timing chain. I don't even understand how they managed to do such a bad job. Lost about $7,000 and couldn't drive my truck for months due to bringing my engine to them. read more
