I paid Tez Marble and their in-house fabricator almost 15k for marble countertops in my kitchen. They completely botched the job and now I have to hire a new contractor to entirely redo my kitchen for another 20k. Their errors include incorrectly measuring and cutting the marble, misaligning the slabs so the veining was completely off, using completely cracked slabs, cutting the sink hole too large and off-center, placing the caulking too thick and in different colors, and not lining up the seams properly, laying down the island slab unevenly, and many other egregious mistakes. Also I learned after consulting with other marble experts that the marble Tez sold to me was poor quality. They also never honed or sealed the marble which is the proper way to protect it and standard practice with other fabricators. I asked Tez repeatedly to come repair and replace the marble but they never came, they are impossible to get on the phone, and just getting the initial installation to happen took over 6 months. Before I realized how incompetent and shady Tez Marble was, I also hired them to do my bathroom marble, paying them almost $14k. It was shortly after when I determined that they were unwilling and incapable of fixing their kitchen disaster. When I told them I was no longer willing to do my bathroom project with them and wanted a refund for my prepayment of $14k for work they had not completed in any way, they threatened me, verbally attacked me, and said that if I didn't let them do the project they would charge my card even more than what I already paid. At one point, they even sent me an email admitting that they owed me a refund, but first I would need to provide them with my credit card number. Now they are threatening legal action. After consulting with several other reputable marble fabricators in the Bay Area, I learned that Tez Marble is known for their fraudulent business practices, low quality marble (they even fill their marble to hide defects), unethical billing practices, and overpriced marble. Tez makes you commit to working with their in-house fabricators when you select your marble which makes sense, because no reputable marble fabricator will go near their marble. I also learned that after consulting with a lawyer that it is illegal for them to charge the full amount for the marble and fabrication before the product and service is actually provided.. The maximum a contractor can charge as a deposit is $1000, but Tez requires payment in many months before the project is even started. After reading others reviews, I realize my experience with this company is not unique. Stay away from these scam artists. And if they have stolen from you, I encourage you to fight back. We can't let them keep getting away with this. read more

WOW we had such a great experience with Tez Marble and highly recommend this place. Best customer service I have experienced in the bay area for procuring natural stone. Specifically we worked with Gizem, she helped us look and purchase and she is fantastic. More on that below... As a developer I deal with and seek out good vendors to work with and they are hard to find. I can say I have been to every stone warehouse in the bay area and this is by far the best. I needed 3 slabs of a calcutta or statuaretto stone. I was exhausted from 3 weekends of driving around the bay area to find what we needed. Everyplace was terrible customer service, after I left they would not return phone calls or emails. OR they said over the phone they had it, I drive all the way there and they don't have it. OR the slabs are badly cracked/scraped and they are still charging full price. I was about to just fold and get a more common stone like carrara. Finally, I decide to try Tez. I had been there years ago and for some reason had crossed them off my list. I am SO glad I went back. We walked in and immediately had a person approach to help us out. We were quickly shown a number of slabs. It was "fun" I have to say. Gizem was straightforward and wuick. We got a great deal, paid and got out. The whole process was less than an hour! After this she followed up immediately for measurements. I was really impressed after all the bad places I had been before. We started a big remodeling project in August and came to Tez Marble Oakland because we were told it had a huge collection. We met Gizem the very first day and have worked with her for past 4 months. Getting a new countertop can be stressful. There are too many companies and different types of stones to choose from. How do you choose? For our kitchen project, we called several companies for weeks trying to find the right vendor and right people and the right stone, without any luck. Finally, we met Michael and Sam Tez at Tez Marble in Oakland. Sam was the one who assisted us; he is the son of the owner. He is a cool, easy-going, and helpful guy. He patiently showed us different kinds of stones at their warehouse. The warehouse has magnificent stones from different parts of the world. He then asked us about our project and measurements, so we gave him our measurements. He invited us to come to his office and said that he has a software that he can put these measurements to tell how many slabs we will need and the cost. He calculated the cost, and the price was great and well within our budget. Michael assisted with the invoice and did a fantastic job. Sam has also invited us to see how our stone are cut at Stone Empire, his Fabrication Warehouse. Just by visiting this place, you know that they are in business to give you the best countertop you could ask for. Sam is very helpful and very patient. He went above and beyond to ensure that the job is well done. He has a great team of people that does the template, fabrication, and installation. Eric, Nery, Jose, Matthew are all professional, efficient, hard worker, and very neat. We highly recommend them! Picking the right guy to do the demo and prep the foundation is just as important as picking the right stone. You want to have a great foundation to receive your stone. Like anything else, if you do not have a good foundation, the thing you are building will collapse. If you want a guy who can build a good foundation, you need to call David Wilson. He pays attention to every little detail and ensures that the foundation is stable to receive your granite, marble, or whatever you like. I was exhausted from driving to San Jose to return the tiles that's too big for my bathroom and running between 3 other different tile stores try to find the black slate tiles. All on backorder with unknown ETA!! My contractor needs them in two days so the remodeling will be done on time. You could just imagine how worried I was!! I ordered $5,000.00 on granite. They had a beautiful color called "Blue Spring." It was supposed to be natural granite. Today, January 28, it was being installed, I had to stop the project because it turns out the granite is dyed. If I had know it was dyed and not natural I would have gone to Granite Expo. I discovered this place last night on the internet and visited it today. Incredible selection. Huge. Like two enormous warehouses. Helpful. Everything is IN STOCK. I mean everything. Super low prices. I had been in Home Depot the day before and this place was charging a fraction of what that ripoff place charges. And they have boxes of chair rail, pencil rail, the same tile in 12X12, 6X6, 4X4, 3X6, mosaic, you name it. You can match anything, you can do anything, because of the in stock selection. I didn't need any today, but they have granite slabs, they have vessel sinks that you can take home, no waiting. Amazingly low prices. And all sorts of sale items. When the salesman (they are all super helpful, all trying to please) added up my order I was just holding my breath, but it was $100 for just beautiful tumbled marble, same tile in 3 different sizes. Usually the stores kill you for the small matching pieces, but not here. Instead of having to wait for at least days if not weeks, my tile was in my car and I was driving home (to a waiting contractor) in no time. This place is a find. read more

I checked out Tez online before heading out. Like the first reviewer I found that their selection was extensive and their prices quite good. However, I wished to purchase one piece of 18"x18" marble tile from the show room which I knew was in stock (I said I was shopping for a replacement tile). After a quick pow-wow the two employess decided it was too much effort to fish out a single tile to sell. My real purpose was to purchase a sample to do a fairly extensive fireplace surround, mantle, and overmantle. Think I'll be back to spend my money there? Guess again... Literally the worst customer experience you could ask for. There's a guy there named Michael who is great, friendly, and remembers you when you come back. Then there's "the other guy." If you enjoy being ignored after multiple emails phone calls and faxes regarding an order you're trying to place with them, then this is the place for you! Apparently going on vacation means that your order is suspended until that person gets back from vacation, and not, "let me forward your order on to someone who is actually working when I'm on vacation." Sure they have a fairly wide selection, but good luck dealing with these folks once you've made your decision and want to do something as silly as place your order over the phone and not have to drive down to the warehouse on a busy weekday. Three weeks after initially contacting them about trying to place an order (via fax, email and phone), I found that my card was magically charged without so much as an email confirmation or phone call. I'm so happy that I found Tez Marble again! They used to be on High Street and moved here a year ago. They have a beautiful showroom, very helpful salesmen (Ozzie and Michael were so nice and attentive!) What I love the most is that they are a showroom and a wherehouse so it's very convenient for me to go on my own and chose what I want and have it put in my truck the same day. I actually read all the reviews for this place before visiting, I was lured by the extensive inventory and the great prices. If you believe the reviews, it's a no-frills place top get tile or stone, but not so hot on customer service. My experience couldn't have been any more different. I am remodeling my bathroom, going from a hideous 80s tile to new natural stone. I visited 3 times when deciding what to get (and confirming with my girlfriend) and each time they were helpful and spent time going over options/prices. Michael helped my, but Chris was also helpful when I had questions and Michael was busy. I ended up settling on an exceptional travertine tile at $2/sq ft. At first I thought that there might be some breakage so I made sure I could bring back whatever was broken, but it turned out there was very little. The place is a little hard to find, it's on a dead-end street right off High (behind that big Shell) In fairness I would give 4.5 because I reserve 5 for places that blow me out of the water, but I feel like some of the other reviews on Tez are a little harsh/unrealistic, and I really like this place. Hidden unless you're looking for it...parking is right in front...tonsssss of selections for stones and tiles...ranging in prices, styles and colors...and everything was displayed so you did not have to "search" for it...we have been looking everywhere around the Bay Area, going to every stone place possible to find the perfect slabs for our kitchen...and we only knew to come here because we saw it off the 880 freeway We walked in and was greeted by Michael...he showed us all the slabs in the warehouse...we fell in love with a dolomite slab but had no clue what it was...Michael was knowledgeable and friendly when he was explaining the differences between the types of stones and how they compare...he even had all the slabs brought out so we could compare them all side by side...needless to say, we walked out feeling accomplished since we've been looking for months We had to have them keep the slabs for a few months due to delays on our end with the progress of the renovation and they did not have a problem at all Now that the kitchen countertops went in, we went back for backsplash and within minutes, Michael helped us complete the task and we were done! I don't know how this place is rated so high. It must be for the selection. I'm here for the second time in a week and the customer service (lack of) is appalling. There are three employees in the showroom currently. One greeted me up on entering. She asked if I'd been here before for which I replied yes, the man walking in behind me Said no so she helped him. I told her I do have some questions so if she could come help me when she finished locating his five pieces of tile and she said she would. Two customers, three showroom employees and I've been waiting nearly 30 minutes to ask my question. I came here last weekend and had a unpleasant experience. The man that greeted me was aggressive and made it clear that he was trying to mark us as his customer. He wasn't helpful after showing us the slabs, he went back to the showroom. I even mentioned I would to have the slabs moved to look at and he didn't offer to have them moved until we were walking out the door. The guy to move the slabs had been sitting in a chair playing video games. One star for the great selection but honestly you can go elsewhere and find better pricing and service. read more

I went to Tez Marble to purchase my counter top slabs because they have a huge selection of tile and stone.The purchase process was easy, You can spend time in the showroom and they provide assistance when you need it - making recommendations, etc. . After the counter tops were installed, I noticed a problem with one of the sections. I called the store and told Michael about it. Without hesitation he sent the fabricator back out to look at the problem. The fabricator Jose, came out and worked tirelessly to fix the problem even though it was largely due to the cabinet installation. They did what it took to make me happy. read more

I've been coming to Tez Marble for the last couple of years. As a real estate investor, I go there every few months to buy tile, trim, and accent pieces. The selection is quite large, and the quality and variety of stone, in particular, is impressive. It's always easy to find what I'm looking for due to the store's intuitive layout. Ordering is also a cinch. I'm usually in and out of the place after a few minutes. I usually end up being helped by Michael, who is always welcoming and very knowledgeable about the materials he's selling. Gizem has also helped me before. She is very professional and always has a smile on her face. Even the guys who work moving the tile are friendly and accommodating. They will open up boxes so you can check your purchase, and if you need help they will drop whatever they're doing to lend you a hand. It can be difficult to find a tile store that has (a) a good selection, (b) reasonable prices, and (c) friendly & knowledgeable staff, but this place fits the bill. I really can not think of anything negative to say about Tez. I will continue coming here in the future, and highly recommend Tez Marble. read more

We bought a beautiful slab of green quartzite that we love from Tez. We had spent many hours of looking for quartzite and granite slabs in other Bay Area stores before going to Tez for the first time. We immediately spotted a slab of quartzite that was unlike anything we had seen in other stores. Sales Manager Michael Demordaunt had the slab moved so we could see it better and we knew it was what we wanted. Michel gave us a very good price for the stone and fabrication then held the slab for us until we were ready to have it cut and installed. Tez's fabricator, Euro Marble & Granite worked with us to determine the best way to cut the slab. They were prompt in making the templates, cutting and installing the countertops for our bathrooms. We are very happy with the experience and the finished countertops. We would definitely shop at Tez Marble again when we renovate our kitchen. I found a tile that I wanted and there were only a few places that had it. I went with Tez Marble in Burlingame and was very disappointed in service. I wasted months waiting for my order that they told me they put in and ended up cancelling after wasting my time in the middle of my remodeling project. poor quality control - we spent $2000 on marble tile from them (5-10 per square foot). Before placing our order they told us we could inspect all the tile when we came to pick it up. After paying in full, when we went to pick up the tile they told us that it came in bundles of 8 tiles and we could only inspect the unwrapped bundles, exposing only parts of 2/3 of the tile. They brought the tile to the truck and the employees grumbled and complained when I said I wanted to inspect each unwrapped bundle. They were too busy unloading a truck, and acted as though I was a high maintainence b*tch. If they had paid that much for tile or anything else, I am sure they would have wanted to inspect it too, especially since there are no returns. We got it home and opened the bundles and 15-20% are unusable. Some tiles had big cracks through them and had been glued back together. Some had air bubbles from when the stone formed, creating a hole that you could see through in the center of the tile. Some of them had cutting marks in the tile face, permanent deep scratches and at least one tile face had been polished on half the tile while the other half was unpolished. What the heck?! never again! read more
