I ordered four individual packages of braiding hair and only received one package. What makes this even more frustrating is that the invoice clearly states "4 of 4," which indicates that all four items were supposed to be included in that shipment. I am very disappointed with this experience. I attempted to contact customer service by both email and phone call, and no one ever responded. At this point, I will never order anything from this company again because these shipping practices seem very shady and unprofessional. Do with my review as you may, but customers deserve better communication, accountability, and honesty when spending their money. read more

Tae helped me and was wearing the style I was looking for. He recommended several product types and styling options that could help me achieve it. Honestly, if I could give it zero stars, I would it really sucks because I've been to this place numerous times and never had a bad experience until yesterday. I went there to get a hair dye and probably a couple other things I pulled up in my parking spot. There was a lady sitting in her car next to me just sitting there didn't think nothing of it. I walked in, went to the hair dye section started trying to pick out which guy I wanted. I was doing my hair as I always do it black with red streaks so I was looking at the reds to see which one was gonna work best for me. I wasn't in the store for five minutes. I had a bottle of dye in my hand, I reached in my purse to get my glasses because I am let's say very matured age wise and my site is not as good as it used to be. Put my glasses on my face and started reading the die bottle again didn't have my glasses on my face for a minute the lady that was sitting in the car next to me, comes rushing in the store with her phone in her hand and rushes up on me with severe urgency, almost bumping into me actually. She asked me did you have a question about the guy I was confused because I hadn't said anything to anyone since I walked into the store, but I actually did have a question since this particular guy was different than anything I've used before so I asked her if I needed to mix developer with it. She did not answer my question. She just said ,"well what about the one that's in your purse?" I had to ask her again what she said because I wasn't sure I was hearing her properly but again she said well you put a dye in your purse. I said no ma'am I did not. I have money. I'm here to buy not steel and she just kept looking at her phone. I handed her my purse. I said you're welcome to dump it out. Go through whatever you need to do pat me down and she didn't say another word didn't take my purse, she just walks through the store talks to the cashier starts walking back towards me turns around again walks outside. I had no clue what was going on, but I was super pissed off because how dare she!! I then went and put the purse on the counter for them to look through or whatever they want to do. I was not quiet. I was the whole time telling the cashier and yelling towards the lady that now was outside that I had no reason to take anything. I had had a horrible day at that point, I was very angry and I used some not so lady like words. I kept talking to the lady behind the counter the cashier and again I had no clue what was going on neither did she she had no clue what her bosses intentions were so she says so I continued looking for what I came there for and I asked her when she's done figuring out what she's gonna do and y'all realize I didn't steal anything. Can I please buy these things and I set two items on the counter. I was there for what feel like forever and I never saw the lady that confronted me again apparently she just got in her car and left no apologies. No nothing. I am older as I said I have lots of tattoos, including on my face, I'm white and I've lived a very full life. I understand that there's all kinds of stuff going on in the retail industry with all the group, thefts, etc. But I honestly don't think it was about that. I feel that due to my race and appearance she targeted me. I've been thinking about this all night and decided to post a review today and I never do this because as I said, the worst part, she didn't even apologize. Nothing I've never had something happen like that to me in my life. When I left there, it was funny because I received a text saying that yesterday was the anniversary of when I first signed up for the rewards program (three years ago ) and I received a five dollar off coupon. it's very unfortunate that I will not be using this coupon nor will I be going back to the establishment again. I've never had a bad experience with them all of the cashiers, etc. have been very helpful friendly , until yesterday again I think that this woman was the owner or the manager. I don't know she was somebody of importance, to them anyway. It's a damn shame this day and age people do not know how to behave properly in public, they have no social skills whatsoever. To the woman who approached me yesterday I hope you have the days and the life. You deserve. Learn how to deal with people approach people whatever it is you gotta do. I myself have worked in the retail industry for over 30 years. I'm not saying the customer is always right because there are some real shit customers what I am saying is that if you are a business owner and behave that way you have no business doing what you do. And if you are the manager of the establishment, the owner really needs to check on who he or she puts in charge. read more

I've been meaning to do this review for a while now, as I frequent this establishment. I feel as if I fell in love with them during the pandemic. Not only are they Black Owned and operated, but they really exceeded in customer service by doing house deliveries and all. Here we are over a a year later and this is still my go to beauty supply! They have a huge variety of products such as braiding hair, wigs, make up, natural hair products, etc!! Truly a one stop shop. I've bought a little bit of everything from here. When I go in, I'm always greeted and that's a plus! If you need help or have questions, worry not, as the staff is very knowledgeable. I work by 4 different beauty supplies within a one mile radius but will still hurry over to Carson just to support them and have a pleasant experience. I think that speaks volumes! I discovered Textured Tech during the pandemic and ordered from them regularly. I finally made it down to Carson to visit in person and this is probably one of the largest and most organized beauty supply stores I've ever visited. The flow made sense and it was easy to find exactly what I was looking for. In fact, I probably bought extra stuff because everything was so easy to find. I didn't need too much help, but the woman at the counter was very friendly. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. If you have to order something the shipping is pretty quick I remember my order would be shipped no later than the next day after I ordered. read more

They have all kinds of braiding hair, crotchet hair, wigs, hair accessories, etc. It literally gives me the same fill as Target (lol) in the sense of you going in for ONE thing and coming out with more! Both times this happened to me, lol. I appreciate that it's female ran and black owned. I like that the prices are reasonable as well. I was able to meet the owner on my first visit and have been helped by Ari on both visits. Ari is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about products in store. I was surprised that ALL SALES ARE FINAL so you have to make sure what you get is what you want... but it's still a really good establishment. WOULD I RECOMMEND? WOULD I RETURN? They have a rewards system and I also like that they are opened everyday (including weekends) and close a bit later than other beauty supplies - which is super helpful! I've been to this beauty supply store several times since it was open. I gotta say, I'm never dissapointed! Even when they are out of something or don't carry a product im looking for, the customer service is always up to par and they are very sincere about the situation. I really like that. I also love that it's black owned and when I walk in I see sistas and brothas who look like me! I was thrilled to find out this beauty supply opened in the neighborhood. They carry a range of hair items, some cosmetics and jewelry. The store is neatly arranged and spacious. This place even sticks Rasta braid hair in jumbo packs and ombré colors which many people seem to have a hard time finding. Con: Unfortunately, several hair products are at least $2 more than other beauty supplies. Looks like I'll be coming here for braid hair when in need. read more

I've been going to a different BSS store for years (rhymes with "Ronny's", who I reviewed here on Yelp in 2016). I had no idea that there was a Black owned one nearby. I'm SO glad I found them! I needed braiding hair, but also was looking around for other things...everyone I encountered was super friendly, patient, and helpful. The employee (I wish I could remember her name) even helped me go out into the sunlight and pick the color of braiding hair closest to my own color. Textured Tech is much larger, brighter, and well organized than "Ronny's". They also have a large selection of popular hair products for naturals, including one of my favorites, Qhemet Biologics! I'm also really excited that they do online orders, so now I don't have to drive to Carson the day before my appointment just to get the braiding hair, and then back again the next day for the actual appointment (it always begins at 9:00 a.m., an hour before "Ronny's" opens). read more

I was greeted when I entered which was different from my previous visit and I was assisted in finding what I needed. A young lady even walked me through their enrollment and loyalty program process. I typically order from Amazon due to COVID and convenience however I decided that I wanted to support more businesses owned/operated by black women. I called prior to my arrival to confirm they had the product I was looking for. I needed white temporary color wax to transform my daughter into Storm for the 25th Day of School super hero day. The young lady that answered the phone confirmed they had the product but couldn't tell me the exact price because they had a line of customers. I arrived. I was never greeted. I was never asked if I needed help. I was never acknowledged. When I found the color wax section on my own I didn't immediately recognize that they had white. I asked the young lady did they have white wax? I then observed that she was watching something intently on a laptop and appeared annoyed that I spoke to her at all. She stated, "right there". She then focused back on her laptop. Another customer came in subsequently after. The young lady got up from her chair and asked the woman. "Can I help you?", "What are you looking for today?". The lady explained she was looking for color because she wants to dye her hair. She was escorted directly over to the section where they sold hair color. She was even told about the different sections in the store including the back section where they sold hair. I'm uncertain as to why there was just a significant difference in the level of customer service but it was completely unacceptable and I won't be returning. Even upon checking out they asked if I wanted to join their program. No explanation as to the "program". I declined. read more

I can no longer support this business. All sales are FINAL. I need to be able to exchange a product if I accidentally pick up a product that I don't need OR exchange a pack of hair I don't need because my stylist didn't use all of it. I'm tired of having a bin full of mix & match hair packs. Here's the backstory - Last week, I was rushing, from work, to get to this beauty supply before it closed. Unfortunately I get a phone call, that I've been waiting on all day, right when I'm shopping. This call distracted me and I picked up the wrong hair care product. I called to see if I can exchange the product and I couldn't. Now I'm stuck with a $14 product I don't even use. I've spent a ton of money here & I love how they reward you with loyalty points! The selection is amazing & I love that it's black owned but the customer service was lacking today! Whoever the receptionist was had very lackluster energy when it came to helping me and she almost seemed annoyed that I was even there! Yay for another black owned beauty supply! They have a great selection. They have a lot of makeup as well as a great selection of braiding hair and extensions. The stylist will be doing classes so I signed up to get notified.
