The women who work here are very kind, sweet, patient, and knowledgeable. They made my wig shopping experience very easy and quick. Not to mention the prices are very resonable.

Brought my mom in for a wig. Wig was trimmed to satisfy my mom's style at no extra cost. Great service and selection.

I have been to ten wig stores with my mother, I should have listened to her , she mentioned this store on our last trip to Southern California.

A very confusing and disappointing experience overall. While I came to the shop during business…read morehours, the store was closed and a sign said to call for an appointment. I immediately called thinking I may need to return on a different day; however, the owner stated she would be able to meet as she was in the vicinity. When she arrived, we entered the store and I was asked to sit in a chair while she looked around for hair pieces and toppers because I was not looking for a full wig. She spent the majority of the time rummaging around the shop and pulling things out of boxes, and finally found one hair piece that matches my hair color and brought out two others where the color was not even close. She then proceeded to put the one hair piece on me. Even though the color was a good match, it was not what I was looking for. She then went to the opposite side of the room and started to style this one hair piece. Not sure what to expect next, I waited for her, but she continued to style it. I had to go over to where she was sitting and asked if she had other pieces in the same color. She then pulled out another which may work if the circumference of my head were bigger. There was not much talking while all of this was taking place, so I assumed she does not have anything else in stock and asked about the store's policy on ordering hair pieces and how long the process might take. She was not able to give a concrete answer to that question either. So due to limited stock on-hand, and no helpful information to share at that moment, I told her I would come back another time. She immediately told me I owed a $30 "consultation fee" which totally took me off-guard. Nowhere from the beginning with our initial telephone conversation to the time I'd spent in the shop, was this mentioned. Additionally, I would hardly call what took place there a "consultation" as she probably said 4-5 sentences to me in the entire time I was there. I'm not opposed to paying if I did receive helpful information or if she had spent time with me trying on various pieces, but no such service was received nor expertise. I read her other reviews and do not doubt that she can be helpful, empathetic, and is knowledgeable about her craft with other customers. For what I received, I would hardly consider a "consultation" and though she waived the fee when I pointed this out, I was asked to not come back again. Similar to another customer's experience with this establishment, I was appalled and could not leave quickly enough.

I'd been with Young Rhee, owner-operator of Del Amo Wigs, about 15 yrs. Years ago I gave her rave…read more5-star review. Recent experience made me knock off 2 stars. I have a small head so I routinely get my wigs resized and thinned to look more natural. But I just learned Young can't handle modern styles. Then I realized throughout our 15-year history her clientele seemed to comprise only middle-aged and older women--including me. She did a beautiful job on my new Ellen Wille Bliss wig, which has small area of spikiness. I get lots of compliments from women AND men. Lots of "That doesn't look like a wig!" But when I picked up the wig, after Young thinned and resized it she said it was "too hard" and she'd never again work on a wig of that type. I'm African American woman in search of new stylist who's good with short-hair wigs.

The abundance of beauty supply stores across cities all over this country verifies 1 very important…read morething amongst all women regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, all other identifiers of humanity in the world. Our hair and the presentation of it is our universal golden secret to who we are and our inalienable right to autonomy over our bodies. It's the one self expression that is specifically unique in how we choose to "show up" everyday in a world that picks and chooses who is accepted or not. Our hair is what makes us feel brand new and the allows spectators the opportunity to marvel and wonder about who we are and what stories we have hidden in our hearts. The beauty supplies stores across cities is essential in making our wildest dreams of who we are or want to be come true! It is the epicenter of cosmetic power and magic! It's where we marvel, imagine, and dream of continuing, improving, or re-designing the crown given to us in an effort to shine brighter! The beauty supply stores across cities is our hub and it is imperative the hub maintains a decorum of welcoming everybody, helping anybody, and be just in its economical value to not just one somebody but all people who cross its threshold. Especially now, as we have all been impacted by an oligarchy improperly placed in the land of the free and home of the brave...how dare it raise its ugly head in this local beauty shop store. A good friend of mine, after utilizing her Inspector Gadget research skills to locate the perfect new texture, color, and style of hair to re-do her braids, found this specific supply store in her neighborhood. Loving the location and the fact they had the hair she needed was a delight and excitement as she was preparing for a lovely Valentine's/Presidents Day weekend! She just knew everything was falling into alignment. She entered the store, easily found everything she she needed, and due to her research, knew exactly how much her items would cost; taxes and everything included. The clerk rang her up and as my dear friend was just about to go on about her lovely Friday evening, she stopped and look at her receipt in hopes to celebrate how spot on her math would be. But unfortunately, she was stopped in her tracks as she noticed an exuberant additional amount charged over her own calculations. $60 worth of odd charges. She had a "things that make you go hmmm..." moment. My dear friend inquired about the additional charges and was met with what seemed to be "I'mma make some bs up so this lady will get out of my face" energy. My dear friend did not like this and asked for the manager and the clerk responded the manager was busy. Friend asked for the manager's name and the clerk gave it and it was the name of the clerk. Friend asked "Is that you??" The clerk responded "Yes." Friends' mind was blown and her annoyance grew. Friend asked for an explanation of the charges and like most businesses that attempt to take advantage of customers, when it got down to the core of it, the manager couldn't explain the charges and offered a refund to her debit card which would take 7-10 business days. My friend wasn't buying it, demanded an immediate cash refund of the over charges and wasn't leaving until she received it. I don't blame her at all. If you knew my dear friend, you would agree she is a lovely person and definitely not the person to play, scam, lie, cheat, or steal from. It would not be wise. Eventually the "clerk/manager/I accidentally over charged you $60 for some hair" came to her senses and refunded Friend in cash and all was calm. In a time when everyones money has an assignment and very few of us can enjoy luxury let alone have spare time and change to beautify ourselves, the last thing we need in a place as sacred as the beauty supply store, is the mindset and ill-political strategies of "wanna-be" oligarchs. This really ain't the time to be messing with anyone, especially women when it's time to get our hair done. This business needs to do better and realize many of us ain't too busy or distracted to read our receipts. This is a warning to them to stop pressing your luck. We're entering a time when buyers are not afraid to report you for fraud. Thank you for coming to my TEDTALK.
