#6/25 reviews for 2025!!! I love going to the thrift store for many reasons and Texas Thrift is conveniently located for me. I been shopping here since like waaaay back in 2013? Yeah so anyways, I have noticed a change recently on the layout of the store and its not just this location but the one located in Hurst as well. Once upon a time there use to be dressing rooms where you can go and try stuff on before buying, nope, they took them out. At one point you could go back and return items within 25 days ,maybe 20, for exchanges only. Now all sales are final no matter what. What I dislike the most is that they took away the cashiers and have self check out. It sounds great but its not because an employee still has to assist you and scan the items for you before paying plus when I go they only have or two registers open at the most. At one point they would give you a 25% off coupon on your purchase if you bring a bag of items to donate to them. They did away with that a looong time ago sadly, also a long time ago they would organize their T-shirts by color so it was super easy to look for certain shirts- nope- cant do that anymore. The changes that I do like is that they have re-arranged the sections, at the front where the registers are is where the books and photo albums are. Before thats where the toys use to be and parents waiting in line would let their kids just play with the toys and cause a mess. I like how they have move the toys to the back back of the store. The price tags are easier to read and look more organize, before they were all hand written and the cashier had to type it in. I like that they have still keep the discount on certain color tags for certain days of the week. This helps rotate inventory and makes getting a bargain even better. Compare to other store they are pretty clean in terms of items and store. The prices have gone up over the years and some of the prices are close to retail price instead of second hand. I have found some real gems in there like a vintage sewing machine that I would have loved to keep but could not bring myself to buy it because it looked like it could need repairs. Previous before the renovation they would keep "high ticket items" behind the counter like designer handbags but now they are out in the open floor. I think this is a good change because customers can see and feel the quality of the bags without having to find an employee to help them. read more

This location tends to be very packed especially on the weekends. The aisle are a little hard to navigate you basically barely fit one cart through them and you're still squeezing. One thing I like about this chain is they usually have 3-4 discount colors every day, however I did notice the prices seem a bit too high for regular second hand clothing that's not even designer. read more

IT HAS CHANGED, DON'T COME HERE! I regularly visit thrift stores and Habitat ReStore locations in search of antiques and period fixtures for my home. Unfortunately, this location has gone downhill since a recent management change. Prices have nearly tripled, the selection is terrible, and to top it off, they charged my credit card twice. Now I have to dispute the charge with my bank, because the front desk staff claimed they can't issue refunds--even when it's their mistake. read more

I've passed by this place many times. I've always wondered what it was like in there. Well, there's a lot inside! Shoes, purses, clothes etc, etc. It's huge inside and customers purchase in large quantities. I went on Black Friday though. The lines were long but they in one single file line. Lol. People were really nice saying excuse me. The Cashier's were nice. They were ready to make a sale and check us out quickly. If your Arlington check it out some time. read more

I found this gem through word of mouth--I love a good thrift! This was my first time at this location, and it didn't fully disappoint. The store is huge and offers a wide range of items if you're willing to dig a bit. Pricing is slightly high, and the color tag discounts don't add much value, as it's almost impossible to find items with tags that are actually on sale. One drawback is no fitting rooms. For true thrifters, you do what you have to, but it's not ideal when the store is crowded. I'm also not a fan of the self-checkout setup. The point of self-checkout is convenience, but here, employees "assist" by standing at self checkout, taking items from you to scan, only for you to bag them yourself--feels unnecessary. This is a great location. I really like this place since the items that are displayed on shells are really organized. They are organized by color instead of by size but of course everything is by type as well. I was able to find plenty of shirts that I like and some shorts as well. This place mostly has clothing items and maybe three rolls of other items such as furniture or suitcases or Housewares. read more

I have shopped here for many years but will no longer shop here. Tonight they were so rude! Did not make an announcement like they normally do about store closing being your items up front. Instead the employees went by each row telling the customers "hey you! We're closed!" We said ok and proceeded to start walking to the front. Since we were in the back of the store another employee yelled at us to go up front. They are closed! We told her yes we are walking up front already! Left without buying anything. This is a big store with lots to see. It is organized by sizes, which is helpful. The shoes are on the tip racks throughout the store. Hard to shop this way and random sizes everywhere. The shoes are way over priced, between $10 - $30 for used shoes. Pricing, in general, seemed high. It's definitely a worthy stop. Just be aware of fair pricing. read more

As an avid thrifter and seeker of unknown possibilities, I really appreciate any quality secondhand store. As an eco-conscious consumer, I love these concepts even more so and will always support them. Texas Thrift is a gem in any community they're in, even though they may not have the best outright price when there's no discount applied. I highly recommend coming only when they offer their usual half off sales which corresponds to many national holidays. 50% almost everything or most things depending on the day can really help save you even more money; what's to complain about? During this pandemic though, I would bring a K95 or N95 if you got one and maybe wear gloves if you are squeamish about the germs, but I still think thrifting is 100% worth if you are smart about it. Respect other's spaces and bring hand sanitizer (they usually have a big one by each register) and you should be gucci. Always plenty of parking and extra good karma points if you bring your own reusable shopping bag (I bring 2-4 if I know I'm going ham...)! Ok I use to love Texas thrift, shopping here at least 3 times a week when they had great deals. Now it grossly over priced and most of the managing staff is rude when you ask them anything, and if they do give you an answer to your questions it like they are annoyed that you even asked them. I found a dress that was 10 dollars and some change at Walmart and Texas Thrift was asking $13.98. When they have their color tags of the week it's gotten harder to find items with the tags that are on sale for that week. It sad to see what was once a great place change so much. I will say that there is one lady who works the cash registers the morning shift who is always so friendly and takes the time greet every one who comes in the door and let customers know the what tags are on sale for the week. Okay yes, I agree with my fellow Yelpers that TX Thrift is indeed large, has a pretty stellar variety of items, and is pretty damn clean compared to most secondhand shops. But the prices... they are definitely not what I'd consider true "thrift" store prices. The stuff here is expensive, you guys. When you first walk in you'll see the seasonal section which is great, gotta love Christmas decor no matter the decade of its creation, as long as its clean and whole! There were two Christmas wreaths that caught my eye, but one was $24 and one was $39! Seriously, for used wreaths that aren't pre-lit or even necessarily nice. I know wreaths are expensive in general but these are not bargain prices. In the middle of TX Thrift are rows and rows AND ROWS of clothes for every age and occasion. I saw a pretty cute sweater from Kohl's that seemed to be in relatively good condition, but it was $13. A new top from Walmart is cheaper (or close). And I know I can find a brand new sweater for $15-$20 on Amazon because I do it all the time. Some of the clothes here did have (my definition) of "thrift" prices, but they were mostly seriously well-worn and seriously outdated articles. There are tons of shoes along the top of each row of clothes. I saw a cute pair of wedges but they were $16. A little high for not-new shoes... what do you think? Along the sides of the store are the home-goods, furniture, appliances, and accessories. Everything is spaced out nicely so it doesn't get too crowded in here. It's nice to see a thrift shop that actually seems well organized and clean! I think I might stop by here on occasion in the future if I'm in need of some costume pieces or discount retro wine glasses. You can definitely find some trinkets and treasures. But if you're looking for just everyday life kind of stuff, I think I'll skip this spot and stick with my bargain Amazon orders. read more

Way too expensive for used clothing. Shirts are around 10 dollars plus, men's and women's shoes are 30 bucks or more and pants are in the 20 dollar range. The clothing and shoes are not even in good condition for this pricing. Ridiculous prices for donated clothes. Special tags are only 30 and 50% off and they are hard to find. Cashier erica is the most unpleasant person I have ever encountered. She is very aggressive and unprofessional. She threw ceramic items into my bag and became enraged when I told her I would be wrapping the rest of the delicate items I had. This person should not be interacting with paying customers this way or anyone. Her and her personality are ugly in the inside and out. read more

This is one of the most expensive, crappiest thrift stores I've ever been in. It looks huge from the outside and I was excited to get my thrifting on until I went I side. Their prices were equal to, if not more expensive than retail (at least the hard goods were). I didn't even bother to look at the clothing since everything I looked at was ridiculously priced. I have been to most thrift stores in North and South Arlington and this one is by far the most ridiculously priced especially for clothing that you can't try on. You can return clothing but only if you exchange it for more clothing. Who has time to go back and forth until you find something that fits? Who prices these items? I saw several pairs of pants that were priced $25, not name brand. If someone wants to pay that much for an item they will go to a department store and buy brand new! I thrift as an hobby. On my day off I thrift, when I need inspiration I thrift. There are just some things you can't get anymore in high end clothing stores because they're so fashion forward. Sometimes I just want to go backwards. It's very affordable, to make it even worth it I normally come only when they have major events that take 50% off. A DKNY jacket that will fulfill my clueless dreams for $10 will slice in half to $5. It's a bit crowded and messy. I've been to more organized thrifts with friendlier staff, but no other thrift gets stuff like they do. When I'm not dressed professionally, majority of my casual outfits are from here. Rule of thumbs when it's your first time thrifting, be open minded. I came to a thrift store with a ex before he was an ex. He didn't like the idea of thrifting because it was "dirty". Sure it might be ... Because they actually don't wash the clothes before you buy it, but you can go do that yourself. I personally look at it this way. I don't care if the clothes I'm wearing belonged to someone who died in it or who didn't. It's nice to know that clothes travel with people too. From a person to another person. Blah...... oh.... and gross. What is up with this place? First, like Michie W. stated, this place is a huge room of mirrors (see pic). Ceiling (in some parts), walls, register and columns. It is THE MOST funhouse experience / feeling I've ever had in a Thrift Store (period). If that isn't weird enough, there are sections of the store that are wallpapered like a day care center, the floor is either hardwood or about three different types of carpet (four if you count duct tape), and there are leftover neon lights running the sides of the wall (if they're not missing). Wait... there's more. The place looks like an absolute mess (racks, shelves, everything), some of the merchandise looks like junk, there are only 3 dressing rooms for the whole store (so we had to wait in line), and (when we were there) there was only one cashier and a huge line of people waiting to check out. People watching, Yes. Heck, this African guy (not black, African) came up to me and asked me how he could alter a belt so it would fit him better. "Excuse me, should I cut it? Do you think it would work if I cut it here?" Umm... no. (WTH, do I have crazy person magnet on me this Sunday? This is the 2nd person to come up to me that day and act strange. Like any thrift store, you never know what you will find. The place is huge. They are constantly running daily specials. The only department that is lacking is the kids toy section. Mostly broken pieces of crap. And the only non broken decent dolls are priced almost at retail. Otherwise the clothing prices are thrift store prices. Yes this place is organized, clean, has good prices, and is an above average THRIFT store. Let me refute the complaints you commonly see listed. It is organized as well as any thrift store. It is not a resale or antique store. Have you ever shopped the disfunction of Goodwill, Thrift Giant, or St. Vincent de Paul? I saw someone post about sizing the shoes. Are you out of your mind? Go to Target on the weekends and look at their shoe aisles, customers destroy them and it takes hours to fix. That is such a stupid, unreasonable request. It is as clean as any thrift store can be. They can't wash the clothes because that would take a lot of time and cost a lot of money. It is very high traffic and high volume location, and yet I rarely see dirt or dust bunnies on the ground. It is really impressive considering what they are working with. You want the gold standard? Go to Genesis in Dallas. It is very clean, and usually twice the price. Even comparing the prices to other Texas Thrift locations, this one has some of the best prices. I bought two shirts at the Irving location for $9 recently. Two days before I bought four shirts for about $10 at the Arlington location. I constantly find vintage shirts in good condition for $1 to $3. I even found Versace denim jeans for $5. Let me remind everyone you are thrifting. This is bargain shopping. Maybe have reasonable expectations. read more

Two stars for size, generally clean, happy people. Sizing organization on clothing rough at best. The big burr for me was when I came in at 7:50 pm to shop at a cooler time they announced "fitting rooms will be closing in 5 minutes. I came this late because they are" open "till 9 pm. Closing the fitting rooms here is like a restaurant" closing @ 10 but the kitchen closes @ 9. I don't know the management / owner situation at this store but this message is for you. Close everything in the store at THE SAME TIME. I've got a bad taste in my mouth from this experience, moves me to make chances in my choices. read more

I have been to going to Texas Thirty in Arlington for years never have I seen a manager walk a customer out for trying on clothing. I am sure the lady that was trying on the bras was trying to see if they will fit. One of the employee went and got the manager. Mind you the customer was in the back corner of the store where there was no traffic of customers. There was a lady hold up a blanket where the traffic of customer would be. When the manager approach he customer she was very irate and spoke to the older lady as if though she was a child. The manager "stated to the customer this is a public place where children and men are." Mind you the area where the woman was there was no traffic. The customer apologize and never talked back to the manager. I heard the customer say "I was not trying to disrespect your store." The manager reply "no you disrespected yourself." The customer never said a word, but the manager kept getting louder, and was being totally unprofessional and very disrespectful. I feel that the manager was abusing her power. I feel she could have given the customer a warning instead of walking her out the store!!!! The prices are ridiculously, especially for clothing that you can't try on. You can return clothing but only if you exchange it for more clothing. Just maybe the woman wanted to make sure everything fix. Who has time to go back and forth until you find something that fits? I enjoy shopping at thrift stores and the eternal search for great bargains. Wish I could give half stars because this place deserves more than three but not quite four stars... for clothes this place is pretty great, for houseware and furniture stuff though it is severely lacking. Okay, I'm cracking up reading Russell R's review! The reason this place looks so strange is that it used to be a Gold's Gym at one point. There was a running track upstairs, the current Men's clothing area used to be the aerobics room, and everything is covered in mirror. The funny thing is that this isn't the only thrift store in Arlington that used to be a gym. For more of this, try Arlington Resale on Little and I-20. Anyways, back to TX Thrift. It's not really worth stopping in unless you are already next door at Big Lots or at the Half Price Books around the corner because this store is really unorganized. I haven't found many treasures here in the clothes department but a little digging can reveal some decent housewares or books, and unfortunately there isn't any furniture. The prices are cheap nonetheless and there is a Goodwill nearby at Cooper and Arkansas that has a much better clothing selection, just priced a little higher. read more

I went once before a while back and it was kinda bare. I don't know when it changed but it's a whole different place now. The interior resembles a disco. Anyway, a whole lotta selection (organized by color and size, oh yes). A wide selection of bags and also home goods. One of the better thrift stores I've been too. read more

This is one of the better thrift stores because it is so large and has sales every week and on every major holiday. Some sections are more appealing than others but I always come out with a ton of stuff. Some of the issues are that while some employees are really nice others really aren't, the carts cannot be taken out of the building so bringing your purchase to the car is difficult if you buy more than a handful of items and it is not the cleanest. They do have a really large selection of clothes and purses. The housewares section is usually picked over and they don't have many good electronics but they have a lot of books and media. Prices are good on sale days but everyone goes then so it is crowded. They used to have fitting rooms but thanks to Covid they seem to have permanently closed them which I am not happy about. I refuse to buy clothes if I cannot try them on or return them if they don't fit so lately half the store has been out of bounds for me but it still takes me a while to look through everything else. They do have a very large bedding section with tons of sheets, blankets, comforters, pillows tablecloths and even placemats to choose from. The location and parking situation are more than adequate and I have never had any trouble buying something in the store because they will price it at the register if you find something with no tag. That is a good policy which I appreciate. Overall I would recommend this thrift store over others since none are truly great but this is about as good as they get. read more

All thrift store enthusiasts in and around the Arlington area must visit Texas Thrift. Good prices, some quality vintage clothing, and occasionally some nice furniture and other home items. It takes some getting used to, and prepare to spend hours looking through everything, but if you're a seasoned thrifter, make this a stop on your list. Yay! They have new dressing rooms- now much cleaner, with locks on the door, hooks to hang the clothes, a mirror, and a spacious room to change. Cons: There are still only 3 fitting rooms with a limit of 6 clothing items so you might have to wait a few minutes sometimes. They have sales each week- a certain color tag is half off and another certain color tag is 99 cents (but not sure if this 99 cents deal is every week or not). This is now my favorite go-to Arlington thrift store because the organization of the clothes makes it extremely easy to skim through the selection. At times the check-out line can get crazy long. It still has that oldish smell when you enter the store, but now I just look at that as part of the thrift-shopping experience. read more

Texas Thrift is a large, quirky thrift store in an old Gold's Gym, so the entire place is covered in mirrors and awkward heart beat pulses. It also means that the place smells kinda weird. Renovations happens frequently, but in a hodgepodge fashion. It's like they're replacing the flooring ten feet at a time with whatever happens to be around. It's is always crazy hot in here. The wouldn't call the staff rude, but they aren't particularly helpful or nice. Really, though. It's a thrift store. What help do you need or even want from an employee? The dressing rooms have no mirrors and they're just long curtains pulled across what look like bathroom stalls. Kinda awkward. The prices seem to fluctuate a lot. Sometimes items are a steal and other times they'll be really close to original price. There's usually a colored tag sale. A tag of that color will be 50% off that day. This can help bring some of their higher prices back to a reasonable number. The place is a mess. The other comment about it seemingly getting dirtier and more unorganized over the years is pretty spot on. Sections change whimsically, clothes are rarely labeled with the correct sizes anymore, obviously broken items for sale, etc. I mean, it's just really gonna take some digging to get something good. Once again, this is pretty common of most thrift stores. The reason this place is getting three stars and not two stars is a little bit of a double-edged sword. They will take and sell anything. I really mean anything. There's plastic cups from Fuzzy's for sale here. I swear they will wipe down and price every single thing that ends up in a donation bin. On the bad side, this means that legit items are often buried in a mountain of almost literal garbage. On the good side, this means that you can find things that you'd never expect to see in a thousand years. read more
