I was in the mood for a little retail therapy, and as I love to thrift shop, I stumbled upon this store--only to stumble right back out empty-handed. Chiiile, these prices were outrageous for a second-hand or consignment store, at least in my opinion. On a positive note, the store layout was impressively organized. I was greeted by one employee who kindly asked if I needed assistance, which was refreshing--especially since the rest of the staff didn't seem too interested in making eye contact, let alone speaking. Honestly, I used to love this store, but I have noticed it becoming more narrow to a particular demographic. They carry an abysmally small L & XL section compared to the bountiful S & XS section (probably because they are not buying L & XL sizes from people who bring them in - I've brought in tons of very gently used and sometimes new with tags larger sizes and they only bought 2 things in total from me). I also have received increasingly more snootiness from the people who work here - they are nice, but they have a lot of rules. The fact that you cannot return anything for anything but in-store credit, which makes sense for Goodwill, but not for these prices, and also that the rewards are only applied to other locations makes my experience feel less and less buyer-friendly - almost like I am supposed to feel privileged to get to shop at their store. If I'm going to pay this much for used clothes, I honestly might as well use ThredUp online and save myself the hassle. read more

The place is very cute and smells great. The clothes seem reasonably priced and theres a lot of variety. I might go back at a later time. However the only thing I wish was better was the customer service. Just didn't feel welcomed when I arrived. Was not greeted at the door, nor when I left, nor as I was walking around. They do not compensate well for new or gently used brand name clothing. They offered me $8 for a brand new swimsuit coverup with tag and a brand new Lilly Pulitzer swimsuit with tag. I am a clothes and shoe fanatic and I definitely know they are overpriced. For example, they sell dunks aka Jordan 1s for 90 dollars. Now depending on the style, they can depreciate quickly. And you can get a new pair for that amount. The little girl would not take my guess or puma shoes only bc they had a little dirt on them. I looked at her and all I could say to myself was you don't have a sense of fashion. I was quite appalled. I'm being insulted by a girl wearing a t-shirt twice her size. Also, if you sign up for a 5 star membership, you get discounts on top of their color stamped sales! It's a win! Treat yourself! Also, the team always has the store so well organized and are very helpful. I have always came here to sell my items and have had a horrible experience I dropped my clothes off earlier in the day around 11 or 12 the woman told me it would be 2 hour max wait to wait for my items out of store. I came back at 3:30 thinking my items will be ready I was told that there were 2 people ahead of me and that I would have to wait another 45 minutes make a long story short I leave the store and get a call 15 mins later stating my stuff if ready and now they can't take anything. The woman who called me was rude and cut me off as we were talking as well. So I went to pick up my stuff and I won't be coming back to this store. It is refreshing to not review a restaurant sometimes. I have been going to Uptown Cheapskate in Arlington since 2014. I usually see many more women in there than men, which is a shame because they have a wonderful selection of mens clothing, shoes and accessories. The biggest selling point for me are the jeans - you can easily get a pair of Lucky Brand Jeans for $25.00 or Levi's for $11. They only take exceptionally good conditioned name brand items, so it is all always in great shape. Nearly everything I have bought there over the years has received compliments. They also have really stylish ties and cologne. I have never felt like anything is overpriced, but that is all relative, I guess. Some downsides to Uptown are that the staff is pretty self absorbed. You generally have to seek them, and even waiting in line you have to prompt them to notice you. Additionally, I could imagine how the women's section is overwhelming to other reviewers - it is well organized but packed to the gills. A word of advice - selling things is quite like Pawn Stars; they are going to offer you a very minimal amount, BUT you cannot negotiate. Furthermore, they will reject much of what you take to them - that is to be expected. Today I took in 2 bags of things and 4 coats. They took maybe 1/3rd of it and offered me either $50 cash or $65 store credit. DON'T take stuff in because you need money - this isn't a pawn shop. Instead, take things when you want to shop there, accept store credit and what they don't accept should be donated to a good cause. You will look GREAT and feel good! If you feel your stuff is worth more, take the time and hard work to sell it individually online. I often visit the Richardson store and the Lewisville store, but I like this one best. Even if the staff is mostly composed of high school students, I never fail to get what I need. read more

They had a 5 star review from me, but they've turned their back. I ordered 7 items from their live story sale on Instagram and received an item that had a broken button. I immediately told them about the flaw and they said it was final sale and that was that. If they've taken any courses in business they know that customer service is key to continuing a good relationship with the customer, but I guess they forgot that part. I've only been once. I had a huge trash bag full of clothes, they did not buy anything. The young lady was so nice and explained if there was a slight smell. Lol Totally my fault . You see , I had them in my storage for awhile and with the recent rain and heat , also my storage closet does not close completely. I absolutely understood.She told me that was the only reason and to wash them and bring them back, because they will buy some of the clothes. She was very polite and I will come back, with them wash. Not with the smell of I've being in the rain and heat smell. Oops! I read the policy and it clearly says to please wash them because they don't do that. Even though I was not able to sale my clothes that day. I'll definitely try again. Once I wash them. I saw a review saying someone was treated rudely. Sounds like you just got mad , and because they didn't look at ever single item. So you think it's rude. If you had a resale shop as you said. I'm thinking you might have not been as busy as this store. All things to conceder. Just saying..... I had a great experience for my first time selling anything . They don't warn you that if you leave your clothes and choose to not wait in store, they'll do your clothes last. I waited 3 hours thinking they were working on mine just to be told that they work on in store drop offs first. Also, they want you to wait in store but there's no where to sit. I understand they want you to look around and buy more clothes but for the people who are just trying to sell their clothes, there should be at least ONE chair to wait. Places like this are always frustrating to sell too but this was my first and last time selling to Uptown. Such a waste of time. read more

The counter is way too cluttered and busy and because of the experience of now having one shoe misplaced after bringing my items in, I'm not likely to sell anything again. I'd rather be able to pull out my own items than to leave them randomly sitting on the side. Amanda spoke to me about my time not being placed back in my bag and explained that she along with management looked over the security video. It surprises me that they couldn't see the employee take my items out of the blue bag and then tie the one shoe up in a white plastic grocery bag which wasn't tied before. I don't feel comfortable to bring large amount of items to sell, if the associate isn't going to keep up with the items brought in. Management never reached out to me and made no effort to suggest anything, offer anything fo me as a customer. Weird that a brightly colored shoe can't be seen nor found on video, but was clearly moved from my blue ones bag to a white plastic grocery bag and then said bag was tied and knotted placed back in the blue ikea bag. Went in as a seller. Got there as soon as they opened 12pm on a Sunday. When I asked how long the wait was, I was told that it would be quicker if I waited in the store than if I were to leave. I opted to leave and run errands because I didn't have interest in buying anything and I figured it would take 1-2hours max. It's 4pm and no phone call. They close at 6. I get there and ask about my items. I'm told they have not gone through them yet but if I stay they'll do them now. So I stay because it's 4:30 at this point and I'm ready to go home but have to pick up my items by 6:00pm to get any cash that may be offered. I wait another 35mins. Take my cash, items and dip. It shouldn't have taken the entire operating store hours... So just a heads up--unless you plan on physically waiting inside the store, they won't go through your items until it gets down to the last hour of store closing time. In comparison to platos, platos gets you in and out within an hour usually and they give you an actual estimate on time. Platos offers about the same amount and doesn't require that you stay in the store to have your items sorted through "quicker". Also platos items in the store are cheaper I noticed. This store has some pretty redic prices on USED and worn items. If I didn't have to wait so freaking long, I would return here. The employees were very kind though.
