Moving states and finding new physicians for EVERYTHING is nerve wracking. I sure did give this office 5 stars. From scheduling, to picking out frames, this office was amazing. Efficiently run while maintaining kindness and professionalism made a huge impression. I also cannot say enough about Dr. Hatridge. He took the time to explain so many things I thought I was knowledgeable about. Their frame selection was not enormous, but I have learned that I would rather have fewer choices in frames than sacrifice all the things THIS office offers. We came to have my 4 year old son's eyes checked and Dr. Nguyen and the staff were FANTASTIC with children. She made sure to not only thoroughly check my son's vision but she made it entertaining and fun so he would follow her directions easily. When we left he actually said, "that was fun!", and this was after having his eyes dilated. We will come back here for all our family's vision needs. As far as their Covid procedure goes, you must call before entering. After entering everyone has to wash their hands and all of the staff was masked or double masked. We felt very safe. read more

Dr Hatridge is great - very thorough. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic and his thoroughness is extremely welcomed when it comes to my vision concerns. I have moved twice after starting to go to this location a number of years ago but continue to make the hour drive back to see him! It's very important to have my historical conditions and compare to my current ones. The staff in the office is also great! Very friendly and helpful! Ginda was the one who helped me find the cutest frames for my new glasses. She was great! But I do have to say, each time I go, they are always extremely helpful! Once you find a place like this - the Dr and the staff - it's worth the extra drive to continue coming back!! read more

I have been wearing glasses for over 30 years and never have I been told that the lens will make your frame larger once the lens have been placed into the frame. The glasses that I received were much larger them the ones that I pick out. I was also disappointed that the were not able to fill my written prescription that I received from my former eye doctor, they could not get the bifocal prescription correct so I was informed that I needed to have another eye exam done there, this has happened to me before at other optical stores and they just redid the prescription I feel this is wrong on so many levels as much as I paid for these glasses this should have been made whole. I wasn't able to get glasses here today because they do not accept my insurance, but the gentlemant answering the phone, Carl, was the kindest soul. He gave me a list of three optometrists in the area that did accept my insurance, and as if that wasn't enough... he even had their phone numbers. If you have ever seen the movie Miracle on 34th Street, you may recall that when the store Santa worked at (Macy's I believe) did not have a particular toy, Santa would send the parents to a store that did have the item in question. The owners were mad at first. But his kindness and his concern over people not profits, had the unexpected consequence of driving business to the store. Dr. Nathan Hatridge is great. I came in due to irritation from contact lenses. He suggested a different brand of contacts, reduced my prescription because it may have been too strong for my eyes causing the headaches, and he recommended eye drops for my dry irritated eyes. Friendly, helpful staff, sorted three eye appointments the same day. Special ordered frames on the way. Kid-friendly with toys in the waiting area, plus comfortable seating, tea, snacks and bottles of water for the adults. They were sweet to our toddler son and did a fantastic job with his exam. Since my first visit in 2012, I have bought another pair of glasses for my 10 year old and my college age son. The eyeglass section doesn't seem as huge as some of the national franchise stores but there is plenty to choose from. Realistically so many of them are the same, just different brands anyway. I recently went in to get pair of prescription reading glasses. Again, I found great frames and absolutely love my glasses. The staff are all very professional and I've never had more than a few minutes wait whether picking out glasses or picking up. We had issues with my little one not being very good with his glasses at first and they were so sweet every time we came in, even giving him tips on how to handle his glasses better in a positive, fun way. I've talked so high of them that my mother wants to come from Spring Branch to get her glasses. Another bonus is that Orange Leaf is next door so if you need to you can bribe your kids to behave with some frozen yogurt afterward. read more

This place is a lifesaver! My husband & I were in the area on vacation when his glasses broke. They were not repairable and we didn't bring any of his contact lenses. We contacted our home optical store and luckily they were willing to fax his prescription to a local store. We tried several places before finding TCO - the first national store wanted him to pay for a full exam before offering a trial pair, the second national store didn't have his brand in stock.... Then we stumbled upon TCO. Derek(?) at TCO was amazing! He was very sympathetic to our problem and offered to provide a trial pair of lenses once our Dr. faxed the prescription. When we arrived at the store all of the associates were friendly and accommodating. They even took time to talk to me about MY glasses and provided some valuable education on lens materials. If I lived in the area this would definitely be my eye care provider of choice. read more

Gave me a strong glasses prescription despite within two weeks of usage, the glasses were not much better than my old pair I gotten. I had to squint despite sitting near in front of my class and had to use my old pair because I could not see the board for my notes. I thought oh, must be my eyes adjusting and gave the pair chances to adjust over, though when I changed glasses frames before, there was no need for transition time, but with this pair I had more struggle to adjust. The guy who recommend the pair was not honest in feedback in how the glasses looked on me, I received much more better response at another place where the lady also asked their coworker for opinion rather than trying to get and go with me. When I went to get my eye exam again at another destination, the doctor said my eyesight improved. And there was no possible way my prescription would have changed that much in a short frame of time and she was also quite astounded. I am not one happy camper. Before I rather favor glasses frames, but now I rather like contact lenses as frames what I am going to be wearing everyday. Love the dr's, but sadly the last interaction with the associate that was "helping" me with my purchase wasn't the best. She would rather sit and collect a paycheck and talk about how she didn't get a rubber band gun to shoot fellow employees for Christmas (yes she shot a rubber band across the room at a fellow associate in front of me) than help or give selections for frames. I've referred several people here and hopefully they received better help than I did. The associates helping with fitting and frames need to make sure that they are doing their job and helping customer find the right frame for their face. My first time here last week for my annual exam. Since the reviews were so high, i thought i give it a try! Day of the exam- First impression was pleasant. The place looked clean and welcoming. Receptionist was very helpful. The girl that did my pre-exam was very patience with me since I had my son that day, he was all over the place. I saw Dr. Hatridge that day, he was very nice and he answered questions that i had concerns of regarding my previous prescription. Frame selection was good. Although I felt like the guy who help was very nice but wasn't very involved until I selected my glasses. But I had to give him props at this point, my son was ready to go. Overall experience first time was a 4 to 5 star. I couldn't have said I had the same wonderful experience the second visit there today. I was given a set of trial contact lens to try to see how I like them. Well few days ago, I had ripped my right lens due to dryness. So I called the office to see if I could get another lens just for the one it ripped. Mind you I had NO PROBLEM with the set of lens I walked out with the day of the exam that was given by the doctor. I went to picked it up today, at first the receptionist was very nice......she gave me actually a set of lenses for both eyes. Just to put it out there, i have a high RX of 7 in one eye and 6 in the other. So I'm pretty much blind without anything. I went to put on the trials, the right one was blurry, so I took it out to clean it thinking maybe it's just dirty ( coming from the package)...nope still blurry. By this point I've done took it out and put it back in 4 to 5 times. Finally the lady Doctor walked by (which I'm assuming is Dr. Nguyen)to asked if I was doing ok. I told her one of the lens is blurry. She told the receptionist to double checked my RX. I think the receptionist looked at my chart again to make sure but never came and said ANYTHING. Not...." I check the RX and is correct, let me figure why you are having problem with one lens" not " oh maybe the lens is defective, I'll get you another one to try" ANYTHING. I walked to the front to see where she was T, she was nowhere to be found, yet the other receptionist was sitting at the desk on the computer did not acknowledge me at all. So I went back to the back where the contact area is tried taking the lens again and clean it, the same results. At this point I am livid because what was supposed to be a in and out trip now I've been there about 15 to 20 mins. I only had just a short period of time K between my daughters award program so by this point I had to rush back. Well there was no way i could drive with pretty much one visible contact that i would see out of. So i threw the trial lens away, put my glasses back on and left and STILL NO ONE ACKNOWLEDGED ME!!!! I had already ordered my 1 year supplies of contacts. So I will just have to wait til they come in. I kind of feel like after today, they dont care once the deal is over as in purchasing glasses Nd/or contacts. THAT is the reason I give this place only a 3 star. Was going to take my oldest daughter here to get her eye exam but now I'm definitely second guessing it. Customer service is the key wherever you go. The staff is what represents the company. If staff doesn't have great customer service, no matter how good the company is, people will only see the flaws before they see the good in the company. read more

I was in the unfortunate position of having lost my insurance due to company wide layoffs and needed a note from an optometrist that my vision was 20/20 with both eyes open or the DPS wouldn't renew my drivers license. Dr. Nguyen saw me immediately, ran me through a standard eye exam and provided the note needed. I expected to get railed on the cost due to no longer having insurance, but it was all affordable. The best part was I had an appointment for 9:30 and they got me in right on the tick. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. read more

I've been coming here for the last 11 years- I even travel 30-40 minutes to them now that I've moved across town, that's how good this place is. Staff is awesome as well as the Doctors. I recently came in for my yearly exam and got the pleasure of meeting Eli. He sat with me for about an hour trying to help me decide if I should get new frames. We selected a handful and started to go through them and how they would look on me. Mind you I'm very much in love with the frames I currently have and have had for the last three years. After an hour of going back and forth I ended up deciding not to go with any frames and keep the ones I have and get a 90 day supply of contacts. He never once made me feel like I was a bother or that I was wasting his time- even though I felt like I was. He even deep cleaned my glasses and made them look brand new. Best customer service I've had there (even though their customer service is already a 10!). A few weeks later I got a postcard from TSO with a note from Eli saying he hoped I was liking my new contacts and to keep rocking the frames. Dr.Ly is amazing! The whole staff to be honest! I took my son and the results was very encouraging! She took her time with my son and was very patient with him and also ask him each time if he had any questions and all above. What impress me seeing her work with my son was that she made him feel comfortable and was very encouraging to the results that he received today. She showed enthusiasm with him knowing today for the first time he will be wearing glasses! That encouraged me as a mom! Also she took care of me as well with the visit overall reassuring me that my eyes are good concerning my last results and that she will always keep an eye on my eyes my next appointment. I went here for annual eye exam and contact/glasses script. The office is clean and comfortable and the staff members are all friendly. Dr. Nguyen seems a bit young, but I found it refreshing - she was very attentive, didn't rush, and (for a fee of course) she went over the health of my eye via a special photo and was very detailed and thorough. My family and I have been going to this location for years (since it opened). We have see Dr Nguyen and a couple if other doctors when she has been unavailable. Every time we go, the staff is friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. They are wonderful with my children and always patiently help them choose frames. Andrea has worked with us several times and always goes above and beyond to be helpful and provide valuable feedback on glasses. Derek has also been very helpful and patient in explaining things. They always understand and explain our insurance benefits to us and make the financial side of things easy and seamless. I was seen on time on both my visits and was impressed with the attention and involvement from Dr. Nguyen and her staff. I tried five different options and ended up with one lens for my non dominant eye which works great. Haven't had to use my readers since. Found out my friend has been going there for years and thinks highly of the service. My wife is heading there next so she can dump the readers too! read more

Background: I currently do not wear glasses, though I'm positive I need them - not only for reading but for night time visibility. Roughly six months ago I scratched my retina, the scratch quickly became swollen and infected. A few days later I went to the eye doctor and they prescribed ointment etc.. During my follow-up appointment, the eye doctor reviewed my old glasses and my current vision. Interesting enough, the original doctor (performed in Wal-Mart) did not specify my prescription correct. Today: Since I have always liked the style of my old frames I decided to take them in to TSO, in hopes of locating frames that mirror the old style. During the check-in process the administrator at the front desk requested to test my old glasses for the prescription. I tried to explain that it wouldn't be a good base line due to the lack of original specification. The administrator explained its used for a baseline, my reply "I would request them to start an eye exam from the beginning rather than use these frames". She quickly changed her position to indicate it won't be used for the eye exam - My reply "Then what is the purpose of using glasses that we know are incorrect for my eyes". I then tried to explain some of the history but was quickly cut off with "We do it for all customers". This process would make sense for persons that just need to update the prescription. My situation was somewhat unique with 3 year old glasses that are incorrect, as well as the recent damage to one of my eyes. Resolution: I am generally not a person to complain when receiving poor service, but the obvious rush from the employees and adamant stance on scanning glasses was quite embarrassing. After canceling my appointment and waiting for the rest of my family to finish the purchase of their glasses- I realized numerous flaws within the professionalism and quality of service by this location. Needless to say, my wife watched the employee that was working with her shake her head in disguise during my explanation of cancellation. Second, my daughter wasn't sure of the frames the lady assisted her in selecting. I requested the employee to show me the children's frames - her response "This is what her mom selected". I asked my wife and she explained she did not select any glasses for my daughter. This aspect of the experience is daunting but made complete sense and sums up the entire experience. The TCO location fails to render quality service, rather is more concerned with how fast clients are able to be moved in and out. read more

Dr. Yen Hoang Tran, O.D. 12\3\13 Dr. Yen I just want to let you know how disappointed I was with your service. When I came into your store I did not know what to expect but I did know that it was time to start taking care of my eyes. So to begin my journey I came in and was escorted into a room where after a short wait a young lady came in and done some preliminary test. She was real professional and did her job. She asked me if I stayed in front of the computer for a long time as I told her not too much. I was then asked to go into another room where I was going to receive my eye exam. I did get the eye exam and after a few questions I was escorted out of the room. Now my problem is that I was in the room with a Dr. and left not knowing how to take a little extra care of my eyes. Dr. Yen told me that my eyes were really stressed but she did not tell me how to take care of them. Should I take certain vitamins for my eyes or put certain eye packs on my eyes at night ? I got no advice on how to take better care of my eyes. Dr. Yen also told me that I had a stigmatism. What's that and is it also stressing my eyes? I don't know! She asked me about my health and before I had finished getting the last words out she was out of the room. Why even bother asking? I do not feel like I was in the room with a Dr. rather I was in the room with a technician that could use the equipment. So now it is time to pick out my glasses. First off the Dr. was telling me about the glasses and as soon as she discovered that I was not really interested in the name brand glasses she was gone. What? Does she also get a commission? She did not tell me that they were better frames or quality she just said that the Anne Klien frames were over here. I have an insurance card that I used for the exam and I asked if I could also use it on the frames. All of the girls in the office kind of laughed at me and informed me that there package was a better deal. What if I had wanted the more expensive frames? Would my card save me money ? I don't know since no one was offering me any customer service. I pay $54.00 a month for that card and got no advice on whether it was a good service or not worth the money I spend on it monthly. I had a friend who worked at TSO about 10 years ago and she had to go through a customer service training where she learned how to fit frames to the different shapes of faces. Did I get any help with choosing my frames? Absolutely not, I guess texting on the phone and talking was way more important than helping the one customer that was in the building. I am very disappointed with my overall experience at this office and I will probably send a copy of this letter to TSO main office and maybe I'll post my disappointment on Yelp.
