Nice drive from Sugarland to New Ulm. Specifically wanted to try this place so out we went. Cool little joint with BIG plates and tasty food. We split a double cheeseburger with bacon and glad we did. Barely got half of it down! Onion rings were terrific as well. Everyone else seemed to be really enjoying their meals. Great day trip location for weekend lunch!

    Bacon cheeseburger and onion rings

Wasn't impressed. Had a basic bacon cheeseburger. Way too many onions, the meat was plain and the bun was cold. It's fine if you're not looking for anything fancy.

For her dinner she chose Blake's Kitchen & Kocktailz spot to bring us all together for a nice late dinner on a Friday night. Parking was super easy and plenty of spots. At night the lot is a little dark so keep that in mind when you are here during night time hours. I had family and company so I felt safe walking with them in and out of the lot. Inside is large and surprisingly they got the space to hold a large party like ours where we had ten (10) people to join in on the celebration. The staff and team were cool enough to allow us to bring in our own birthday cake, utensils, and small plate for the occasion. Menu is large and there really is something for even the pickiest eaters. Our whole party all got things from the menu that ranged from hamburgers, smaller sized country fried steak, and even some mocktails that were not on the menu for the birthday girl. Service was fast and prompt through (almost) the entire night until our servers changed and no one told us. It was fine service changed we just wanted to know and make sure our server, Lily, got the tip we left behind for her taking care of us. Food was good and call came out at the same time which was just OK for me on my hamburger steak but I understand - we are a group of 10! Everything from appetizers to our mains were delicious otherwise.

I had eggs Benedict with crab, wonderful bacon, and home fries, and because I had traveled all the way out to Belleville, Texas. I made it a point to complement it all with a pancake, which was equally wonderful. It's a lovely restaurant and I think I read somewhere that it is old time Texas architecture and I must tell you it really was quite lovely. There was a patio and the weather was wonderful. We chose not to dine there but the next time we're in town. There is no question that we will make it a point to do so. The bartender was very capable, bloody Mary's and mimosas as well as a myriad of other drinks. Very many top shelf, liquors, and a wonderful cup of coffee make for not only a pleasant dining experience, but frankly a wonderful dining experience. If you're ever in Belleville, Texas, I would make it a point to stop by and enjoy really a top level dining experience.

From the moment we walked in, the restaurant felt cozy and inviting with a great atmosphere. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, our waitress was so sweet. I ordered fish and my husband had the steak, both were beautifully presented, but more importantly, absolutely delicious. The quality of the food really stood out. One of the highlights of the evening was watching fresh pasta being made right in front of us, which is something you don't come across often. We'll definitely be back. This has quickly become one of our new favorite spots, and I highly recommend it.

However, we felt like our food was just OK. We got the calamari and there wasn't anything unique about it, but it was good. My Caesar salad was a little odd. It did not taste like Cesar at all. The lasagna was just ok. We were quite disappointed in the chicken fried steak. It did not seem like it was seasoned at all, the batter was very bland and unfortunately, adding salt and pepper didn't do much because it would've been better if the batter itself was seasoned. I would return to this location, but maybe not have my hopes up so much to have a good meal. The prices are fair for what you get.

We could hear how he spoke to other customers too. We did actually get our water refilled from one of the other staff. The server didn't offer us any dessert. We felt rushed to leave. One guest asked for dessert and he said they one had one type of dessert. The staff at the hotel wasn't friendly either. We stopped by to look around and not one person spoke to us. We left and went to Must Be Heaven for dessert. We should've gone there for lunch but we wanted to support another local business.

Our greeting when we came in was not the most friendly, woman behind the bar didn't even smile and mumbled something that I assume was our greeting. Our server, though nice, seemed very new and inexperienced. But she seemed to be nervously trying to do a good jobl My drink order never was what I ordered. I think there was confusion with the server and woman behind the bar. Our server didn't seem old enough to serve it to me, it was broght over by bar tender. It was pricey for not ever really getting what I requested. The day we were there, they had one of the garage doors open and the front door as well. It was so cold in there, we almost left to go elsewhere as I suspected the food would be cold before it got to the table to be eaten. After our 2nd request, they finally closed the one garage door,, but was still a bit chilly. Then they told us they just put the heater on. (the heater helped but have entry door open to bring food in from food trailer) We didn't realize the food was made in an outside trailer and walked inside. I got the crawfish tail ? Ettofee baked potato ? Ettofee sp?. Although The potato was well baked, and the sauce was Very good, there was only 4 or 5 very small crawfish tails on it. I ended up taking it home with me as it just wouldn't stay warm enough for me to eat more of it. I wish they would of had some type of thermal box, or cover to bring the food in from the outside trailer to the table... My husband had a mushroom swiss burger which was good, and some really delicious flat shaped fries, but again, keeping our food warm enough to eat it was not the best situation. There were some really good looking things on the menu, but it was just too cold in there that day. During nice weather, I'm sure our experience would have been much better, as it seems like a really nice place with a very nice patio with great view.

Red Board is BACK!!!…read more When it originally opened, Red Board was our favorite local restaurant. Then Chef Craig headed to greener pastures and the food quality suffered. And after two date night dinners with crappy food, we quit going there. I am SO very happy to say, RED BOARD IS BACK! It was Lee's turn to choose the location for tonight's date night dinner, and I was a bit dismayed when he said we had reservations at Red Board. He assured me that there is a new chef, so I was grudgingly willing to give it a try. I had the red snapper with mango salsa, garlic mashed potatoes and jalapeño creamed corn. The mango salsa had a bit of a kick. The jalapeño creamed corn was luscious and had an even stronger kick! What's not to love? Lee had the chicken fried steak, jalapeño creamed corn and onion rings. He liked the steak, and commented that he was happy the corn wasn't swimming in cream. I stole some of his onion rings, and they are dynamite. Super crispy and oniony. I'm so happy we went there tonight. We will be back frequently if Chef Chris' food stays as good as it was tonight. Service there has always been great; that was never an issue. Kylie's service tonight was impeccable. And the food was every bit as yummy as anyone could hope. Thank you Chef Chris. You are AWESOME! And don't you even THINK about leaving Navasota!
