Cozy hidden gem. We went to celebrate my sister-in-laws birthday. Highly recommend making reservations because it's a very quaint sized place, but with big personal service. They had live music which made the celebration so much better for the evening. I ordered the chicken piccata which was perfect!! Absolutely delicious! We ordered a death by chocolate mousse and the key lime pie (which has biscoff crust) to end the birthday celebration. It was a wonderful evening, and worth the drive outside of Houston.

The food was outstanding from start to finish. Apps to desert. Service and staff was friendly. Come to town every year for a gun show and was a nice find. Will be back next year

Great service, amazing food / delicious drinks and music was so so good! The owners come right out and sit with you! Loved the added bonus of the few local business set up there to shop as well!

This is your new stop between Houston and San Antonio. Trust me. Wow. Okay, first of all this place is set in a wonderful old house nestled just north of downtown Columbus. This place actually hugs you with wit and humor and class all at the same time. Fun paintings along with white table cloths and brass fixtures. Elegant. But what's a nice setting if the food isn't also great? MS delivers. We had apps and entrees from a full but not too-large a menu. Simple recognizable dishes for extremely well. We had salads, southern shrimp, braised short rib etc. All prepared and plated with an elegance and attention that matches the decor. Service was delightful attentive and kind. The owner even stopped by our table twice and spoke to us. Magnolia Society is worth the very short trek off of I-10 for food that is not a classless chain burger or prepackaged truck stop fare. This is your next go-to stop between San Antonio and Houston.

The lovely interior!

Stopped by on a lark on the way back to San Antonio from Houston and encountered this recently opened gem. Proprietress told me it used to be an old hotel and that they had renovated it into a lovely restaurant. And lovely it is! The environment is classy and contemporary, and the staff makes sure you feel comfortable and well-served. The food was made with fresh ingredients and was delicious. My wife and I ordered a Margherita pizza, truffle fries, and a charcuterie board. We also ordered some wonderful house cocktails. The bartenders are still learning the art of mixology, so you may wait a bit to get your drink. Part of the hiccups of getting a business going. So, if you are on your way to Houston and passing by Columbus, give this place a try. You will not be disappointed!

My family ate here for brunch Sunday morning. The entire staff was pleasant and one of the owners introduced herself to our table while we were enjoying our entrees. We started out with the garlic fries and the spinach dip for appetizers. Both were delicious! Our entrees included the braised beef short rib, kale salad, pepperoni pizza, and the shrimp and grits. All were fantastic! The staff and our waitress were very attentive and the entire place looked clean and well-kept. We'll be back to enjoy this new gem in Columbus!

Magnolia Society was such a wonderful place to go to for dinner! We went on a Saturday night. They have the most beautiful atmosphere and even had live music outside on their relaxing patio. The food was sooooo good as well as the service. We can't wait to start coming here more often. If you're visiting Columbus on an evening they are open, I highly recommend!

The cashier/barista greeted is and told us she was at the rodeo late last night and still a bit out of it (it's 3pm). All we wanted were lattes and she seemed confused when I told her I prefer no foam. About 5 mins later she brought out the drinks. My son had a brown sugar sweet cream cold brew and loved it. My husband and I both ordered latte. They were double shots, he got whole milk and I got oat milk. Each "latte" was about 4oz including the shots and milk. The flavor of coffee was extremely mild. We love boutique coffee shops but unfortunately, we won't be returning to this one. It's barely a step above starbucks if that and more expensive.

I give it a 2-star though, because the coffee is way overpriced for what you get and there's a lack of attention. We talked with the gal at the counter about recommendations, and said we don't like syrups because they are too sweet. My husband ordered a cold brew and I ordered a large cappucino. What did we get? He took a sip of the cold brew and was shocked at how sweet it was, and she said "Isn't it good? We make it with a syrup." And my "large" cappucino was a teeny tea cup. Our 2 pastries and 2 coffees came to $22; I know the pastries were $4 each (and delicious), so the coffees were $14?! We like to support small local businesses, but that's just unrealistic pricing.

Nice and big and just that old town feel. Takes you back to the late 1800's or early 1900's. Plenty of cold beer options and decent wine list. And fair prices - tip just buy the bottle of wine. It's a deal. Service was great as well. We didn't order any food but some interesting options. This place is certainly worth stopping in while you're downtown shopping.

Fantastic Gem in Downtown Smithville!…read more If you're craving tapas flair with an intimate, cozy vibe, the Front Room is a must-visit. Styled like a Scottish pub--complete with a warm fireplace and plush leather chairs--this bar-tapas hybrid delivers elevated comfort in every sip and bite. Food & Drinks: * The menu is a delightful mix of small plates and satisfying mains. We couldn't get enough of the spinach‑artichoke dip, perfectly crisp pot stickers, and their indulgent boursin cheese spread (gluten free version available). * Their wine list and artisan cocktails are both creative and robust--perfect after a long day. Bonus: their rotating craft beers round it all off nicely. Vibe & Service: * The atmosphere hits the sweet spot--not too rowdy, not too quiet. Great for conversations, group gatherings, or date night. * Staff are relaxed, but attentive--felt like old friends bringing me comfort food and thoughtful pours. Events & Extras: * They frequently host live music--from regional acts to indie favorites--bringing lovely local energy. * Pet‑friendly patio setup is a big plus for dog owners--one reviewer even mentioned the owner greeting their dachshund. Overall: A solid 4.6-4.8 star crowd-pleaser on review sites, and for good reason. The Front Room Wine Bar is the perfect blend of upscale bar meets hometown charm. Whether you're winding down after Saturday shopping, catching local tunes, or just need a cozy spot for wine and chat--this place checks every box. Highly recommended!
