Four years on and we still enjoy doing it. This month was back to an old favorite, Fire Craft BBQ. Owner and head pit master, David Welch puts his heart and soul into the products his restaurant turns out. Not only that, there is a lot of variety and specialty dishes on the menu that most other BBQ places don't serve. We had 14 in our group and were able to pull together some tables and chairs in the large additional dining room they added not long after opening. The room is clean and well lit, big ceiling fans keep the air moving. Our group ordered a variety of things; I had the brisket hamburger with a side of the very southern yellow squash casserole. My wife had the chopped beef sandwich with fries and another friend had the chicken plate with beans and coleslaw. Others had their tocos and other sandwiches, one had the ribs. We were all full and happy when we finished. What 's nice is David came by to check on us and make sure everyone was happy, not many owners take that kind of personal attention.

The young lady at the order counter was very kind and welcoming, but I believe it was the owner or the cook that came out and brought my sandwich. He never made eye contact ,never said thank you ,just shoved my sandwich in a bag at me ,and walked away. I had asked for a small container of extra sauce and was willing to pay, and the young lady said no ,they will put sauce on the sandwich ,so I was fine with that. For $14 ,I had a small hamburger bun with no pickles, no onions, just meat and a quarter teaspoon of sauce. I brought it home and put on some of my own sauce and pickles, but sadly, the meat was very dried out ,as though it had been chopped earlier and frozen, or just overcooked.There was no smoke ring on the meat at all. It was brown all the way through ,and the edges were too hard to eat on many of the pieces. I ended up having to knock off about half of the inedible meat ,and so had a very spare sandwich for lunch. Too expensive for this disappointing product,so I won't be back. I love to support local, but I work hard for my money too, and cannot waste it.

Cooked perfect, juicy, bun was fresh, perfect amount of condiments, I ordered pickles on the side. The tallo fries, oh man, oh man. My husband and I shared the burger and it was the perfect amount. I wish we could keep this as Kingwood's secret, but they've already won a bunch of barbecue circuit awards. If you come and eat here the table across from the fountain, that's mine don't sit there.

My mother-in-law opted for a plain potato with just cheese and butter and she also commented on how hers didn't have much cheese on it. We also got the cornbread and when we first tried it, it was a bit hard. We nuked it in the microwave and that made it much better to eat. Pricing was reasonable, though I'm used to paying a lot more for food in California, so that may not be the norm in Texas.

A 2-year Michellin star BBQ joint was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. My friends and I got there around 10am and were lucky enough to grab a number. The number secures your spot in line but don't worry if you show up and they run out, there's a spot on the porch where the non-number line starts. We ordered moist brisket, garlic sausage, and the beef rib. For sides, we went with mac and cheese and beans. Everything was superb! The brisket melted in your mouth, no knife needed. The sausage had a nice snap to it and get great flavor. The bark on the beef rib was *chef's kiss*. The mac and cheese was creamy while the beans had a nice sweet and tangy flavor. The service is also great! While we were eating, staff would regularly check all of the tables to check if anyone needed anything.
