It's one of the only steak places around here. I've been striking out getting the ribeye the last few times so I got the prime rib and figured I'd be safe. Nope. Asked for medium rare and they give me a crispy end cut of the prime rib. I didn't return it since I could see It had a bit of red in it and I didn't want to complain and get my wife worked up since she had talked me into trying this place again, but come on.... It was like beef jerky, but not even that tender. Parts of it were as hard a my plate. It's like they don't care anymore. Even the typically good service was missing. A classic Texas Roadhouse experience except the food quality was lower than I remember. We waited a while for a table but it was a busy Friday night. Service was good!! We started with the Rattlesnake bites and split the rib and steak combo. The Rattlesnake bites had a very artificial cheese flavor with little jalapenos. The ribs were good. The steak was cooked well (ordered medium rare) but it needed more seasoning. I hope this was a one off for Texas Roadhouse! read more

If you are in St. Joe and are looking for a great place to take your spouse for a nice dinner, someplace where you can sit across from each other and enjoy a nice meal and enjoy each other's company then I can recommend a few other places, but not Texas Roadkill. First when you arrive and check in you'll be told that there's a 15-25 minute wait. Not terrible, until 45 minutes later when you get your table. Still not horrible considering this place is always busy. You can tell by the giant crowd blocking the door. It's a good thing they never have a fire because you'd probably be trampled trying to get out. Every visit however we have had a friendly server and *some* of the employees have been pleasant. Most of them are quiet, but I understand as they are always very busy. The food was very mediocre. It's kind of what you'd expect for spending $78 with tax and tip for a steak, shrimp, baked potato and salad and a second entre of barbecue chicken with salad and sides. We also ordered a margarita and a flavored lemonade. That's actually a very cheap price, and the quality of the food reflects the price. Value is definitely on your side. It's what you would expect if McDonald's opened a steak house. The steak was thin and probably as close to medium rare as you can get with a poor cut of meat. The shrimp was decent size, well seasoned, and had that wonderful rubbery texture you'd expect from slightly overcooked shrimp. This place is always incredibly loud, probably due to the fact that it's all solid materials and there's nothing to absorb the sound. The staff does a great job of very loudly celebrating birthdays in the most humiliating way possible. This time I left not feeling so good. It was very hot inside and when you mix that with mediocre food and a very loud atmosphere it's just not a good mix. It would be really great if family and friends would stop giving me gift cards to this place. It's like they're saying, "Here, have this gift of money, and here's where I'm telling you to spend it." Can I recommend you go to the Hoof & Horn instead? You'll have a way better meal in a fantastic atmosphere. read more

DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK YOUR ORDER!!! The past 4 times I have ordered from here, I have asked for extra croutons. Every time they don't give us any at all, and the order I placed today they forgot my fries. I at least would like to know if they are out. I know it's just croutons but the problem is I live 30 minutes out. I don't waste my gas to spend 40-50 on food and not get everything I asked for. The employees energy matches the not caring too. I typically prefer locally owned restaurants over chains, but Texas Roadhouse is pretty good. They have deliciously underrated steaks and those rolls!! I could eat my weight in those rolls! Had a great dinner last night. It was Saturday after valentines, so of course there was a long wait time. We used the app the get on the list before we even left home. The time was accurate on the wait. We were seated about 8pm. The service was good considering how slammed they were. Our waitress was really good. I had the medallions cooked rare. I warned the waitress that if they come out medium, I'm sending it back because I want a cool, red center. She said she'd be sure the cook knows. It came out PERFECTLY cooked! I was very happy with my steak. The roasted sweet potato was amazing, as always. So why the 4 stars? My hubby had his heart set on prime rib. We thought for sure they would plan for a big night of prime rib. They ran out. He was so disappointed. So he had the biggest 20 oz bone-in ribeye instead. He wonders if it was actually that big (it probably was), and he enjoyed every bite. He said he was not disappointed in the ribeye, but I could tell he just really wanted prime rib. I call it a win anyway since we are limiting his steak intake to once a month for heart health reasons. The salads, bread, and potatoes were all very good, as expected. We will be back since it's his favorite place to dine out... for prime rib. And we will get there at 5pm, if not earlier. read more

We have been going here since they opened . Living in Gower , we are a tad closer to St Joseph than the Liberty, or North KC locations. The interior is pretty standard across the board in all the Texas Roadhouses, and this one is no exception. The steak temps at this location can be very hit and miss. Meh. It's like an Applebee's that mostly serves steaks. We came here on a Sunday evening and, while busy, there was no wait. The rows of booths are little too close together. Be super careful or you'll have 5 collisions with servers on your way to the restroom. The servers are polite enough, but really young and in a rush. On weekend evenings only, they offer prime rib, so I opted for that. I'm not sure how you can make prime rib bad, but you apparently can. It was way too dry and the worst I've ever had. My sides were ok - the Caesar salad was good and the loaded mashed potatoes were edible. It's not nearly as loud as other locations I've been to, which was quite nice. And a manager came by our table, which was nice too. I suppose it's a perfectly fine place. And I'd say it's better than other locations. But it's just not my taste. This Roadhouse provided a great server but the ambiance was anything but desirable! The music was so loud that our orders were incorrect. We could not have a conversation and every staff member (3) staff person had to ask us a second time, as we did them, what was being said. As for the food, the salmon was flavorful yet extremely overcooked (crunchy). The prime rib was tasty, yet tough. The kitchen did not supply the correct dressings and no rolls were provided or suggested by the seater or the server. Our host wasn't very friendly which is a bit of a turn off, but our waitress was friendly. The restaurant itself was extremely crowded and seemed like one big cluster. It was difficult to navigate to our seating when the host was running off and everywhere you turn there are people standing around everywhere, completely unaware of their surrounding. If you are someone who is afraid of Covid 19 , this might not be your place. The rolls are delicious. My husbands smothered steak was cooked well. I wasn't a fan of the gravy that topped my country fried steak. It was a bit sweet. Over all it was a decent place. What a bad visit my friend and I had here Saturday. We come in and the girl asked how many, I say 2 and she just leaves us standing there. After 5 minutes I ask are you going to seat us? She says she can't because the wait staff is in a meeting and we have to wait until their meeting is over because there's no one to seat us. She turned around and continued to talk and laugh with another employee. I'm 72 years old and can't stand for long periods, I told her either you seat us or I'll find my own place. She was so rude and uncaring, she needs more training. To make guests stand and wait because employees are in a meeting is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. So she seats us in a booth where the AC is blowing right down on the table, it was so cold. Our server was nice. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin medium rare. It looked good, cooked right but it was tough and chewy. The sirloins used to be good but not anymore. I was in a Texas Roadhouse in Phoenix AZ a few weeks ago and the sirloin I got was the same, tough and chewy. The quality of meat is not as good as before. My friend ordered the Country Fried Sirloin, it was so small barely covered a fourth of the plate. It used to be huge and very good. Times have changed, food has shrunk in size and prices up. This will be my last time here, the food is just not worth my money. I'll go down the road to Cheddar's where the food is delicious and they care about their guests. After being in the road for 2 days we just wanted a great burger and we got that at Texas Roadhouse. My husband loved his burger and I enjoyed my salad which was enough for 2 people. Come here often and have never been upset or disappointed. The few times a meal was not prepared the way we ordered, the management and server were always there to make it right.
