My only suggestion would be to include a few more pieces, as the portion could have been a bit larger. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler, and it was delicious--the perfect way to finish the meal. The only downside was the restaurant's new policy of adding a delivery fee to all carryout orders. I placed my order to go and waited at the bar until it was ready, then took it home myself. Since I picked up my own food, I don't believe a delivery fee is appropriate. The server explained that this fee is now applied to all carryout orders. That extra charge is the only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars. The food was very good, and I'd definitely return, but I hope they reconsider this policy because it takes away from an otherwise excellent dining experience.

Ugh, you could tell the noodles had been cooked in advance and held in water, rewarmed with hot water, and plated. A lot of Italian restaurants do this: cook the noodles in advance and keep them in oily water for the lunch or dinner rush, but these noodles were from the day before, at least. The sauce was watery, but the kicker was the meatballs. They were the same ones that you get in cheap frozen dinners or the $ 4 bags of meatballs at Walmart. It's an Italian restaurant; the one thing you should be able to get right is spaghetti and meatballs. Anyway, my friend's chicken was dry, and the veggies were oily and obviously frozen. The second star was for the staff; our waitress was very nice, the place was clean, and the prices. I guess you get what you pay for.

The first time we went was over 10 years ago and as soon as this trip was being planned, my husband already told me we had to make a stop. This place is a typical greasy spoon. You walk in and find your own seat. There's an open kitchen so you can see everything that goes on behind the counter. My husband and I were waited on right away. I ordered the chicken fried steak with grits. My husband got the steak and eggs with a waffle. Everything was cooked fresh and tasted great. I have no complaints. The steaks were both a little thin but for the price we paid it was a good deal. The biscuits were delicious. And like always the waffle was a star. It's the hot link. It tastes like somebody fired up the grill in their backyard instead of a fast-food kitchen. The burgers hold their own against just about every chain out there, and if you add chili, you'll thank me later. Then there's dessert. Shakes, fried pies, strawberry shortcake...they've got every course covered. Griff's feels like a throwback to a time when fast food had a little more personality and tasted like somebody actually cared. Places like this are getting harder to find. It's right across from Louisiana Tech, so expect a line when school's in session. Don't let it scare you off. It's absolutely worth the wait. Face it, people like Griff's.
