I called and they refused to waive the fee saying it "wasn't their responsibility that I started mid-cycle". And hey, that's not strictly false, but a little goodwill with your customers can go a long way. BUYER BEWARE!!! (Read whole thing for helpful information)…read more Don't make the same mistake I did. First of all, I'm not in San Francisco. I've never even been to California. I'm in Dallas, TX. Now that that's outta the way... I've been with this company for about 10 months now, and my lowest bill was only at 118.00. On average, my bill with these guys have been 158-160. So, what's the problem you may ask? The problem is that I live in a two story apartment with low lighting and all energy efficient products. During the day, no one is there and during the night, not many things are running. I've lived in a 4 bedroom house and had better priced bills than this. I did make one mistake and I admit it was a stupid one. I signed up for their five year deal whereby if you use less than 500 kWh, you pay only 49.50. At the time, I didn't know anything about this stuff and I admit I was stupid and got taken advantage of. On average, I use anywhere between 1000 to 1700 kwh. STILL, I've had bill less expensive than this. Oh, but it gets better. The recent cold snap we had caused all of us to have our heaters on. My bill gets in and I'm expecting it to be high...just not $332.00 high. And this is from 3,109 kWh of usage. Naturally (after I finally awoke after fainting from shock) I immediately canceled my contract. Let me restate that even in the summer my bills weren't that high. But, the nail in the coffin was this recent bill. Remember when I said that if you use under 500 kWh, you only pay 49.50? Well, after I canceled my contract, my final bill was 81.18. The only problem was that I only used 380 kWh. I called again and asked, and the manager agreed that this shouldn't have been the case. I'm waiting for an adjustment. Had I not called, I would've ended up paying more than I had to...again! I'm now getting Oncor to test out my meter...which by the way is FREE every four years. Electricity companies will tell you that if you want them to read your meter, it will cost you. This is to keep you from doing so, and it is a lie. Oncor allows you one free meter read every four years. It's when you want another one is when they charge you. If you made it this far, thanks. I know this review is long, but I hope it was at least entertaining and I hope you learned something. The only reason these clowns are getting a two star is because their customer service was good, even if I could barely understand them. So, when an electricity company tries to lock you in for a 5 year hitch with the promise of good rates...that's should be a big, fat screaming red flag and the words should be in big bright letters "DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT!"
