I am a huge steak foodie! If you have seen any of my reviews, you know I am a HUGE fan of Texas de Brazil. Today was a little bit of a disappointment. Every restaurant has a day here and there where they just don't meet expectations, this was one of them. I did express my disappointment to the main server, who confirmed they were short staffed and apologized. Our main sever and all the gauchos were very good and friendly. The main server was on top of everything, but the gaucho service was extremely slow. My wife and son barely ate much meat due to the slow service. I ate more, but waited and waited for several cuts, which made it to our table not nearly enough. I usually finish off with the Picanha, but after asking specifically for this cut, waiting nearly 30 minutes with my family sitting impatiently, I threw in the towel and flipped my card to red and asked for the check. The steaks and meats that came out were excellent, with maybe 1 cut being a little over cooked. I know we are in a time where finding, hiring and retaining quality employees is challenging, but it's still disappointing when you pay good money for a higher end restaurant and leave disappointed. Will I go back? Of course, it is Texas de Brazil. I have dined at all 5 of their restaurants in NY and Albany is usually good, but this isn't my first disappointment at the Albany location. I've only been to one other Brazilian steak house/churrascaria in my life and it was insanely good. So this is a little bit of a comparison to that experience which may or may not be fair. In a nutshell, this spot is decent. I'm not really interested in any kind of gamey meats and don't eat a lot of meat in general, but once in a while is fine. I didn't find the selections to be worthy of asking for seconds or even finishing some of the firsts. Several pieces of different meat options were on the dry side and overall just didn't do it for me. I will say that the single slice of filet mignon that I had was excellent. The salad bar is the star here. Oddly enough, one of my favorite things was the pineapple carpaccio - thinly sliced pineapple in what seemed to be a brown sugar syrup situation. They had a lovely smoked salmon and so many other salads to choose from that it was almost overwhelming. The spot that I went to in the past had sushi grade raw salmon and I was hoping to find that here (as mentioned, it was smoked). Our friends that really enjoy meat options noticed that several different choices were never offered to our table. Texas de Brazil is a Brazilian steakhouse offering all you can eat flame grilled meats and a salad bar. The offerings were fresh, servers were kind, and service was timely. Food was clearly a 10 out of 10. Our waitress was terrific. Friendly and joyful. The carvers on the other hand we rude and markedly unpleasant. One female carver when my daughter asked if she cooked the meat she was serving, got an abrupt no and the carver walked away. Hard to justify a great me with an unfriendly and rude staff. read more

The people with the meat came out and went to one section of the restaurant and would walk past us over and over again, even when they had more meat to go around. The manager had to check in on us twice and tell the staff to go to our table. Overall, we were offered Brazilian sausage every other time and scarce steak offers. Meanwhile the other tables seemed to have their meat fill. Not sure what we did to be on the steak black list but we will not be returning. Service was fast, friendly and attentive despite being packed! Food was phenomenal, everything tasted fresh as could be from the salad bar to all the meat they served (ON SWORDS--So cool!). They bring skewers of bacon wrapped chicken or Parmesan encrusted pork loin. The chicken and pork was moist. Delicious!They slide the chicken and pork right off the hot skewers. And they were right there with offerings, because I didn't turn my chip around. Red for stop, green for go. I did not try the sausage because I was getting so full. It looked amazing. I also tried the fillet but I gave that to my nephew because I'm not a fan of red meat. Most of the beef is medium to medium rare, and I prefer medium well to well done. I had a sliver of the flank steak and it was so good! I really liked the cold green beans from the buffet and the beets. The fresh mozzarella and goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, just endless! Which is endless - the amount of food you can eat or the amount of compliments I have for this restaurant? Trick question. The answer is both My husband and I went to Texas de Brazil for a post-elopement dinner. We had reservations for 6:30 and were seated promptly at 6:35. The premise of this all-you-can-eat restaurant is simple: the salad bar and soups are bottomless, so eat to your heart's content. The meat is served fresh on long metal poles (not quite skewers) by servers walking around with different dining options. When you're ready for the meat, simply flip your coaster. Ummm.... What? Yep. Each person gets a coaster. One side is red and one side is green. If your coaster is red-side up, it tells the servers you're not ready for meat. But green-side up means the servers will stop at your table and offer you whatever they're holding. Have as much (or little) as you like. The options are endless - filet, bacon-wrapped filet, Brazilian sausage, chicken, bacon-wrapped chicken, leg of lamb, sirloin, flank, and more. I didn't try everything but I loved everything I did try. You can flip the coaster back to red while you digest or chat (or both). The environment seems like it should be chaotic with everyone running around with stacks of hot, juicy meat but it was surprisingly calm. Our main waiter, Hector, made sure we had drinks and pachuqueso (Brazilian cheesey bread). He asked us a few times if there was a specific meat we were looking for so he could track it down, but we were happy to wait and watch. When it came time for dessert, Hector explained all of our options. He made sure my cake was allergy-friendly. He took his time explaining in detail how it works. What was at the salad bar and how many choices of meet were available. He took our drink order and we made our way over to the buffet. An amazing array of meats (includes seafood), veggies and sauces. The hot buffet contained white rice, black beans, scalloped potatoes,soup and a mushroom item. My favorite meat selection was the spicy beef. The bathroom was dark but the dining area was decorated beautifully, not too noisy. They sang Happy Birthday to the birthday girl. I've been to Brazilian barbecue restaurants before, but they were always independent restaurants, not part of a chain. I wasn't sure what to expect here, but overall I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied. A lot had to do with the staff, especially our server, Matt (he evidently has an excellent reputation, because I see others have mentioned him favorably too). My party had 2 friends who have gluten intolerance (one quite severe). So prior to making a reservation, we checked the menu online. Quite a lot of options were safe to eat. But we also mentioned it upon arrival, and we were told a manager would stop by to give us more details about what those folks could and could not eat. Well not just one but two managers came by, and they were both very informative. We also took advantage of their happy hour, which features discounts on a selection of well cocktails, beers, and their own wines. These wines certainly weren't high-end, but they went well enough with the meats, and the 50 percent discount is nice too. The salad bar is quite extensive, and it's very easy to fill up on it if you aren't careful. But if you came here for the barbecue, save room for that. We were told in advance that most of the red meats would be medium rare. That was true for anything sliced off the skewers, but most of the smaller pieces of higher-end cuts (e.g., filet) were definitely more like medium well or more. We were initially inundated with severs with meats. As our dinner went on, and we were more selective, we were visited less (most of us had the red side of our cards showing), but our server said he could relay requests for specific meats to come back to the table, and we took advantage of that. This place is best experienced with an empty stomach and a full wallet. Plan ahead, and enjoy! read more

Brazilian "food" basically a delicious salad bar you can't fully enjoy if you want to eat $55 worth of meat. They do offer just salad bar option but it would be nice if I could get the salad bar with a bit of protein. Regardless, the experience is fun and the meat is typically pretty well made. If it's busy, you do have to wait forever to get more protein from the staff who bring it to your table. Caveat bring if you let your server know they can send something in particular right over to you which is generally nice. Servers are attentive and friendly. Wine list is extensive but I prefer the caipirinha cocktail, strawberry is delicious ! They also have quite a few desserts to choose from. They're priced around the standard of $10-$15 which is a bit high for the size you get but they are tasty. The place is pretty inside! I'd been here pre-pandemic and never wrote a review. Then randomly found myself there for Father's Day 2024 around 6pm. To their credit I feel like this place hasn't changed a bit since I was last there. The wait staff seemed amazing, but unfortunately the quality of the meat was the same last time I was there: mid and SUPER amazingly salty. I LOVE SALT. I do. And for me this got to be too much. I don't quite understand why it's so super salty, maybe the marinades? Anyhow, the salad bar is amazing, I honestly would probably go here for just for the "salad" bar. From the reviews I thought the salad bar was not in person- I thought we order from the waiter due to Covid precautions. At the bar, there was a sign requesting customers to wear a mask, I saw many customers without one. If you are going to have a sign requesting customer wear a mask, at least enforce it. Less than ideal at the Texas De Brazil. Trish and I have been here dozens of times and always had a positive experience. But not so much this time. Although our server John was very nice, service was generally slow. Ordered refills of drinks that never came, and the meat servers walk past, looked about green markers, and continued walking on by. The sides of mashed potatoes and fried bananas came out very late and were stone cold. We sent them back for replacements, which never came. As always, a great salad bar and good meats, but they definitely had their B-team on duty tonight. It would be good to note that it was NOT crowded (although we expected it to be considering the holiday weekend), apparently most considering to have Thanksgiving leftovers instead. Initially, I was quite grumpy at the hostess(es) for making me wait! I was very early (approx 1 hour early) for my 7:30pm reservation, and there was CLEARLY 5-7 EMPTY TABLES, set for the evening... while I wait & wait. I wound up EXTREMELY well taken care of by the hostess, waitstaff, and especially by the Gauchos There were countless meat varieties, including a few that I haven't seen at other Brazilian BBQs (Churrascarias). The salad bar was well stocked except the cheese wheel bowl. The meat was sizzling, cooked to perfection, plentiful, and came often. I was also asked if there was any specific meat that I wanted, toward the end of my meal, allowing me to get a few more bacon-wrapped Jalapeños. Plain and simple, after a rough start & my poor attitude, the staff won me over. I can't wait to come back! We have been to other locations but none since Covid-19. Masks required for entry. (Sorry, Karen). Made reservations for dinner and arrived on time. We were seated immediately. The salad bar (which is typically a big thing here) is no longer self serve. They have a little checklist that you use to indicate what you want and the waiter brings the salad to you. It worked out fine (and prevented me from scarfing down all the smoked salmon). With reduced capacity of patrons, the service seemed very fast. This place is a carnivores dream. Brazilian churrascaria where the gauchos come around your table with various cuts of meat ready to carve and serve to you. Numerous choices and I had most of them and all good. Started with a very good salad bar with really top notch ingredients and what not... but don't lose focus as you come to this place for the meats. My favorites were the flank steak, picanha, lamb chops, and garlic sirloin and maybe couple others that I don't remember. The downside to this place is that I overeat due to the great food, and some misguided attempt to eat my moneys worth... except I need to learn to just enjoy the experience and just eat what I am comfortable with and not over do it. Wasn't able to partake in good looking desserts because I did eat so much meat and was pretty full. Service was good. Plenty of people, from the server, to the manager, checked on us to make sure things are ok. When asked about certain cuts of meat and what to send over... communications between server and gaucho doesn't seem to be very smooth since the gaucho never did come over for seconds on the filet mignon. Server did ask about another cut of meat earlier in the meal which I requested for but that didn't come either until near the end when the gaucho finally wandered by. People are friendly and pleasant though. I would return. There is another competitor of their that I may like just a bit better but they are not around here so I don't really have a choice. Unfortunately was not the best Brazilian rest I have been but for Albany's standard it was pretty good. Lobster soup was amazing but super salty. Do not get me wrong, I love salt every bite of my food. But this was something else even for me. I do not eat pork, they kept brings 3 times pork twice chicken and then finally some beef or lamp. Came to Albany for one night and ended up visiting Texas de Brazil TWICE. Both nights we came for dinner. Both nights were amazing. First night we had Briton as our server, he was awesome and extremely knowledgeable on the drinks and food. Tonight we had Atticus (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) and she was amazing as well. She asked if we wanted certain meats and she had the servers come right over. I've been to a steakhouse like this one, where you turn the card red and green to stop meat or to keep it going. This one tops the cake. The cold bar was amazing with the salads and shrimp. I was surprised to see sushi but that was amazing as well and well rolled!
