    Welcome to Texas Canyon
    Bruce K.

I did an overnight here on the way to California and it was mostly pleasant. Not perfectly level but not far enough that it was uncomfortable. You can't beat the views here sleeping below the beautiful canyon walls that are great at sunset and then great at sunrise. Restrooms were reasonably clean. I felt safe enough sleeping here as I did see some highway patrol pass through. [Review 17494 overall - 81 in Arizona - 1012 of 2022.]

Super impressed with this rest area. Why? 1. It's nestled in the middle of a beautiful setting: Texas Canyon is this gorgeous landscape that is dotted with boulders and rock formations 2. Air Conditioned restrooms. Hey if you're going in for a sit down, c'mon, wouldn't you rather do it in a climate controlled environment? 3. CLEAN, NON-FOUL smelling restrooms. Who doesn't like not having to deal with smells and sticky floors? Great Job, Arizona!

    Men's restroom was clean.

Stopped here 9 weeks ago during our road trip back home to Atlanta, to use the restroom, stretch our legs and take some pics of the rock formations surrounding Texas Canyon Rest Area. This rest area is on I-10 Eastbound. There were lots of parking available here in the very large parking lot. The men's restroom was nice and clean. This rest area has huge boulder rock formations surrounding it - very picturesque!

Very safe & amazing views!!! I pulled in right before midnight to catch a few ZZZs. I've actually never napped/slept at a rest stop before. I felt totally comfortable and safe. The bathroom is well lit and clean. I cracked my window a bit and fell asleep to the humming semi trucks on the other side. Woke up at 6:30 am and actually felt pretty refreshed. Got a cinnamon roll and a canned Starbucks drink from the vending machines. Sure beat a $70 motel 6.

Evil MFer goats head! NOT paw friendly!

Nice scenery, wide and long truck/RV parking. 3 stars because no real great place for dogs to relax and pee because no grass and a sh@t ton of those evil Goats head stabbing seeds on ground. 5 stars for providing doggy poo bags though. 4 stars for the fact the mens bathrooms were not operational - which didn't mean diddly-squat to me lol but to my guy it was a BIG deal - but we have an RV bathroom so his whining was wasted on me. It was super noisy from trucks with refers going all night and some idiot playing with his air brakes - but I didn't take any stars off for that. Pretty sunrise was nice. Easy access

Beautiful rest area! Cars and trucks have separate parking areas + there is a lot of parking, including handicap parking. THE BATHROOMS are super clean, warm, and spacious. This is one of the best rest stops I've seen heading west on IH-10!

    The "Scenic" view

The restroom area smells like raw sewage, but the bathrooms are clean with plenty of stalls. They also have soap in ALL of the dispensers. There's a side with longer parking spaces for trucks and cars with trailers. The opposite side has regular spaces for cars and trucks. Next to the building is a picnic area and a lot of natural, large, desert boulders. If you are headed East, it's your last state rest stop for 68 miles, so take advantage of this place. The "scenic" view isn't very scenic because the grass is overgrown.

Pretty much as nice as a rest area can be. Everything was clean and the grounds were well maintained when I stopped here earlier today. We had been on the road for a couple of hours, so a pit stop was clearly in order. There were some interesting signs about the "brutal" and cunning" Apache Indians that we basically slaughtered along with other tidbits of useful and not-so-useful information. If you are passing through this area and need a break, don't hesitate to stop here. It is safe and easy to access.

A place to stop and breathe in Nature. Land of the Yucca tribal domain. Apache country, 150 years ago, forbidden territory to all, but now I see a land worth dying for. The center has vending machines that takes debit, I believe a welcome center. History placcard, a sign that syayes beware of snakes. Benches, picnic tables. Friendly visitors, wonderful rock formations.

Very clean restrooms, right off the highway and parking is easily accessible if towing an RV. Nice view too

Beautiful rest area to relax. The views are gorgeous. I need to stop in the spring or summer instead of today -it was 42 degrees and windy.

As we drove toward Dragoon, all of a sudden the scenery shifted to one of a bouldered landscape. Each rock as if it had been picked up by a giant and then gently balanced on top of another. It was surreal and reminded us of a movie set from Lost in Space. Come to find out, it was the site of a filming of the 1957 movie "3:10 to Yuma." This is a Dude Ranch with several amenities. We chose a site with water and electric only, but there are other sites with full hook-ups. There is a pristine "COLD" water pool and a full restaurant and bar that is open only during peak seasons. There is free WiFi, bunkhouse "motel" rooms, casitas and cottages as well. To call this place "other-worldly" would be close, but it was absolutely magical. So dark at night, you could actually see the Milky Way and peer into a universe far far away. Luminaries such as President John F. Kennedy, General John J. Pershing, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and others have visited and stayed at this unique location. Our only wish was that we had more than just an overnighted. We'd definitely like to return.

What a treasure! When I called ahead to book a camp spot for the RV, I was welcomed by Mona, the heartbeat of the Triangle T! Gracious, full of character and charm, with amazing stamina and energy. I'll let you ask her age when you get here! The next day - within a very short time of our arrival, we were made to feel like family - not only by Mona but every member of the staff we encountered. Growing up in the 1950s, it was all about Cowboys and Indians. Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Gene Autry, John Wayne...names that greeted us on the small signposts along the entry road. The signature boulder landscape was absolutely remarkable - creating the kind of ambiance that Disney works hard to recreate! Had I been here before? You bet - every time I went to a Saturday Matinee at the Avenue Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, I was here! Had I died at an early age, I am sure this is what heaven would have looked like - compete with horses - led down a well-worn trail by a grizzled old wrangler - a man of few words - only spoke when necessary! We opted for dinner in the Rock Saloon - while the rest of the world seems to be able to steak or eat ribs for dinner, at my advanced age, I am resigned to chicken or fish. This had to be the best almond-crusted chicken breast to which I'd ever taken a fork. Like other guests, we were forwarned to let Mona know earlier in the day - should we plan to dine at the Rock Saloon. Over dinner, we were joined by another guest and Kevin, the local mechanical wizard that kept everything running around the ranch. He too had come to the place months before and was shocked to find this 'well-kept secret'. Mostly he is there because he likes to be there - not an uncommon thread amongst the staff at the Triangle T! Linda Kelly, the owner of the place is easily one of the ranch's greatest fans! She truly has her heart and soul in the place. A 'stand-out' member of the cast is Thomas - a gangly 'roustabout' who manages the 'ranchy issues' like road maintenance, mending fences, etc., etc. Points to the rattlesnake band on his well-worn cowboy hat and exclaims....."Yup - killed him m'self with a knife, skinned him out, turned him into dinner one night, and made a hat band outta him!" You really can't make this stuff up folks! If you and your family are looking for somewhere to be, this place is steeped in early history as the wintering place of Cochise and the Chirichua Apaches, later history as the kind of guest ranch that would attract the likes of the Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers, and the Kennedys. During WW2, it was a top-secret detainment camp for the Japanese diplomats and spies that engineered the attack on Pearl Harbor, 7 December 1941 - the day that still lives in infamy! Following the war, due to its unique natural beauty, it became a haven for Hollywood Westerns and hosted many of the legendary actors of the silver screen including Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, Gene Autry, Rex Allen, John Wayne, The Lone Ranger & Tonto, Glenn Ford, Ronald Ragan and later Gene Hackman! Today, it is being restored by a group of dedicated people who host several events throughout the year - and provide a fabulous experience to anyone who might be looking for a halfway point between Las Cruces and Tucson!
