I ate here a few years ago and remember thinking the sausage was good..Well since in my travels I've come across a bunch of different sausages that blow this away...The sausage here is basically no different that a store-bought...I got the 2 meat platter with chopped brisket...the brisket (and the sausage) were both served room temperature....The brisket was fatty and not all that good...I got the spicy bbq sauce and it was nothing special....I've never had a potato salad with such an overwhelming mustard taste...It made it almost inedible....The best part of my meal was the baked beans and the dinner roll, lol...There were flies buzzing around but the workers were friendly, lol...Overall below average and way over priced....My two meat (1/2 lb meat total) was $20 after tax...No way José!

OK folks here we go. I ordered a dinner plate with three meats and it comes with a drink $23.80 The food was OK but extremely cold. Any thing that you order in this restaurant it's cold, I was going to get up and ask the guy if he could put my plate in the microwave oven and heat it up or you can take it back to your truck and heat it up, Live and learn.

This was a really good rest stop! So there's a gas station, gift shop and food... can't ask for more! We were traveling through and needed a snack, hubby suggested this place because he passes by here sometimes for work. I can't comment on the actual restaurant because we didn't order anything, but I saw a sign that said they weren't doing dine in just yet (take out only). They have really clean restrooms and in fact, there was an employee in there scrubbing everything down as we walked in. Very impressive!

Amazing travel stop! Extremely nice, extremely clean, very polite and helpful staff. Nicest bathrooms and 2 showers. I've never seen a Pilot truck stop / Shell station so nice. BBQ place, Steak and Shake, incredible gift shop all attached.

Tasty, tasty BBQ. Love the meats and the sides. And they even give a free mac and cheese to the kiddies. Went here on the way to Lawton for some EV charging. Stopped by again on the way back. Will be back when we are in the area again. Thank you for the delicious food and ultra-friendly staff.

Uncaring, unhelpful staff. "They (napkins) just need to be refilled ". Stingy re: sauce distribution. Tea is out. We will be coming through here frequently because we have a Tesla and the charger is good. We will, from now on, be going to steak 'n Shake rather than Texas best barbecue. Steak 'n Shake is located in the same building as Texas best barbecue. Food, overall, was lacking flavor.

A recently opened new travel center (April 2018) found me stopping in to check it out. Located on US 287 in Henrietta, Texas at the TX Hwy 148/Graham St exit. You'll find yourself greeted by plenty of smiling friendly faces, willing to lend a hand. I am so happy to have stopped in here, it's a beautiful clean facility! Open 24/7. They also have a few eating establishments accessible from inside. They feature Texas Best BBQ, Cinnabon, Pretzels (the shop name escapes me right now), and a Steak 'n Shake. The restaurants are open 10am-10pm, all seven days of the week. Plenty of snacks, drinks, candies, and goodies are available in the convenience store area. A large Texas themed gift section to one side. On this visit I gave their Texas Best BBQ a try! It was delicious!! We ordered, two different, two-meat plates with different sides in order to sample different choices. First plate was Smoked Jalapeno Sausage & Smoked Turkey, with Fried Potatoes and Baked Beans. The sausage was delicious! Had just the right blend for a savory spicy bite. The Turkey was just right to, not dry at all, and yummy to the tastebuds. The potatoes and beans were perfect as well. Not pictured in my photos are the pint of Green Beans, and they too were delicious, flavored perfectly and we topped them off with some added butter. Second plate was Smoked Pork Ribs & Smoked Ham, with Pinto Beans and Potato Salad. The meats were perfect!! My mouth is watering just thinking of them, while writing this. I liked the beans, and the potato salad was spot on delicious!! I've always treasured a well made potato salad, as I compare them all to the ones my Mom used to make years ago. The accompanying rolls were very tasty as well. I had a chance to speak to Ali, the BBQ manager, and asked about the meats. She told me all the meats are brought in and smoked on location. You'll see the huge smoker located directly behind the counter. That I found to be a real plus. Plenty of dining area, so get the family out and give it a try, I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

I'm sitting here right now at Texas "Best" Smokehouse. I ordered the cowboy plate. First of all, the guy that served me my food behind the counter cut my brisket slice and then said "THATS a little heavy and proceeded to cut the slice in half. It is a 2 meat plate, so he threw a little sausage in there( very little). $20 for some store BBQ. Avoid at all costs!!!!

The STAFF is UNCARING and UNHELPFUL!!!! The only thing i recommend is the BBQ!! We pumped fuel and did not stop on its own.. about $30 worth of diesel spilt asked for help and no one would help.. i asked for a manager and they told me there's not one working on that day (Sunday 1/9/2022) basically they told me to screw off!! WORST STAFF EVER!!

    Our 2 meat plate.

Beyond the cleanliness, the atmosphere is warm and exceptionally welcoming. The staff is genuinely friendly, and the owners go out of their way to ensure every guest feels truly taken care of. It is rare to find a place that balances such professional upkeep with a personal, "home-away-from-home" feel. Highly recommended for anyone in the area looking for a quality experience. The food is great. The plates are small ( which is fine ) but it would have been nice to have a bit of room to cut up my food , and I'd add a second side to anything that's not a sandwich, but even with just one side ( steaks get two ) you don't leave hungry. ( extra sides are 4 a piece) The only other suggestion is a basket of homemade bread would be perfect for this establishment . It's a southern food , steaks and gravy type place. A basket of bread would make it perfect . Great place though . We would go out of our way to stop again.

We're kinda picky. The next time came and as we were driving up we pulled off and toured this little place. There was beef jerky everywhere...and sauces and jellies and homemade fried pies and a cafe full of people. We just got one packet of their original beef jerky which turned out to be a HUGE mistake. As we drove off we dug in to what turned out to be mouth watering goodness. Super tasty. Delicious. THE perfect snack. Next time we purchased 10 packets. Another mistake it didn't last long. I placed an order for 30 packets to ship to my home and it literally arrived in a couple of days. I plan on sharing "some" with friends. They threw in a package of cured smoked beef sticks and can't wait to try them. The folks there are the nicest people! Sweet and informative. Hats off to their shipping folks as well! Initially, I said that I was in the mood for a lighter lunch, but when we read some of the many 5-star reviews for Juan and Allie's BBQ that said things like "I will always come here whenever I am within a six hour drive", I changed my mind. So we pulled off the highway and about a half-mile into the small town of Sunset. I realized we were at the spot when the faint smell of wood smoke trickled to my nose from the side of a weatherbeaten building with a "Backyard BBQ" banner tacked to the front. Walking inside, we were greeted by nods from a table of men in work boots and jeans, and then promptly welcomed by Allie herself. She indicated the day's menu on the board and helpfully answered our questions. The inside dining area was comfortable and homey, even if like the outside it had seen better days. Sagging ceiling tiles and duct tape repairs told the story of getting by and focusing on the important things. It is a real family-run operation, with Juan smoking the meats and Allie making the sides, along with waiting tables. On the day we visited at least, it was just the two of them working. Of course I had to order brisket since it was Texas, but the sides presented a more challenging decision. After hearing Allie's description of their cowboy beans, I chose those and the potato salad. She disappeared into the back room, and soon returned with a large metal tray containing slices of brisket and Texas-sized portions of sides. The brisket was beautifully smoked and sliced, and flavor was perfect. The only deduction I have to make was due to it being a little less tender than I would expect from a great brisket. It went down easily despite having said I was not in the mood for a pile of meat, but I did have to make use of my knife a little more than usual. The sides were big on home-cooked flavor. In both, I noticed a big difference from typical southern or big-name barbecue joints in that they were not overly sweet but relied on more earthy seasonings for their taste. They were excellent complements to the beef, and deserve some recognition of their own. After our meal was done, we chatted with Juan outside for a minute, where we learned some of the details mentioned above. It would have been cool to hear more about their story, but they had work to do and we had to get back on the road. So we pulled back onto the highway, having experienced a friendly welcome to Texas and a satisfying first meal in the Lone Star State.
