However, Exbeeriment is a mile down the street and they allow outside food so we decided to take our food to go and grab a beer to pair with it too! Win win. The truck says "Eat like a moose" and they mean it. Portion sizes are huge. We made two meals out of everything we ordered. The prices are pretty cheap and very reasonable for what you get. I ordered a combo sandwich with pulled beef brisket and smoked polish sausage. It was huge! The sausage was nice and smoky. The brisket was good and wasn't dry. My boyfriend also got a combo sandwich with brisket and burnt ends. I tried a burnt end and it was quite tender and juicy. Was the meat the best I've ever had? No, but for the price point and the quantity it's definitely good and I'd go back. I'd probably try something other than brisket. For sides we got a small Mac and cheese, a small bbq bean, and a large fry. They said a small serves one, a large serves two. I would argue that the large serves at least 3 and a small could serve two. Again huge portions. The fries were like McDonald's and were delicious. The Mac was ok. It was creamy and had a little spice to it. I'm not a huge fan of bbq beans but my boyfriend enjoyed them. If you're ever in the area, stop by and grab some bbq!

I ordered the charbroiled burger with pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, and bacon. It was cooked well, but I realized I'm just not a fan of that distinct charbroiled flavor. You might ask, "Then why did you order it?" Fair question. I'd never had a burger with such a pronounced charbroiled taste before, so now I know it's just a personal preference, not a reflection of the burger itself. We also ordered the Farmer burger with an egg, cheddar cheese, and bacon, along with a plain cheeseburger. The plain cheeseburger was fantastic. The patties are a nice, average size. They're not massive, but they're satisfying and full of flavor. For sides, we tried the curly fries, crinkle fries, and tater tots. The crinkle fries were our favorite. Also, don't skip the homemade ranch. It was excellent. The real standout, though, was the staff. They were cheerful, helpful, and incredibly fast. The place was packed because of the fair, but everyone was hustling and keeping things running smoothly. I pride myself on leaving honest reviews, so I do have to mention the one downside: the flies. There were quite a few inside. I'm sure the heat and the fair/rodeo traffic made it worse, but it was definitely noticeable and annoying while eating. Overall, the food was good, the service was excellent, and I'd happily come back. Next time, I'll skip the charbroiled burger simply because I've learned that flavor isn't for me.

I've found our new favorite restaurant for our weekly BBQ fix at J's BBQ! This was my second visit…read morein three weeks, and I can't rave enough about the food, ambiance, and service. My first trip was with my teenage son who loves ribs. We went for their unbeatable Wednesday/Saturday $18 full rack rib special. We shared the ribs and still had plenty left to take home. The meat was tender, smoky, and perfectly cooked. The BBQ beans were outstanding with just the right balance of smokiness and sweetness, and the seasoned crinkle-cut fries were addictive. This past weekend I brought the whole family of five. We're longtime regulars at KC Joe's, so I was a little nervous about a potential mutiny , but everyone loved it! My wife's face lit up the moment we walked in. She said it felt like a cozy restaurant we'd stumble upon while on vacation. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming with plenty of comfortable booths, warm lighting, and that perfect smoky BBQ aroma that hits you right when you enter. I went with the sausage and brisket combo, and it easily holds its own against most of the BBQ I grew up eating in Texas. One child ordered the kid's hot dog meal, and it was one of the best hot dogs I've tasted. Another got the brisket "Sloppy Mess" sandwich, and my wife had the shredded pork sandwich. Every single plate was a hit, and the whole family agreed we've found a new favorite. The owner was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with us about how he opened the restaurant. It's always great to see that kind of passion! My only feedback is that I wish they stayed open a bit later. They close at 7pm on Sundays and 8pm the rest of the week. With a 20-minute drive from Overland Park and a family of five to wrangle, we could roll up right around closing time. A little extra time would make it perfect which I anticipate will happen the more people discover them. All in all, J's BBQ has officially earned a regular spot in our weekly rotation. If you're in the area and craving quality BBQ in a family-friendly setting, do yourself a favor and check it out!

You order at the counter and are given a number to take to your table while you wait for your food. I ordered The Bella. This was a comically large sandwich. The burnt ends were HUGE! It was impossible to eat as a sandwich so I took it apart and cut up the burnt ends. All the food was solid and I really liked the hot bbq sauce. I left completely full finishing my meal. I would lean on ordering something else when I return as the sandwich was just impossible to eat as a sandwich for me. I really want to try the ribs but they were sold out. So I know for next time to come early.

The burnt ends were very much the burnt ends of the beef - my husband really liked them but I had some dry bits that were not fun to eat around. Mac & cheese was good, not off the charts. Cheesy corn very good & nice flavor! Onion rings were panko-crust & pretty crunchy (tearing up roof of mouth) but fresh & tasty. Slaw was good enough. 1/2 Burnt Ends BBQ - Kansas…read more When you're in Kansas/ Kansas City area, BBQ is non-negotiable. Since we were staying near our Airbnb, we searched for a local place and landed on Burnt Ends BBQ, a restaurant that's well known for its barbecue sauces. We walked in with no expectations and were quickly seated. Our server, Lily, greeted us right away, took our drink order, and brought out complimentary cornbread bites. Those little bites were a fantastic start to the meal. If I lived nearby, I'd probably order those every visit. I had already decided what I wanted, but my wife was doing her usual "let me study every item on the menu" routine. Lily recommended the All the Ends Platter, so I changed my order and we decided to share it. The platter included beef, pork, and corned beef burnt ends. I chose the creamy coleslaw while my wife selected the baked potato salad. Presentation was excellent. Everything looked like it was going to be outstanding. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't quite match the appearance. The corned beef burnt ends were decent, the pork was just okay, but the beef was easily the best of the three. Since Burnt Ends is known for its sauces, I sampled all four. None of them were what I'd call unforgettable, but my favorites were the Thick & Bold followed by the Honey Glaze. The sides were a mixed bag. The baked potato salad was served warm, which makes sense considering it's modeled after a baked potato, but both my wife and I prefer potato salad cold. It just wasn't for us. The creamy coleslaw also seemed to be missing something. It wasn't bad--it simply lacked the flavor I was hoping for. Since neither of us cared much for the sides, my wife ordered a basket of fries. Crispy, hot, and perfectly cooked. Sometimes the simplest things are the best. After finishing the burnt ends, we decided to order a half rack of ribs. I'm glad we did. They turned out to be one of the highlights of the meal--tender, flavorful, and worth the extra five dollars. The biggest disappointment had nothing to do with the food. The dining room was uncomfortably warm. It wasn't very busy, yet it felt like the air conditioning either wasn't working or simply couldn't keep up. It definitely affected the overall experience. In the end, the service from Lily was very good, the complimentary cornbread bites were excellent, the fries were spot on, and the ribs were the best thing we ate. Overall, it wasn't a bad meal--it just wasn't the memorable Kansas City BBQ experience I was hoping for. If I were only in town for a few days, I'd probably continue exploring some of the other local BBQ spots before returning. The servers were great- so very kind and even told us not to tip due to the world cup percentage being added. The new restaurant was very sharp and spacious in the layout. But the only thing it had going for it was the server and the space. The food was brought out quickly but was not of good quality. My brisket was 75% all fat. It was gross. My 90yr old grandmother ordered their Crown Prime Beef rib for 38.00. It was literally all fat. The very few pieces of meat on it was very tender and soft, but she took two bites of it and could not eat anymore. My husband got the pulled pork and it was so dry. The best thing that we ate was our salmon dip appetizer. Other than that I was highly disappointed in the quality of the meat. I spent too much money just to eat nothing but fat. Very poor quality and not sure that I will be returning.
