So glad I was able to come here with my family the other night. We got seated right away and our waitress took our orders. My cousin ordered a drink with Irish whiskey and the bartender came back and said they did not have Jameson whiskey. He asked if she had any Irish whiskey at all and she said no. He ordered a Diet Coke instead. He got the burnt ends and they looked amazing. I got the 2 item entree with brisket and beef ribs and fries. The food was hot when I got it and it was delicious. Those beef ribs were beefy and very tender. A little bit of their bbq sauce and they were mouth watering making you want more. The brisket was good too but kind of odd they sliced the brisket in very thin slices and piled them on top of each other. I would have much rather had a 1/4 in inch slices of brisket like people normally serve. But they were still good. I also got a side salad and it was fresh and delicious too. Too bad they don't have thousand islands salad dressing. Overall this place seemed like one of the nicer beer Jack Stacks in town. If you get a chance order those beef ribs as they were really good. I saw for $3.00 you can upgrade to a high grade of beef for the beef ribs.

I was in Kansas City for business and thought let me try some Kansas City barbecue and I located this Jack Stack and I was not disappointed. I ordered the lamb ribs and baked beans as a side. The meat was for the most part tasty and tender. I do think a pork rib somehow got into the crate with my ribs because one of the bones wasn't as tender and didn't taste like lamb but I didn't mind because the ribs overall were good and cooked well. The sauce was tangy and good. I ordered some spicy on the side. The baked beans were smoky and there were meat in the beans. The beans sauce was delicious and sweet but not overly sweet. There were a few pickle slices in the crate with the meat. The portion was just right for me as I ate off it for two days. I recommend this location and the lamb ribs and the beans. I got my food delivered.

I have never eaten in-house. Always have had take during family get-togethers with 10-20 people. Jack Stack is well-equipped for large takeout orders. Everything is done promptly on time to the minute you have requested it over the phone (online). If you are able, walk inside to pick up your order at the takeout window because then you will see the operation in progress -- a dozen fast-moving experts packing your meal beautifully and efficiently. It is quite a sight! The side dishes are stupendous. The meat is delectable. They will load you up with more BBQ sauce than you will ever eat. We love the brisket, burnt-ends, spicy wings, and pork ribs. BBQ in KC is an experience similar to lobsters in Maine. Be ready for a feast. I have tried others that were just a step below Jack Stack. This place is our go-to for annual family reunions. One day I promise myself to dine-in, as the restaurant (in Lenexa) is beautiful and suitable for mid-west heavy-eating BBQ fans.

Had lunch with my aunt and cousin today and it was overall a good experience. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. The staff was very nice. The jalapeño corn bread we got to start was delicious. I got the pulled pork baked potato and it was good but not outstanding.

The food here was amazing! If you're craving BBQ I highly recommend eating here. I had the onion ring which the batter was unlike any other batter I've tasted. It was excellent! I had the potato with burnt ends and every bite was scrumptious! The meat was cooked perfectly. The sauce tasted fantastic. Other people in our party had ribs and also commented on how perfect they were cooked. The Carrot Cake was so moist and the light drizzled frosting really made the cake and complimented the overall taste. If was the best carrot cake I've ever had! We were here passing through in our way back to CO. So if you're craving BBQ I highly recommend you eat here!

I use Jack Stack for catering all the time from OP or Freight House and one thing they do better than most is consistency between locations. My wife had a corporate luncheon in Lenexa last week and the sides were cold and the burnt ends were dry and inedible. She was too nice to return the plate for another.

Popped in for lunch and sat at the bar. Had burnt ends, brisket, and asparagus. All were delicious. I'm reducing sugar in my diet so I wish they had not put the sauce on the meat but not a negative for most people. Bar tender took great care of me and I left a happy camper!

In Lenexa for work, our hotel was right next door to Jack Stack, so we ate here a couple of nights. This place was never not busy. The service was good, the place is clean and the food was really good. Best bbq ever? Nah, but it was a solid four stars and they have an impressive menu. My favorites were the wings and the lamb ribs, not overly seasoned and just the perfect bit of chew. Be warned, if you pay via QR code at the table, you will be in their e-mail list. So, now I know what specials they are running from my home in DC.

    French Dip Sandwich

Tried the French Dip at Jack Stack BBQ and really enjoyed it. The roast beef was flavorful and the melted cheese paired perfectly with the soft toasted roll. The au jus had great flavor and made each bite even better when dipped. Definitely something I'd order again.

One of my absolute favorite BBQ places. The cheesy potatoes are absolutely to dieeee for ! The beans are delicious and the coleslaw is a nice light refreshing element. We got the pork and beef burnt ends. The service was really good ! I love that it's a nicer sit down BBQ place. You can dress up or down!

    Cheesy corn
    Dillon G.

Outstanding barbecue with service that matches. The ambiance is rich as the flavor of the Mac and cheese. The sides are almost as good as the burnt ends. I would recommend the cheesy corn, corn bread, spinach strawberry salad, or mac and cheese. Pair this with a nice wine or cocktail if the evening calls for it!

A great experience like always! If it's your first visit, a great insider hack to know is that you can ask to split your entree side into two small sides and you'll still have plentyy of food!! Free dessert on birthdays- highly recommend the carrot cake!

Okay, what can I say about Jack Stack. I've eaten at most of the bar-b-que places in the Greater Kansas City area. All the Big names and a few of the smaller establishments, plus numerous restaurants across the country including Virginia, South Carolina, Tennesse, Texas and even California. In my opinion, while there is good bar-b-que out there, it's hard to beat KC. Having said that Jack Stack, for the price, doesn't quite "stack" up against some of the others. The restaurant is a little more upscale than some, fitting into the casual dining category. The staff were fast and friendly. Our food arrived within minutes, which is a plus. However, the chicken was dry as was the pulled pork. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The potato salad was not to my liking, but that is due to personal taste. I found the cheesy corn intriguing and the backed beans were spot on. The cole slaw was also below my bar for good slaw. I haven't been to a Jack Stack in years, but I seem to remember their onion rings, while just as big and juicy as before, used to have a different batter. These rings had a cornmeal batter. While good, I miss the original. Still Jack Stack is not one to pass up. I'm sure the dry meats were the exception, not the rule.

Brisket was unwrapped near our table and was dripping juices - spice rub and doneness was right on. The meat was so tender and flavorful that I didn't really need P&F's BBQ Sauce- which was also very good and a bit different from traditional KC style sauce. Pork Burnt ends aren't my favorite but these were tasty, very well spiced and were complimented well by the P&F sauce. While I thought the brisket was the star of the show, the smoked and fried chicken wings were a close second to the brisket and seemed very popular with the crowd at Discourse. When chicken is smoked well, it carries the smoky taste throughout tender and juicy meat and these were smoked well. Can't forget Discourse Brewing, I tried their Used 8 track Dortmunder Lager. I like German style lagers and pilsners and this choice well complimented P&Fs BBQ. Before finishing for the evening I had a Platinum Label "I'm a Dinosaur" Helles - it was light and not too hoppy. I'd have both again. Wednesday is Trivia Night at Discourse and while I didn't stay for it, the place was packed an hour before trivia started. All in all a great evening. If you like BBQ, Beer or trivia or want to hit a trifecta - try Discourse Brewing on a Wednesday night!

Their menu consists of a lot of dishes, and some are quite unique .. you don't usually see items like bird's nest dishes at most Chinese restaurants around here except for maybe Bolings. Me and my husband visited on a Saturday night around 8 pm and really devoured our meal. The menu can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but you honestly can't go wrong with stir fries at any Chinese restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered chicken egg rolls, which were hefty and filling. For the main course, I ordered the chicken in black bean stir fry, and my husband got the shrimp Kung Pao chicken stir fry. We paired both with steamed rice. The black bean chicken was rich and earthy, with that deep, slightly funky flavor from the fermented black beans. It was very umami, salty and complimented nicely with the fresh, crisp vegetables and well-cooked chicken. I really liked it. The shrimp Kung Pao was spicy and tangy, with perfectly cooked shrimp (the fried shrimp covering was chefs kiss) and crispy veggies. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The egg rolls were about $4 for two pieces, and the stir fries were around $17+ each. The portions are quite large compared to other places in the area, so the pricing seemed reasonable. For 2 main course dishes your bill could easily reach up to $40. Otherwise, The restaurant was clean, the staff was kind, and service was quick. It also wasn't too crowded when we visited. I would rate the service 4/5, mainly because we had to ask for silverware, condiments, and tissues separately. The food, though, is definitely a 5/5. Highly recommended! I will definitely return to have more dishes like beef chow fun, the soups and last, but not least BIRDS NEST!!
