We had such a great experience at Texapolitan Pizza! We ordered the Texas Twinkie and honestly, it was one of the best pizzas we've had. The combination of brisket, bacon, smoked cream cheese, jalapeños and BBQ sauce was so good and full of flavor. The crust was perfectly crispy, which I loved. The owners told us they use 00 Caputo flour from Naples, Italy, and I was actually surprised that even after eating several slices, I didn't feel bloated or overly full like I sometimes do after eating pizza. The owners were super friendly and took the time to chat with us and tell us more about their pizzas and how they make them. You can definitely tell they're passionate about what they do. They also have a good amount of indoor seating and a bar where you can grab a beer or wine with your pizza. We really enjoyed everything and will definitely be coming back to try some of their other pizzas! read more

The cheese curds are some of the best we've had and we've had cheese curds in Wisconsin. The pizza is some of the best you'll get in DFW. Had a great experience here getting two slices of pizza. They offer cheese and pepperoni slices for around $4-5 and specialty slices for around $6.50. Got the Texas Twinkie (jalapenos, cream cheese, brisket, bacon, and various cheeses) and the Upside Down which they described as a Margherita with the sauce on top instead of bottom. They heated everything up and it came out very fast. It's always a pet peeve of mine when you order by the slice and it takes forever to come out. They toasted it so the crust was very crispy while still being thin like a true New York Style. I really liked both slices as everything tasted fresh and it was an explosion of flavor that was pretty balanced. Texas Twinkie had a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, savoriness and smokiness from the meats, creaminess from the cheeses and a little kick (not much) from the jalapenos. My only minor complaint was that the crust was a bit on the crunchier side and drier from the toasting. I appreciate that they take effort into making quality pies. We checked this place out for lunch recently and had a great experience. They have several tables and a bar area inside. We dined in and sat at a high top table. They have appetizers, pizzas by the slice, and whole pies. They don't have a lot of options for pre-made pizzas, but they do have several topping choices for a build your own. We tried the Texas Twinkie pizza and the crab and mozzarella arancini balls. The crab balls were unique and flavorful. The marinara sauce that came with it was tasty. The pizza was fantastic. The smoke flavor on the cheese and brisket was amazing. The barbecue sauce drizzled on it was great. The staff were friendly and informative. They told us to check them out at the State Fair, which we certainly will. We all wished they were still doing the Pit Commander BBQ, because the pics on the walls looked delicious. The slices of pizza here are pretty solid, they have a pie of the month and then some basics and build your own options when you order your own pie. We got a few slices, the upside down, the sausage and hot honey pepperoni. For our taste most the pizzas were salty, but I did like the dough a lot and the slices were not soggy. Wow this place is legit! The pizza crust is amazing and the sauce and toppings are incredible too. They offer several bases and you get get it half and half as well in terms of toppings. You can purchase slices or get a whole pizza. The crust is a bit like NY style which is sometimes hard to find and execute well. We went here because I saw it advertised on fb or Instagram and we were going to be in the area. I love Hutchins Texas Twinkies so I had to try their special of the month Texas Twinkie pizza. We got there nobody really said anything the guy behind the counter (probably manager or owner) never looked up and was on his phone texting. Finally I said something and he finally spoke. No price was on the board for the special of the month so I had no clue what it would be but I figured around the same as the others so I ordered that a slice of pizza and 2 mini cannolis. Total was $63 with tip!!! For a pizza, a slice of pizza and 2 cannolis that is ridiculous!! He messed up the order so it took forever to get our order. He came out and apologized that he had messed it up (never offered a refund just said he had sold it sliced) and we told him just to make it to go then (because we still wanted our order). He did and brought it out. The pizzas both were good. Solid 9 out of 10 but were they worth the price?.... absolutely not. The cannolis were hard and stale no way they were fresh 1 out of 10. I'm use to authentic cannolis from New York and Boston these were not even remotely on the same level. Wouldn't order them again and don't recommend them either. Popped in on a chill Saturday afternoon, ordered the pepperoni, and basically had a full-blown pizza awakening. Crispy old-school pepperonis, melty cheese, and that crust? Straight fire. Like, actual wood-fired perfection. East Coast vibes in the middle of DFW? Didn't see that coming. Staff? 10/10. Friendly, fast, and just cool people. We visited on Friday for dinner and ordered a whole pie (18 inches) online before going in person to pick it up. Once we arrived, our pizza was fresh and ready after a few minutes, plus the owners were super friendly! The pizza itself was cooked perfectly and the crust was light & crisp with a bit of chew. On our pizza, we got smoked pork belly, pepperoni, and red onion with a hot honey drizzle, and all the toppings were delicious though the hot honey flavor didn't come through as much. One note I do want to add with regards to online ordering: any dips or drizzles you want to add are in an entirely separate section of the online menu (separate from the pizzas)! We thought they would be under the list of toppings when you select a pizza, but we didn't see them there so we just added the drizzle we wanted in the notes. Great pizza! I needed to eat something for lunch and was headed to O burger next door but when I saw Texapolitan it looked interesting and new since I've been here last. So I got the lunch special w salad, big slice of smoked pork belly. Pizza was great with a crispy thin crust and a toasted flavor that was interesting. Topping were good and creatively different. Thin was perfect too because I've been leaning down and am avoiding stuffing loads of carbs into my face, and it was very flavorful. Even the salad was good with some flakes of hard cheese that added a lot of flavor to what might be an ordinary Caesar salad. I'll be back soon to try their next. I placed a pizza order over the phone at 5:42 PM and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived at 6:10 PM to pick it up, only to be told that it wasn't ready yet. The staff apologized and said it would only be a few more minutes, which I completely understood. I sat at the bar to wait and checked for updates at 6:20 PM and again at 6:30 PM. Each time, I was assured that my pizza would be ready "very soon." Finally, at 6:44 PM, I was informed that my pizza had actually been finished the entire time and had been sitting in the warmer unlabeled. Mistakes happen, and I understand that restaurants get busy. What was most disappointing was the lack of any effort to make the situation right. After waiting more than 30 minutes past the promised pickup time and repeatedly asking for updates, I expected at least an apology from management, a discount, or some small gesture of goodwill. Instead, I paid full price and left feeling like my time simply didn't matter. Today was our first time trying Texapolitan, after seeing a video of it on Insta. THANK GOODNESS WE DID! We shared a Caesar salad that was tasty, with great homemade croutons, as well as tried their pizza of the month: with smoked pork burnt ends, jalapeño, cotija cheese, sweet peppers, tomato sauce plus a sweet and smoky BBQ drizzle. Holy moly, it was outstanding! The pizza was thin, with a crispy bottom, flavorful but uncomplicated sauce, and the perfect ratio of toppings. The owner was very friendly, and the restaurant was clean. They sell individual slices, and also have lunch specials with a slice, salad and a drink (all natural sugar sodas). They're in the midst of building out a bar, as the owners want to showcase local beers, and if I could make any complaint at all, it would be that that the space is small, so it won't be able to accommodate the huge crowds that are sure to frequent this new location. So excited these guys are in Plano now!!! Stopped in for lunch yesterday and as with our previous experiences from the former Van Alstyne location, they did not disappoint! We saw a post on Facebook about the super secret off menu garlic bread and it was terrific! Made from scratch bread with fresh garlic, olive oil, spices and cheese served with their red sauce - I hope it becomes a regular menu item! For our pizza (they just have 18 inch, but you can order a slice if you want - not us, we want leftovers!) , we ordered one with Pork Belly (house smoked and fantastic), pepperoni cups (so crisp), jalapeno and onion. Crust was crispy and so flavorful! The pizza overall was just amazing, just as we expected. Friendly owners who care about your satisfaction is just icing on the cake. I ordered The Plano Cheese with pepperoni and sausage for delivery. The crust was thin and crispy. It was 'well done' as they say and I do like my pizza cooked this way. The base crust, cheese, sauce, etc. is great and would be really good as just a cheese pizza. The pepperoni was cupped and crispy on the edges, and the sausage was finely ground which is the way I always prefer. (I hate big nasty chunks of meat on a pizza.) The only slight disapointment I had was I was expecting a greater amount of toppings. The pictures on their website show them loaded with toppings. The amout of toppings on mine was fair and adquate, but not loaded like the pictures of pizza they display on their website. I recommend you try it out if you like 'well done' pizzas! read more

Due to the great Yelp reviews we decided to give this local independent restaurant a try. We decided to eat in . Our server was really helpful. They make two kinds of cheese pizza. One has a red sauce. The other is a cheese base sauce with many different kinds of cheeses. That was the one we chose and I would recommend that one . The pizza dough crust was everything they had promised. We used to like the restaurant Dough that closed . The pizza is crisp on the bottom but then tender and absolutely delicious on top. It is a build your own pizza. The vegetable toppings are all two dollars and the meats are five dollars each. We chose the pork which is crumble not big chunks. It was very delicious. Then we added basil , fresh garlic, black, olives, and fresh mushrooms. All the pizzas are 18 inches. We ate half and took half home for the next day. They said to heat it up put it at 420° for five minutes. It was perfect. We also had a Caesar salad. Lettuce was fresh and the house made Caesar dressing was delicious. My husband could taste the anchovies. The salad enough for two people was $10. Yes it was expensive. Yes, it was worth it. The hand tossed dough is exceptional . We did learn it's BYOB. So next time we will save on soft drinks. I think next time instead of ordering so many different toppings we will stick with one meat and 2 two orders of double vegetables so you get more of them. We will definitely be back. The restaurant inside was very clean. Lots of folks were coming for takeout. You really need to read all about their dough and their cheeses to see this is not a chain restaurant. Quality ingredients. I used to give Dough five stars. The ambience was nicer at Dough. Was sad to see it close . When it started opening only in the evenings for me, that was not my ideal time. I love to go on Sundays at lunch. I hate to do this , but just my experience.. I drove almost an hour to try this place because the pizza looked fantastic. Even as I walked in , it smelled great and looked great . I ended up getting turned off in person because of how the Lady , who i believe is the owner , was handling the pizza by the slice . She was really handsy with it , with no gloves . She was handling the register and the pizza, and touching her straw she was drinking from, with her fingers all within a few seconds. Sanitation is extremely important to me . I was afraid to order a slice because I felt like she would pick it up with her bare hands . I didn't order anything and went somewhere else . We were on our way to Mana's Pizza for lunch today when I saw this establishment on the right. PB was jonesing for pizza today, so we decided to try it. We decided on 18"(that's the only size they have and you can get by the slice too)1/2 Pepperoni/sausage and 1/2 mushrooms/basil/pepperochinis/jalapeno/red onions and 2 drinks plus dipping sauce(Melinda's and Honey). Our pizza came out pretty quickly and we were pleasantly surprised that the pizza was so delicious! We had 4 slices each and it was perfect! We liked the fact that drinks weren't of national brand like Coke, but made with real pure cane sugar. This establishment is owned by husband/wife team from NY and husband is a USMC veteran(Semper FI). She told us they've been here since April and we wished we came by sooner. She told us that they will close this coming Saturday until at the end of October, bc they will be at Texas State Fair, so if you want to try this place go before 9/20 and after end of October. We drove about an hour to get there, was told it would be about another hour to an hour and a half to get a pizza. They were out of ingredients that we wanted and were turning away incoming business from the door because they couldn't handle anymore as they were literally running out of dough. Seriously? This is during a weekend when you would think they would have been prepared for it. Several customers were pissed and had their complaints. We were annoyed ourselves and then when we finally got our pizza, the order was wrong. FFS! To make all matters worse, we both have been sick from eating here. I looked at the health standards and it confirms why we both got sick. Not trying to be a jerk as I respect them serving our country and am so grateful for that, however it doesn't make it acceptable to not have their health standards be completely met. I figure it was either the improper handling of our food or the meats that were bad. Maybe both. Doesn't matter and the pizza was just okay. Just regular pizza. They got lucky social media gave them a boost, but I'm never coming back to waste our time, energy, gas, money or health again. The place also needs better seating and faster clean up as they have almost half of their restaurant taken up by a draft beer area that no one seems to use. I'm sure plenty of people will still order from here but I'm just not a fan of Texapolitan Pizza sorry to say. Ps. To the response from the owner, we both only ate your pizza that day so you are absolutely unprofessional to get confrontational and respond to any customer like that, regardless of how you personally feel. Their dough reminds me of the bread I ate in Avellino Italy, when I was stationed there in the 1980's (and have been back a few times since). The crust on their pizza is perfect! The pizza is wonderful. I've tried two types and enjoyed both. I grew up in the Catskill mountains of NY and my friend's parents owned what is still talked about as the best pizza in NY at the time. This pie is so close to that. If you enjoy thin crusted pizza, you must try this! Go early and eat in. The crunch is wonderful. So far, this has been the best pizza crust I've found while trying to find a style of pizza similar to East Coast pizza. I tried the white pizza and it was delicious, had to eat every bite of that crust. Not a down point, but I was put off a little at first by the odor of the cheese. It was very pungent, I think from the provolone in their blend? But the flavor was delicious. I think mine might have been missing the ricotta? I saw dollops of it in the pictures, but mine didn't have that so I dunno if they don't do ricotta if you get the pizza to go or if it's just blended into the sauce? I want to get the plain cheese with pepperoni next time to try! I do wish they had a smaller pie option like an 8' or 14'. If you are just two people the 18' is really big. I don't mind leftovers and they were honestly delicious, but with how pricey the pie is, it would be nice to be able to get a $15 smaller pie for 2 people. If you don't have a group of at least 3-4 hungry folks, I'd suggest maybe just getting a slice or two. It is nice that they offer slices. Overall, highly recommend this quality pizza! read more
