John got into the Yelp Elite event and I didn't- but we went together and I purchased the Hop Scotch Latte (hot) for myself. Their baked goods case is tiny, looks to hold only 3 different items. The workers were hustling and greeting various customers as they came through the door, myself included. John thinks he doesn't like flavored or fru fru coffee- so he offered to give me his cup. Yeah- I got one sip and he decided he really liked it, so I returned to line to order my own. Scrumptious in a cup! John also got a peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips and inhaled that along with his latte. I really enjoyed the customer service, the small interactions I saw between staff and customers. That is key. John even said he will have to pop in here when he goes to his hobby shop down the street! hah- not a flavored coffee lover my toosh. Enjoy! read more

I learned of Tetherball Coffee due to a Yelp event and was excited to come back and order again. when the sun's out, Tetherball is filled with warm, natural light and is an incredibly inviting place to hang out in. The owner and his employee are both very friendly and willing to answer any questions. It's clean, there's plenty of seating, and the bathroom is immaculate. But, you ask, how is the coffee? I'm pleased to say that the coffee is outstanding. On my most recent visit, I had a large hot latte. It was strong, but also so very smooth. I had a sip of my wife's iced latte, and it was the perfect balance of coffee and milk. While their hot latte was very good, their iced latte is transcendent. Previously, I had their signature Hopscotch Iced Latte and a cookie, both of which were excellent. My wife hung out to do some work while I took care of our toddler and ordered an iced jasmine green tea later, which she said was also outstanding. Tetherball Coffee is a local gem. If you're in the Mandarin area, stop in, grab a coffee, a baked good, and hang out. This place is great! read more

Stumbled upon this adorable coffee shop today with my boyfriend. We are always trying to find new coffee spots around town and this place is my new favorite. First of all, it's adorable. The owner was working the bar and told us that not only does he own and operate but he also built the cafe and designed it. The theme is tetherball (duh) which is an odd theme for a coffee spot but is obviously a fun personal choice by the owner. Inside is a minimal design that felt very fresh and inviting. It's somewhere I wouldn't mind going to work on a project or study. We both ordered the Hopscotch which was a vanilla caramel latte and it was super delicious! I think it's my new favorite. He also had a list of specialty hot chocolates that all sounded amazing if you're craving something non-coffee related. The owner was super friendly and our drinks were delicious and he even did some fun latte art which I always feel bad about destroying when I take a sip. I highly suggest you go and check it out. Let me start by saying that the staff at this coffee shop located in a strip mall in Mandarin are passionate and knowledgeable about coffee. The building is small maybe 5-6 tables, a coffee bar and bathroom. Everything was clean and orderly. The menu is fairly small as it has coffee, tea, a few blended drinks and some food (not sure if it is made in house or not but empanadas for breakfast sounds great). Coffee is designed to be the star of the show here. I opted for a small drip coffee (10 ounces - I think) for a little less than $3. The coffee was strong and flavorful at start but felt weak as I continued to drink (not sure if this is bc I let it get a little cool or not). Business was brisk when I stopped by despite the fact that they were close to closing for the day. I would try it again. read more

I had seen this new coffee shop near me and decided to try it out one morning. I came in and already there was a few customers in there. The hopscotch latte seems to be the popular drink, so I ordered that along with a freshly baked lemon poppyseed muffin. I stood back and watched the barista make everyone's drinks. You could tell he put detail into each drink and made sure that the coffees were loaded with whipped cream and crushed cookies on top. The first sip was the best with a little whipped cream and the cookie bits! I'm happy to see a local coffee shop opening up, so I'm hoping to visit again soon. I was greeted and felt welcomed immediately. This quant and cozy coffee shop offers a variety of coffees and teas. I love the atmosphere and approach to the menu items (light and flavorful). I had the hopscotch latte (caramel and vanilla) iced and the Ube muffin. Both were sweet but not over powering and very refreshing. The tea selection is very unique, I will be coming back to try next time! There is a punch card system as well. I can totally picture myself coming here on a Saturday after I go to the library across the street to pick up my latest book hold. I overheard someone order a Mexican hot chocolate that has a hint of cayenne and I would love to try this (you can add espresso to the drink as well) This is my new go to coffee shop. Elias (the owner) mentioned at the end of February is a latte competition, I'll be coming back to check it out! For the iced hopscotch drink, a minor suggestion would be to ask to have the vanilla wafers pre crushed and sprinkled on top instead of having big chunks on top so you can drink the beverage with minimal crunch. I drove 35 minutes over to try this coffee place from the beach area. The store was very clean, not busy at all and the owner behind the counter was ver personable. They have their fall beverages out but I tried a regular menu item of theirs that is popular. A iced Hopscotch. Which is a vanilla caramel latte. Very good. read more

I grabbed a to-go coffee before some weekend errands from this quaint shop. I ordered a simple iced latte and enjoyed it very much! I'm not a fan of strong coffee and liked that the flavor complimented the milk nicely without being overpowered by it. I'd say in terms of flavor it's close to Italian coffee but maybe a hair less intense. Highly recommend stopping by this place and showing another little local treasure some love! read more

The coffee was very tasty, and they offered a simple but unique menu that differed from other places I visited in Jax. I hit up Tetherball the morning after flying back to Jax from the west coast (was too jet-lagged to make my own latte ). This is a bright, well-lit little spot, with very friendly staff and a fun vibe. There was a 1-year old's birthday party going on, and that was a cute thing to see. I put "maybe" on the recommendation for this reason: even though it's a fun spot, the lavender latte I had (which is my go-to yardstick for gauging the real coffee score) was really just average. So if you're a connoisseur (i.e., snob ) like me, you too may move on after trying it out, cuz there are much better beans around Jax. But props for the spot, and the friendly peeps. bk read more
