Appointment only via website: https://www.molecularmatrix.com/covidtesting. FAQs available here: https://www.molecularmatrix.com/faq-pcr Drive-through Covid testing. Very easy to fill out info online (intake form, e-sign), schedule same-day appointment. Reminders sent and confirmed via email and text message. West Sacramento location can do the Standard PCR or Express tests. Express (Same-Day Result) within 12 hours of receiving sample cost $$$, not usually covered by insurance. I chose the Standard COVID-19 PCR Test (Projected End of Next-Day Results), with Insurance Coverage. Test results will be sent by 11:59PM the day after nasal sample received. GPS directions were ok, missed the turn off of Industrial and came into the lot where the drive-thru exit was. Can't recall if there was an obvious sign saying Molecular Matrix on the building itself or the doors. Lots of other businesses nearby sharing the lot. Located the correct driveway to enter; there was a single A-Frame sign for pre-appointments and orange cones. One car ahead just finished. Pull up to the stop sign with windows rolled up, remain inside vehicle. Technician came out right away and held up a sign to call a (916) number. This dialed you in directly to the technician who had an ear/headset along with the face shield and PPE. Hold up your photo ID to the window and confirm appointment/name, biohazard bag with tube and sterile swab handed through the window and rolled up again. The tech asked if first time testing here, and gave instructions/timed count for the self-administered nasal swab procedure. Bag deposited in specimen collection bin. Took 5 minutes tops. Much more convenient location than the Project Baseline at Rite Aid (Woodland, Rio Linda) or via Curative at Cal Expo, relative to my work office. Raleys Natomas has one but I think their website said 3-5 day results turnaround so I chose Molecular Matrix due to their next-day results. UPDATE: Original appointment 12:35PM Monday, results received before 5:00PM Tuesday! [negative]

I got there about 10 minutes early and there was no line so I went into the drive-through line and waited. Within less than a minute, someone came out to check my ID and bring me the bag with the test. One nasal swab later, the test was dropped in a receptacle and I was back on the road. About six hours later, I got my PCR results via email - they typically promise 11:59 pm the following day - so this was record timing in my book for a lab test. Super thankful this is available - and free with health insurance. 5 star experience.

Located…read moredirectly on Greenback Lane (in Citrus Heights) and just a couple blocks east of I-80, the "Sutter Medical Plaza Greenback Lab" has been my go-to place dating back to 2023. Parking here is relatively easy to find as the dedicated lot is spacious enough to accommodate a few dozen vehicles at any given time. Their hours are also quite reasonable as they are open Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 5:00pm while being closed on weekends. My most recent visit was during the morning of Friday 12/11/2025 at around 9:00am. I checked in one day prior on the My Health Online app through Sutter Health which was a very seamless process as they had a ton of open timeslots available. After entering the facility, you make an immediate walk to the right, sign-in, and wait (which was less than 5 minutes). And since this was for Lab bloodwork, I made sure they did a Lipid (cholesterol level) profile, comprehensive metabolic panel, prostate antigen test, and complete blood cell count. Once I was seen by a medical specialist, they checked my vitals (heart & blood pressure) and weight. Since I fasted 12 hours prior to coming here, I got a syringe in my left arm (which was just a slight "pinch") and was on my way. Total time from when I arrived to when I exited the building was less than 10 minutes. Overall, the front desk staff and nurses were all very friendly and accommodating. All in all, the "Sutter Medical Plaza Greenback Lab" was a fairly positive experience with no hiccups or issues. My rating, an above average four stars.

This facility is the only one in Sutter in our area that has an ultrasound and nurse on staff for visualizing veins for the IV insertion. I asked! As soon as I was dressed in the hospital gown, Carly was the nurse who ably, quickly, and painlessly put in the IV line in a couple minutes. She had a competent and kind nature. I was very grateful as my MRI in February required 9 tries with lots of pokes and 45 minutes for a successful IV placement-all this happened while I was in the head cage midway through the MRI and I had to remain still. A bit of trauma remains from that experience. Jim was the MRI technician and he was no-nonsense, reassuring, professional, and all around excellent. The 3T MRI machine at this location was super comfortable and the head cage which keeps your head still was ample in size compared to others I've been in. The comfort factor of the machine was excellent. They had a film playing nature scenes and a radio station selection which helped to distract me. The MRI experience was 5/5 Signage to the imagining center was so poor we had to drive in a circle to find the suite which added unnecessary stress for a time sensitive check in. We followed the arrows but were led astray. Imaging is at the very front- and there are two separate imaging suites to top it off. There are three different medical entities in three very large multi suite adjacent buildings- Kaiser, Sutter, and UC Davis. It was also confusing to leave the imaging center to the lobby after getting dressed...again, better signs would help a lot. You are a bit confused after some of these tests.
